I had a post typed out, I wonder what happened to it.

I'm sorry to hear about your SIL, Ginny.

I hope everything works out for your son and his GF, Ginny.

My mom doesn't color her hair, so I should be good there.

Leah, I hope the storms aren't severe when they get to you if that's where they are headed. There does seem to be a long line of them headed east.

Dee

I'm sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. Were you close to her?

Hi there!!! [:)]

thisistheday -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/6/2008 1:10:09 AM)

Hi Cassandra!

vmginny -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/6/2008 7:04:52 AM)

At one time I was close to my husband's sister. After we moved to the mid-west the relationship wasn't kept up. It is hard to keep up a relationship from the East. Virginia to Missouri

As it does whenever someone dies, the memories weld up. I regret not keeping in better touch with her. My sil suffered a heart attack a year ago. I don't yet know what caused her death. I do know she was taking lots of meds. And not doing what her doctor told her to do.

My hair isn't showing gray yet. There are some gray hairs but they don't yet show. My mom's hair grayed in a very pretty way. She had strawberry blonde hair and as it greyed it changed into lighter shades of the red and was beautiful. At 78 she is all grey and she wears it grey, no coloring. My husband's hair is grey and he would look a lot younger if he colored his but he has no desire to.

Hubby gets his port flush this morning before we go to St. Louis. He hates it and always feels bad afterwards. It is going to be a difficult day for him because driving long distances always tires him and he's driving. I refuse to drive the luxury van we use. It belongs to DS2 son but he lets his dad drive it as it is easier on dad and more comfortable for him than our small van.

Our small van is being used by DS1. He's getting his car repaired and needed a vehicle. My wagon is old and acts up and hubby can't fit comfortable in it. I don't like to drive it long distances.

Ginny

Good Friday Morning Everyone [sm=wave.gif]

{{{Ginny}}}
Sorry to hear of you loss. Our neighbor's mother just passed away yesterday. She was 88 yrs. old. Was in a nurseing home. My neighbors just visited her yesterday morning, and left..just to be called back that she passed away. Happened very fast. It was her heart also.

The weather here is very warm. Dew points are up in the high 60's. Have the central air on since last night. Good thing I don't live more south...can't take this humid stuff [sm=shakinghead.gif]

Well I got all the grey colored away..and it feels so nice. [sm=icon_smile_kisses.gif] I'm not sure when my mom turned grey. She was dyeing her hair since she was 14 years old I guess. I know I started showing that color about 3 years ago. Made me feel better coloring it so that's what I do. The color, cut, and eyebrow waxing, cost me about $50, with the tip. Like I said..have to save up for it. But she color's my hair a really nice brown. Not to dark nor to light. So I keep going back to her.
The shopping went well also.Spent way to much, but that's how it goes. Followed my list even. Bought Brett two outfits for summer and even bought Ethan a summer outfit. Got all the greeting cards I needed and printed out my pictures on my camera card. Even bought a tire horse swing for the playset.
Have three little ones here today, and the 2 month old baby girl is calling out to me. Best tend to her...........

vmginny -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/6/2008 7:27:47 PM)

Hi Barb,
$50 doesn't sound bad for all you had done including the tip. Bet you feel like a million bucks after the primping. Even with a list, it is easy to spend too much on a shopping trip. Were you happy with your purchases?

Hubby and I just got back from St. Louis. It was a very long day. Once we got to the Federal courthouse we couldn't find the parking we were told was there so hubby kept driving around in a circle, the same circle, again and again and I kept saying lets us that person, lets ask that person and hubby kept saying no, don't.

Well by the time we had driven in circles 5 times I thought why not ask someone walking on the street where the parking is. Thought it was stupid to keep going the same circle forever. And sure enough the first person I yelled at the window at knew exactly where to direct us so we could finally park our car. And it was only $3.00 for all day parking not the $20 the lawyer said it would be because we were directed to an outdoor parking area where it was self pay.

Of course we did have a nice walk to the building, the federal courthouse is a high rise building with over 22 floors. We get inside and we have to show ID at the security area inside the lobby and I had to put my purse in a cavayer belt (know I missed spelled that). We get past security and then we didn't know where to go so we went to the fourth floor to the bankruptcy room. They told us to go back to the first floor so there we go back on these gigantic elevators down to the first floor where we were to begin with. And we found the room we were supposed to be in.

And on the way, guess who I see? One of my faculty that I work for and guess where she was going? Sure enough the same place as me. She came to support a friend. It would figure something private I want as few people to know about as possible was going to be listened to by someone I work with. Why the same day and same time as me? Her friend had the same lawyer I did.

We got there early too and I hadn't had lunch or a soda and was plumb thirsty but didn't want to leave this room to go get something. So hubby and I waited and waited and waited for the proceedings to begin. We were almost two hours early and so were the person I knew.

Once the proceedings began, the room where the bankruptcy cases were heard filled up. Guess there were 30 or forty cases heard. You wait for your name to be called then you go up to the front of the room in front of everyone else and answer your personal questions in front of everyone.

Hubby and I when we were called go to the front. I show the copy of our driver's license and ssn card and the trustee says I can't accept that. Oh no, you can't? No, you have to have the actual cards themselves. Well I had mine in my purse but hubby left his in the car. So the trustee excused us and said she would return to us later after we have had a chance to get the driver's license.

Hubby doesn't do walking well. He is not up to it so it was I who went back to the car. A very nice walk mind you. And it was raining both there and back and I have to go through security again to get in or out of the building. By the time I got back to the bankruptcy room I was soaking wet but I had hubby's driver's license and I had time to sneak a smoke in.

Hubby and I sit back down in the main room where the hearings were heard and wait and wait for our name to be called again. No one's case we heard had any creditors present.

Then finally we were called. We get sworn in and swear we will tell the truth. The driver's licenses and SSN cards are found acceptable. The hearing begins. I start answering the questions the trustee asks then low and behold I see someone besides the lawyer sitting at our table. And it is announced that for us a creditor has shown up. It would happen to be one of mine. AND NO ONE ELSE SEEN THAT DAY HAD an inquisition from a creditor besides me!

I don't remember all that was said but hubby said afterwards he was proud of me that I held up well under the bombardment of questions and presented myself well. I guess the trustee thought so too as she accepted my answers and dismissed us. Now this part is over; my day in bankruptcy court is over.

Thanks for all the prayers guys. Needlessly to say, I believe I needed them.

Ginny

leah777 -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/6/2008 8:24:45 PM)

Ginny, that sounds quite harrowing! But I'm glad it's over for you, and so very glad you held up so well -- and that hubby noticed! So where does it go from here?

Hello, everyone . . am just realizing I hadn't posted in here yet today.

Barb, your hair sounds real nice. I wish I could wait that long in between my cuts & colors, but no way . . . my hair grows nearly an inch a month, and that plays havoc with trying to keep color on the roots.

I've been really lazy today . . . got my sewing caught up except for the last order I rec'd -- even did some sewing for myself yesterday, taking in and hemming some capris. Today I went to the gym around 9:00, then came home, did a bit of weeding in a couple of the flower beds, and by that time it had started sprinkling rain. So I made a couple of phone calls, it started pouring rain, and I promptly got out a card table and a jigsaw puzzle, set it up in my newly redone 'sitting room', and watch the storm thru the big picture window we just had installed in there [:)]

I got the word right after I got settled that there were tornadoes about 15 miles from us, and I was praying that if one came thru I'd be able to see it from there and try to take cover. But all we got was a lot of noise, and a WHOLE LOT of rain! Watched a river of water running down thru my backyard, past the house and out to the road where it flooded over the road, washing away all the gravel the road district had hauled there in the last few weeks. It's a mess. But no tornadoes, and I haven't heard of any touching down anywhere close, tho apparently they were spotted.

I met Bill in town for supper tonight . . . helps my kitchen stay nice & clean -- the way I left it last night [:)][:)]

magdaleine -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/6/2008 11:00:18 PM)

Wow, Ginny! What a day!

If the person you know from work was there to support someone she knows, I'm guessing she would be sympathetic to your situation and not badmouth you at work. It's really cool that your husband complimented you like he did. Well done!

thisistheday -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 1:11:16 AM)

Hi Maggie!

Leah, I'm glad you didn't have to take cover from a tornado.

Ginny, I hope this whole ordeal is behind you now. It sounds like you handled yourself very well today.

I picked up my son from camp today. I can't tell you all how much I love that place. He looked about a year older when I picked him up, and I mean that in a good way. He made a good friend there this week, which for him is an awesome thing. That is not something that happens easily for him.

This is my son, who hates to write. I think he passed on going to Pioneer Camp this year and last because they try to get the kids to do a little bit of journaling at the end of the day. Well, this evening he said that next year he should take a notebook so he could take some notes. He thought that would be good practice. Wow!

My daughter will be there next week also. I drop her off, and she doesn't really have any friends there. I pick her up on Friday, and she has a whole camp full of new friends! I love it! She was at a smaller, all girls camp. (They have 2 campuses.)

And I camp believe my oldest baby (17) is counseling again (for the third year) this summer. When did she grow up enough to do that? She also told me she got a nice compliment about her counseling from one of those in charge this week also.

I had a nice talk with her this evening too, while another staffer/counselor we know hung out with my younger 3 kids. I do cherish those times, as they are hard to come by sometimes with 4 kids and her busy schedule, not to mention her limited time left at home.

Anyway, they do a great job there. They teach the kids to serve (they are all volunteers) as well as leadership. And they get great Biblical training.

Dee

vmginny -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 2:22:06 AM)

Leah, all that rain you watched come down hubby drove us home in and I watched from the car window. We were going 40 on the interstate. Hubby said it did touch down in our area but I forgot where he said it came down.

Maggie, good point. Thanks for pointing it out this particular faculty was supporting a friend during HER bankruptcy.

Dee, I have four kids too. Sent three of them to bible camp some went more than once. They did get the gospel presented to them. It's great your son wants to journal next year. Each time he writes, he'll get better at it and wanting to start is most of the battle. Your daughter sounds like a compassionate person.

Well, my youngest won his baseball game today. The game was at a city close enough for them to come home tonight. They got back around 9:00. Two of his teammates are staying overnight then tomorrow hubby will drive them all back for the rest of the baseball tournament and they will stay in a hotel tomorrow night.

It will be quiet tomorrow once they are gone but I am not planning another cleaning project this weekend. I am still getting over the last one. With the stress of the bankruptcy and what I did last weekend plus the rain we have been having, the fibromayglia I suffer with has been flaring up big time. I've tried to sleep but am so uncomfortable with the pain I had to get up.

Guess I'll get some reading done in the Word. I am behind in my reading.

My sister and my niece I found out tonight when I called my mom and dad have both been in the hospital. Seems my oldest sister suffers from COPD and had trouble with it. And my niece is 28 weeks pregnant. She has to be in the hospital for another month on complete bed rest and lie on her back. And my youngest sister is having a bipolar flare where she is having trouble handling things. Mom asked for prayer for these three. I said I would.

This weekend I am going to rest. No cleaning except what absolutely has to be done.

Ginny

I'm glad you made it home safe in that rain Ginny. Yay for your son on the win! Praying for you and your family.

I was thinking about garage sale-ing tomorrow if the kids were up to it, but I think I'm staying up way too late. Off to bed.

Dee

vmginny -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 8:06:33 AM)

Garage sales, that's a wonderful idea.

Thanks for mentioning it.

Got paid yesterday and who knows I might find something I need. Wonder where the ads are? Hubby usually gets the paper and it sometimes disappears before I have a chance to read it.

Ginny

thisistheday -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 5:09:55 PM)

Well, I did go to garage sales. Unfortunately I'm not disciplined enough for them to be much of a bargain sometimes. I mean, you can't just go buyinga bunch of stuff that you wouldn't get otherwise. But I mean, who can resist a Cinderella dress out outfit for fifty cents? Actually there was a bunch of stuff my 4yo would have liked at that sale, but I let her pick one thing and that was her pick. I bought a new in box GPS unit for 15 bucks. My son and my directionally challenged daughter was pretty excited about that.

I went to the community wide sales in a neighboring town even though I had a late start. The community wide ones around here are pretty much over for the year now, I think, so that's probably a good thing. Though I do love to go.

I saw a laptop for $150 dollars, but it needs a battery. But since I don't know what model it is I can't look up an exact price. My oldest will be wanting one for sure by college. I dunno. I should go price new ones online. My internet was down, had to have the cable guy tell me to disconnect and reconnect my router for it to work again. I wish I'd thought of that. I tried some other things.

Did you go garage sale-ing Ginny? Find anything good?

Dee

vmginny -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 6:13:31 PM)

Yes I did, Dee.

Got an Snow Man Avon Christmas arrangement for my daughter for $5. She collects snow men. It has a battery and a tree next to the snow man and ornaments that you put on the tree each day of Advent. The directions say the snow man will speak each time an ornament is put on the tree and on the last one will say Merry Christmas.

Also got some brand new items for work for the gift baskets given out during the Psych Fair. And I bought several books for .25 cents each.

Thought I did good.

DD and I went to the Summerfest our town had. It was very crowded. We ate lunch there DD treated me. I wore a long sleeve shirt and got overheated. Really need to get to the shed and get my summer clothes out.

Then while my 5 year old grandson was taking a nap, I babysat him and took a nap too. We just woke up.

Ginny

thisistheday -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 6:47:24 PM)

It sounds like you had a good morning shopping Ginny!

I wanted a nap this afternoon, but never quite got to it. I was doing laundry and waiting for the cable guy and my daughter to call.

Holybattleaxe -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 9:48:12 PM)

hi everybody how r ya'll for me not good i am hurting like on my hip and maybe alittle downward it really is a pain please keep me in prayer i think it might be when i was in a boat with my dad yesterday a big boat passed by and made a big wave and i like jumped in the boat u know from the wave? and i was like on the bottom of the boat and i guess it hurt me... what should i do???? [:(]

magdaleine -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/7/2008 11:18:36 PM)

Cassandra, I can't tell from what you wrote, how exactly you hurt yourself. But I'm thinking your mom will know what to do and if she doesn't, she'll know someone who does. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Dh and I just got home from a dinner party with a bunch of truant officers--a very interesting group to spend time with.

I never bother to watch for sales and even when I see them I usually don't take advantage of them (I know, very bad). But a day or two ago an ad came into my mailbox that I actually paid attention to. A new Christian bookstore was giving their mailing list customers a jump ahead of everyone else for a buy-three-novels-for-the-price-of-two sale. With my surgery coming up and me not expecting to recover quickly, reading novels will be one thing I'll be able to do even when I'm feeling pretty icky. I can read one a day so I'm trying to build up a good collection for my recovery time. I'll also use the library--I want to read the five Bourne books by Robert Ludlum.

So, what did I buy? The first thing that caught God's Word Translation. Apparently it's the first Bible to have not only translators and Biblical scholars on the team but also English literature reviewers. Maybe I'll keep one for myself to read. Another 75% off book I bought is "The Soul of the Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe," by Gene Veith. You'd think that with the Narnia movies being very popular, a book like this would sell easily so why on the sale table? I haven't a clue.

Novels. Four by Ted Dekker: "Black," "Three," "Posessed," "Showdown." "The Visitation" by Frank Peretti; "The Seeing" and "The Voice" by Bill Myers (I bought a couple books by him for my kids when they were young and was VERY impressed by them so I figure his adult books have got to be good); "My Soul to Keep" by Davis Bunn (one of my favourite novelists) and "The Dark Lord's Demise" by John White. This last book is the last of a six-book series started twenty years ago that unabashedly mimics the Narnia books. Book five is incredibly good at illustrating spiritual warfare through fiction and I've heard that book six is even better.

The last book was the only book not on sale but I had to buy it: "The Heart of Female Same-Sex Attraction" by Janelle Hallman, a woman who has spent many years counselling women struggling with ssa. There is very little written specifically for women on this topic. Most of the books focus on men so I HAD to buy it. [:)][:)][:)]

thisistheday -> RE: Daily Chat Thread June 2 thru June 8 (6/8/2008 1:36:44 AM)

Try to take it easy Cassandra, and like Maggie said your mom can help you figure out what more you need.

Sounds like some good books Maggie. My daughter's boyfriend and one of her girlfriends are Ted Dekker fans. So she's read him some too.

Dee
