NEWS FLASH!!

Naomi & The Segos will be performing at this event late in the afternoon. This great legendary lady has certainly been in the news a lot lately with the passing of her dear friend, Dottie Rambo. She has received a huge amount of attention, too, about the future of her public minstry. This would be an AWESOME opportunity to see her IN PERSON and see for yourself how she is doing and what her future plans are!!

Missy or Charlie, Do you know what other groups might be there on Saturday. Tony announced the singing on his program but only name a couple of groups that were gonna be there. Said he still had openings.

Tony had Foster come by his house to get some flyers for us to give to our church people. I didn't get to bring one home. The only groups I remember are:

The Lambdins
Tne Bridgemans
The Lemings
Heavenly Expressions
The Parrish Family

There were several solo artists, but I only remember:
Tony Peace
Eddie Crook

There were 16 total, though. I just can't remember them!! I'm sure it'll all be good.
Hope to see you all there. I'll be helping emcee some during the early afternoon portion.

Charlie

WOW!!! Now I'm even more excited. She was so sweet to us when we sang with her before. What a blessing to get to work with this LEGEND again!

I assured him that he had left the program in VERY good, capable hands! You'll do a great job, I'm sure!

No doubt about that! [:)]

Wish you could've joined us too!

The day was good but quite long. We heard a lot of different artists so that was nice. There was truly a variety of music and styles, etc...there so there should've been something for everyone!

It was great to work with Eddie Crook again and Tony Peace was absolutely amazing to work with! He was so easy-going and was just great!

My highlight of the day was hearing The Lemings! They were awesome! I had never heard them before and WOW!!! We also love The Bridgemans and The Parish Family so it was great to work with both of those groups again.

Of course, Ms. Naomi brought the house down with her segment! She is truly an icon in our industry and I was honored to be on the same program with her again. By the way, she ASSURES everyone that she IS NOT retiring and has no plans to even consider it! She will sing until the Lord calls her home I guess.

Overall, we had a wonderful day! Sorry you couldn't make it.......maybe next time!

I got to meet ScriptureMan from our forum family here and, of course, my longtime friend, JChaz was there and did a FINE job as emcee! Foster, it was great to see you too!

Saturday was GREAT!! I was hoping to do a post Saturday evening, but I kinda got to feeling poorly during the concert... can you say KIDNEY STONES ???

I spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and early evening in a local Urgent Care center getting bloodwork and x-rays and all that COOL stuff. I finally got to meet 'Rocky' this morning, but 'Stoney' and 'Boulder' (we'll call him 'Bo' for short) haven't quite made an appearance yet...
Hopefully they will soon.

Foster sang me a few bars of Dottie Rambo's classic "It Will Pass" last night. [:D]
That really made me feel better...

I enjoyed hanging out with my buddies 'The Lambdins', 'The Lemings' and a new friend from Oklahoma, 'Sheila Tillery'. She and her family visited with our church on Sunday Morning. She sang 3 songs, and was a great blessing to us. We had a nice lunch at the soon-to-be-famous "Vinings Grill". Hope they made it home OK.

Of course, the highlight (for me) was getting to play for Sister Naomi and a couple of awesome guys, Tony Peace & Scott Spangler. We three looked like 'bouncers' or Security Guards along side the sweet little legend lady. Who knows, we might just do that again sometime!! Wouldn't THAT start some rumors??

Eddie & Janice Crook are always a joy to be around. "Let's go git us a big ole stake, Ed!"

Hopefully, Tony will have another Showcase Concert like this. It was SO fun!! I loved it all.

Ooooooooo.........poor Charlie!

My hubby suffers from "your little friends" too so I know you must be in pain.

Maybe all that jumping around backstage Saturday knocked them all loose inside or something! Lord knows you ran around like a chicken with your head cut off all day but did a marvelous job! Had a great time hanging out with you too!

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Tony Peace Gospel Jubilee Showcase (6/17/2008 9:16:40 AM)

SinginGal, did you get a chance to give my message to the Bridgeman's????

Well, actually Santa, I must admit that I was a bad girl and totally forgot in the chaos of everything Saturday until I got home Saturday night and was reviewing this thread again. At that point, I emailed Travis and told him about your message so maybe he will respond to you soon. Sorry!

Also..............a correction on an earlier message I had posted. I said that I mean ScriptureMan but it was actually Mr. Scripture.....sorry for the incorrect name there!

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Tony Peace Gospel Jubilee Showcase (6/17/2008 9:40:22 AM)

Not sure if Travis has changed his email address in the past year or not but my prayer partner emails quit going thru to him. So have not been in touch with him in several months.

jchaz -> RE: Tony Peace Gospel Jubilee Showcase (6/17/2008 10:42:35 AM)

Santa,
I just 'googled' Antioch Baptist Church in Cumming, GA. Their website has an email contact link. I'm sure that whoever checks that could forward you to Travis, or you might could get in touch with him via the church telephone.
Charlie

edit:
Just noticed that there is a link to "The Bridgeman's" site, as well. That might be a more direct way to contact them.

Smokymtnsanta -> RE: Tony Peace Gospel Jubilee Showcase (6/17/2008 11:11:05 AM)

Thanks Charlie. I have their phone number but not the current email address. I will check that out. They come to the mountains occasionally but have not heard from them lately. Have met them to eat several times while theyw ere here.

Justsheila -> RE: Tony Peace Gospel Jubilee Showcase (6/19/2008 1:47:06 PM)

Hello all, I would like to say I had a great time there in Austell, Ga at Tony Peace's Gospel Showcase. Meeting all the other singing groups and solo artist was fun. I loved working with Tony and Mr Crook. I learned a lot from them both. It is a mircle that having just coming off walking with a cane for over 6 months after an accident, I could go and preform at the event. Charlie I want to thank you specially for your help at the show and your church for their kindness in letting me sing there Sunday. Your Mom, you and Foster are great people and my husband and I and Sharh loved the Up and Comming Infamous Vinnings. The converstaions and advise you both gave is greatly appericated and I can not thank you guys enough for your friendship and encourgment.
