Was that an animated movie? (I guess you can tell that I'm not an avid movie goer.) [;)]

Sometimes lazy can be good. [:)]

What were the most spectacular fourth of July fireworks you've ever seen?? I think I would have to say the ones in Baltimore, MD and also in Washington, D.C. were the best for me. What say you?

humbleinspirit -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/9/2008 6:43:38 PM)

Yes, it was a Pixar fillm. Computer imaged instead.

A few years ago in Boston was very nice.

The most memorable was the first time that I saw them back in 1983 however.

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/9/2008 7:18:05 PM)

I've never been to Boston. If I were making a New England multi-state tour, should I bother seeing Boston? What would be notable attractions there, aside from colleges?

humbleinspirit -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/9/2008 7:20:17 PM)

There is a lot of history here, as well as cultural stuff and restaurants and sports teams as well.

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/9/2008 8:12:01 PM)

I'm sitting here under my beach umbrella eating a cannoli my husband brought home. Yum! Love those pistachios! We won't discuss the calories, at least for now. [:)]

What's your favorite dessert? Mine is lemon meringue pie.

humbleinspirit -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/9/2008 8:12:33 PM)

I usually like chocolate cake myself.[;)]

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/9/2008 9:01:26 PM)

I used to really, really love chocolate; but over the years the novelty must've worn off. I still like it; but I don't normally crave it. Now, I do like peanut M & M's these days as a treat here and there.

For Christmas, my sister and I used to get those huge Hershey kisses! What were my parents thinking? I usually polished mine off in a few days; whereas my darling sister made hers last for weeks! I never knew how she did it! [;)]

What are your thoughts on the upcoming presidential election? candidates? [8|] ....

If you've read my blog, you know mine already... just curious.

2shaye -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/10/2008 6:12:09 PM)

Scootchie, schootchie! I'm heeeeeeere!

Sorry I haven't been by sooner crazed - I've been, well, crazed! My 13 yo dd has another week of school so we are all scurrying around getting projects completed, finding lost library books and studying for finals! Since we will be going to New York on the 21st, I've also got that load! [&:]

I love your blog! Ya wanna hear another crazy coincidence? I've been a Christian for 33 years too! But, I am a bit older than you - 6 more years!

How are the wedding plans today? I'll find our from my son's fiance where she ordered her invitations. How many do you need? Isn't there a price break at like 100, or something? I think she's getting 120, but I'm not sure.

For party favors, they are doing tiny glass milk jugs on a round mirror thingie as a centerpiece. Let me see if I can explain - round mirror, glass jugs filled with a few flowers, surrounded by tea lights and greenery. Each guest will get to take a jug of flowers home. They are low so people can still talk, and she said they are super, super cheap. Plus, they are doubling for the centerpieces! I'll try to get more info on that for you, too. Like I said earlier, I'm not being included too much on the planning. I'm learning already how to be an unobtrusive mother in law!

I need to get my kids up from their naps now. Enjoy the sun! I'll bring some Hawaiian Tropic tomorrow!

humbleinspirit -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/10/2008 10:09:46 PM)

I am hoping that McCain wins, he is the least of 3 evils.

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/10/2008 10:46:03 PM)

Well, I've been saving a spot for you, 2shaye! Nice of you to join us! [:D] Thanks for the wedding ideas, etc. The guest list stands at about 150-175 right now.

That is too funny about the 33 years thing too! Speaking of being an unobtrusive m-i-l... it hit me last night that perhaps I was taking on more than necessary. Well, I really should say it was the Lord whispering to my soul when He said, "I'm relieving you of this burden." Aren't you glad he deals with us so gently most of the time? Well, I guess I took the cues from my son that they didn't have a clue as to where to begin, as they needed help desperately. In reality, I need to let them do what they can and I'll do what they ask of me. (In my defense, ds did ask me to do some tasks.) :) When did the roles so drastically change? I'm the Mom afterall! I used to be able to be in control, help the kids, have a say; but now I'm somewhat unnecessary. Can you say, "Ouch"?

I was browsing in our Goodwill Bookstore today and picked up a couple of wedding info. books. My feathers really became ruffled when I read their description of the role of the Mother of the Groom. They said, "It has been said that the mother of the groom should wear beige and keep her mouth closed and enjoy the day." Well! I never!... So, we're having them over for dinner on Sun. to discuss the wedding plans along with her mother. I think it'll be very good and we'll all understand what is expected of us better then. You've probably seen all the movies where the parents act out so much when it comes to the planning of the wedding... Well, we'll be nothing like that, I guarantee you. But, it still presents its challenges; especially when it appears the parents of the bride are not contributing whatsoever to the wedding. Well, that's my drama for today... ruffled feathers and all! [&:]

As to the presidential election... Yes, McCain it will be for many of us; although, as I've said, I don't know anyone who is terribly excited by him. It'll be interesting to see him debate Obama. I pray that until then, he gets lots of p.r. training or acting lessons, something...

2shaye -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/11/2008 12:55:19 PM)

Here is a link to their invitations they've chosen. They will have a pink ribbon instead of gold. Their colors are pink and brown. I've got an email out to her to get more details of the favors, so I'll let you know!

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/11/2008 2:36:29 PM)

Oh, thanks! Don't go to too much trouble. I spoke with a friend from church who will do all of the decorating, and I'm so relieved because she's very creative! She and another friend will handle that aspect of it. And, it turns out my feathers were mostly unnecessarily ruffled afterall! My ds does want me to help out with some things, so I was glad to hear it. That'll teach me to read those "expert" books. I guess their advice pertained more so if the bride's family were assuming a traditional role, which they are not. (then, I'd be quiet!) :) At any rate, I'm no longer in panic state of "gotta get stuff done", but more so a joyful one again.

Okay, okay, so you say... enough wedding stuff already!! [:D]

Who do you think McCain will choose for a running mate? Who do you think he SHOULD choose? What areas other than defense do you think McCain will be well suited?

By the way, their wedding invitations are gorgeous! Is it an evening wedding?

Late afternoon - 4 pm. My son just came home for lunch and I was telling him about our conversation and he informed me that they've changed their minds (or she has! [&:]) again and this isn't the exact invitation.......

Oh well....

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/11/2008 7:39:39 PM)

I think it's the nature of the beast, isn't it? (Minds changing during wedding planning!) :) My son's wedding will be at 5p.m. He said they wanted an evening wedding, so I told him they need to be done so they can eat somewhere around 6p.m. (that's just my preference) My son said they want a simple ceremony, somewhat short. They'll take the pictures prior to the ceremony, which I think is very thoughtful. Then, the guests don't have to wait and wait at the reception.

What else is going on with everyone? Wedding, wedding, that's all I've been saying! [:D]

Heya Crazed...

I actually like the idea of taking pictures before the ceremony. I always thought that if/when I get married that's what I would want done. And re: the groom seeing the bride before the wedding - I thought it would be cool to set up the pose (before wedding) so the groom could like turn around and see me in my dress and capture the reactions...

...I've waited through too many photography sessions I think.

Will they be doing a unity candle? Communion?

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/12/2008 8:04:22 AM)

No, they won't be doing either. My dd will read either a love poem or I Cor. 13 during the ceremony, and we have to find someone to sing at the wedding. Bit by bit, we're nailing down details. My ds called last night to say we need to change the date!! Apparantly there's a conflict with the bride and her bridesmaids taking off work on that day, so we're looking at 3 weeks earlier now. We need to see if that date works for the church and for our Pastor. If so, then we're good to go again. [:)]

The bride's gown may take 12 weeks to get back in! She's going again today to try on more gowns.

Anyone have ideas on a song to be sung at the wedding? Some have the "Lord's Prayer" sung or a love song. ??

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/12/2008 3:34:51 PM)

Okay... We have a tornado warning here until this evening with up to 60 mph. I guess our hurricane season is kicking off with a bang! There have been reports of hail the size of pennies or larger just now. Wow! I'm really hoping that my dh will pick up my ds from bb camp. Our SUV is terrible in high winds as the wind gets right up under the truck and makes it hard to control.

I'll keep you posted...

2shaye -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/12/2008 4:08:20 PM)

Oh crazed, you and your family are in my prayers! Please keep us posted! I'm praying for you!

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/12/2008 5:18:38 PM)

Thank you so much for your prayers!! We are fine! The storm was fierce, though. The wind was just howling around the house and my daughter was ready to hide in the closet! She put her stuffed animals in there for safe keeping. [;)]

My dh did wind up picking my ds up from bb camp, so I was relieved. It has stopped raining and the wind has died down now. Thank God! Our storms can seemingly come out of no where and they can be incredibly strong!

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/13/2008 2:12:45 PM)

Did you guys see the news about the floods in Iowa? They said they haven't been to this degree in 500 years! They certainly need our prayers! There have been so many unprecedented storms of late, and they can only point to the end times. What do you think? Do you think God allows these so people may call on God at their time of need?

humbleinspirit -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/15/2008 2:23:56 AM)

Hi Crazedmom, its quite possible that God does allow that for a reason, and yes the floods look really bad as well!

crazedmom -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/15/2008 8:07:50 AM)

Hey there! How's your weekend going? Mine has been fairly quiet and wonderful.

Anybody have any hobbies they want to share? (or whatever's on your mind)...

humbleinspirit -> RE: I Saved a Spot For You On The Beach... (6/15/2008 7:01:06 PM)

Hi Crazedmom, I really like analyzing radio stations and why they do what they do to compete with one another, etc. I also enjoy listening to music, traveling, gathering and reading various news stories also.
