I'm listening to Royce Mitchell - Truckin' On.

It's a good CD—and since it has "Long Black Train" on it, you know the rest of it has to be really good for me to say that it's good!

I can't stand "Long Black Train!"

Me either! Leave the depressing songs to the country singers.

NOT depressing. REAL.

And the song say's, "There's Victory in the Lord I say. Victory in the Lord; Cling to the Father and His Holy Name; and Don't go ridin' that LONG BLACK TRAIN!"

A pastor gives that as counsel everyday and every sermon.
People ...even those in the church, face challenges and problems
with habits and addictions. This song is right on target. It ministers to lots of people. LBT is not designed to depress but to encourage. It does just that. Not every song is everybody's favorite. But if a song ministers, it has value. Amen.

I agree. It's not favorite of minebut lots of people love it and it's message. Almost all of the male regional artists that I know around Chattanooga have it in their repertoire. I'm thankful so many others sing it so I've only had to sing it a couple of times on the High Cholestrol Circuit.

Real and depressing aren't always opposites. IMHO, the song just spends too much time on the depressing part before getting to the resolution.

Hard to argue with good, classic quartet singing!

I was just listening to Phil Cross - 25th Anniversary.

As I just posted in the Geezer thread, I'm listening to my first SG CD collection of hymns from SG artists like Hovie Lister & The Statesmen, The Masters V, The Kingsmen Quartet, etc. I like it very much, especially the groups I've listed here.

You'd enjoy the one he put out last year, too. It's called "Eric Bennett & Family) and has his son, daughter, and one of his brothers on it. The highlight (for me) was a love song he wrote for his wife!

I'm gonna have to go pull it out and listen to it!

Very good I might add....I'm not sure of my favorite...either "In the Garden" or "How Great Thou Art".
