At the University of California, Irvine the Muslim Student Union (MSU), a virulently anti-Semitic and anti-American student group, holds several programs which unabashedly support terrorist groups and unjustly denounce Israel, America, and the Western world. MSU events have featured speakers like Norman Finkelstein, Ward Churchill, Muhammad al-Asi and Amir Abdel Malik Ali, and have had titles such as "Hamas: the People's Choice" and "Israel: The 4th Reich."

On May 12, 2008 the Muslim Student Union invited Muhammad al-Asi to speak on the main part of the campus in front of the flag poles. Al-Asi has spoken at UC Irvine before, and his speeches are usually riddled with stereotypical tirades on Jews and unrepentant affirmations of terrorist acts on American and Israel.

Out of all the MSU’s speakers, al-Asi has the most lurid personal history. A former Air Force Officer, al-Asi became radicalized by the 1979 Iranian Revolution, and is an avid admirer of the late Ayatollah Khomeini. In 1983, he was removed from his position at the Islamic Center in Washington D.C. for being too radical, and since then, he preaches his hateful message in front of the very same mosque to passers-by. Al-Asi also makes regular trips to Iran to meet hard-line officials, and as reported by the Washington Post, is under constant surveillance from the United State’s government.

Al-Asi’s hateful message was on full display during this year’s hate week. With a speech peppered with pro-terrorist and anti-Semitic overtones, he didn’t disappoint his keffiyah wearing devotees of the Muslim Student Union. In referring to the fate of the Israeli state, al-Asi boasted about the increasing endangerment of the concentrated Jewish population in the Middle East, and the pent up aggression of their Arab neighbors:.....

.....During the last day of events this quarter, on May 15th, a Jewish female’s civil rights were violated when she was threatened by members of the Muslim Student Union for videotaping Amir Abdel Malik-Ali’s evening lecture. According to a community member who witnessed the event, the female and her male companion were followed back to their car and surrounded by six male Muslim students. The witness then became a victim of intimidation when one of the students situated themselves on the hood of her car to photograph her vehicle identification (VIN) number. He then subsequently took photographs of her face and license plate. The UC Irvine Campus police officers on duty witnessed the entire event, but stood idly when the alleged crime occurred. When the community member called the watch commander later that night, he explained that the Muslim Student’s were just “getting back at the Jews.”

If they (MSU) have the intellectual integrity (which it doesn't sound like they do) they should invite some former Al-Qaeda bigwigs to speak: Usama Hassan, a Dr. Fadl, Noman Benotman, Salman Al Oudah. These have been jihadists who supported Usama bin Laden and now have openly spoken out against him.

God bless abundantly,

MSU people need the Lord badly. I would hope that these former Al-Qaeda would get saved as well.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why would anyone expect a Muslim Student Union to present a "balanced"group of speakers? I was in the Baptist Student Union in college and our programs weren't "balanced", either. And, there is the little issue of free speech.

Looks like the First Amendment lives at UC Irvine!

Funny but I didn't read the part where the student union was blowing up campus buildings? So what's the big deal about a bunch of fanatics spewing their idiocy?

Would it be more acceptable if they were wrapped in the American flag and calling for the US to nuke Iran?

We supported the Palestinian right to elect Hamas. We helped make that bed now we can just sleep in it.

You are too intelligent to infer that from my statement!

The "civil rights" of those persons were violated. They had every right to be there and videotape the lecture. They weren't violating anyone's rights doing that. In fact, I hope they videotaped the guys on their car. That would help in their prosecution for civil rights violations.

So how many people attended this rally? A key fact to compare to the number of threatening students (6). I couldn't get that informtion from that obviously "un-biased" source!

Yes, I neglected to point out the obvious bias of the source itself, certainly just as stridently pro-Israel. Didn't find any Muslim-sounding names among the list of columnists ("pundits" they are called by the site.

The best part, though, is the ad on the page for "Muslima.com", where one can find "beautiful single Muslim women" ROFLOL. Guess the webmaster missed that one.

My favorite is still the WND column linking Obama w/ Che Guevera, because some Obama supporters had made Obama t-shirts in the style of the famous Che picture. Meanwhile, there was a banner ad running on the left side of the page advertising identical t-shirts, except w/ Ronald Reagan as the hero.

I have read some of James Madison's stuff and he was all for protecting the freedoms of religion and speech, etc., but not if the existence of the State is threatened in some way by what is being done or if other people's freedoms are violated. I don't think the UC Muslims threaten the existence of the State - but we shouldn't underestimate a very real potential for violence that could be in some of them. We need people to be able to bring light into the situation, but since so many in America now reject Christ they have no light to shed on current events and situations - whether with Iran, North Korea, Al-Qaeda, Palestine. Most leaders and Americans dwell in the darkness and the darkness is in them. We live in a post-Christian America now.

God bless all abundantly,
Galadriel2
