Although I was born there, I don't live there anymore, so I will answer, then come back in awhile to erase this post. Far-northern California is my most favorite place in the world. I love the redwoods, the ocean, the air, the people. i even breathe differently when I am there -- it is like my lungs know to take in all the air they can hold. I especially love to breathe deeply while standing in a morning fog. I love how it is so laid-back. I love the way 101 winds through the redwood, around the trees, respecting the trees. I love the light clouds that hang over the ocean. I love the cool temperatures all year around. i love the Victorians, the seafood, the little shops. I love eating in old lumberjack cafes. There is nothing I dislike about Northern California. Indeed, they ought to change the name of Eureka, adding that exclamation mark.

ive been here my whole life. never left it once, though i plan to change that some day asap. my favorite part of this place is the mountains and the trees. i visited yosemite for the first time a few weeks ago, and decided that glacier point at night is one of the coolest things i've seen in my entire life. i live in the central valley though, and the only thing i dont like about this area is the summer heat. even though i'm born and raised here, i cant stand the triple digit weather we get evvvvvvvvvvery summer.

Yosemite is awesome! We used to go there once a year or so! quote:

Lacey- I hear ya! I hate the heat! We have no central a/c or pool. Two of our neighbors have pools though. We do have four window units, but they are expensive to run! We're having beautiful weather now though!! Been opening the house up all night and keeping it closed all day. The inside temp has been staying about 70 or so.

Hmm.. What do I love.. I love that my husband has a job that he adores, gets treated well at and pays very nicely. I love the weather from Sept - April. May-Aug is too hot unless you have a/c. We had central in last apartment and are having a window unit put in this weekend at our new place. There are things that I like, but those are the two that I love.

I love that in an hour I can be in the mountains, the desert or the beach. I can drive one direction to busy L.A. or the other direction to peaceful Santa Barbara. It's a great place but I sometimes envy those people who have "seasons".

I thought you only wanted people who still live in California, so I just wanted to say what I loved, then erase it. If it is all right that I love California but must live elsewhere right now, I will leave it. I miss California. I haven't even had a chance to visit in about 5 years now, and that is entirely too long.

I don't really miss "seasons" at all. Seasons = snow. Snow = shoveling. No thanks!

You get those in Concord. I grew up outside of Sacramento and we had them. Winters were about as harsh as I cared for, never could understand people that lived in snow country. Living in SoCal, we don't really have season. Lack of season is hardly a Calfornia thing, since certain areas have them and certain areas don't. But if you want snow in winter, there's dozens of places in California, one can live and experience it.

My dad always says that if you spend more time shoveling your car out and warming it up than your your intended drive, then you live in the wrong place. Exactly. You have the same weather I grew up with, so you have seasons. My college roommate was\is from Concord, so on the breaks, when we would go home, we often would visit each other. Pretty much the same weather. Sure winter in Concord CA is a lot more mild than winter in Concord NH, but like your dad says....

I forgot how cold it gets here though. I spent the last 12-13 years in Indiana. I moved back her Thanksgiving of 2007. I left Indiana and they were having their first snow fall. Didn't feel that cold. I just about froze to death once the plane landed until around April! LOL! The temps "feel" colder.

I have a great job here in NorCal, the nice weather year-round, and ALOT of golf courses (the nice once are near Snata Cruz/Monterey). And we rarely get the thunderstorms that hit Florida (except in the Sierra.) Lake Tahoe is breathtaking; when the valley hits 102 F, a nice afternoon drive up Hwy 88 gets you into cooler weather.

Beautiful San Diego here! I moved here from Washington State when I was 5 and grew up here...moved to Los Angeles when I got married and then moved back. I have family in Los Angeles and in San Francisco so I hit those two cities often. I absolutely LOVE San Francisco...gorgeous city! Gosh, what's not to like about San Diego? Beautiful weather, the beaches, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, The San Diego Chargers & Padres...fun things to do year round! People flock here for vacations, so you know it's a great place and that's the only down side for us who live here...Tourist Season!! quote:
CALIFORNIA Roll BTW, I love California Rolls!

What do I love about California? Well, I'm prejudiced, I think, 'cause my dad's side of the family has been in the Gold Rush Country here since around 1850. My roots grow deep in these golden foothills, and so therefore does my heart. I love visiting other places, but I always miss California...two hours to Tahoe, two hours to San Francisco, cities, wildlands, farms, suburbs, rocky coastlines, sandy beaches, deserts, mountains... What a place!

My mom's maternal family is originally from Michigan and transferred here sometime in the '30's. Her paternal family is the Hatfields from the Hatfield/McCoy fued. My paternal grandfather's family came here in 1912 from Germany and settled in NE. My paternal grandmother came here in 1919 from Sweden and settled in SD. She and grandpa met sometime around 1935 and they "had to get married and move away" (because that's what you did when a young woman was found to be in a "family way" before they were married). They came to Lodi, CA and never really left the area. In fact, I live in the first house they were able to buy. By that time they had six children and had been married about 15 years.

I think the highest compliment I can pay San Diego is that wherever I go (even to Hawaii), when I return and the airplane starts it's landing approach and I get a glimpse of our beautiful Downtown and harbor...I'm always excited and happy to be back "home."

I've lived here my entire life. In fact, I live about 20 minutes from my childhood home and as much as some of the things going on in California can drive me nuts(mostly politics and liberalism), I love it here! It's my home and where all my family is. There is no end to the great produce here and since I live in a smallish town, we have a safe, friendly, hometown area that I really love. Plus, not many states put you near the ocean and the mountains at the same time. I'm an hour drive from either and love being able to do day trips to those places. I live in the central valley, so the heat my only real complaint here. But, those are the days when I hibernate with the A/C and try not to go out!

That sounds a lot like our street. Our town is pretty good sized. Our street seems almost forgotten about. We didn't get street lights until the late '80s or early '90s. Totally ruined late night hide-n-seek games for our children! All of our neighbors know each other and we go out of our way to check on each other.
