Well- cowboy boots really are only sensible for cowboys and cowgirls.

I only wear mine when I'm pretending to be a cowgirl. That's pretty sensible, I think.

mutinywxgirl -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/13/2008 5:08:36 AM)

I love cowboy boots!!!!!!! They are some of THE most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. It was a must when I lived in TX. And truth be told - I'd get some here in FL, but it's just too hot.

Appropriateness is the key, for sure.

I wear comfortable flats most of the week, but I like heels (not probably more than 2 inches) for church, concerts, and other nice occasions. I can feel the change in stance.

Kimberly, you didn't wear heels when you were driving, did you?

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned toe cleavage yet. I love to try to show a little.

yes, pammy...i have actually done that! lol

the last day of our CDL training, our group of 4 students (2 men and 2 women) and 1 instructor all went for a 3 hr drive. we all took turns. well...the other woman and i had had the SAME idea that morning and both of us wore high heels (mine were 3-1/2" stillettos, of course). the men didn't think i could do it...but i did! and when i parked that big boy at the truck stop and got out to walk into the restaurant...a bunch of drivers that had been watching the student driver-plastered truck all started honkin their air horns. it was a riot!!!! (i curtsied and waved, of course [:)] )

Weird Al sings a song called "Driving a Truck" where its this really deep manly voice singing about driving his semi while wearing high heels. Pam, you now have that song stuck in my head every time I look at this thread. I hope you're satisfied. [8D]

Ohmigosh! I was thinking the exact same thing! It doesn't help that the Things were wearing my shoes the other day being silly (and Thing 1 was happy that we're in the same size shoe now!) and Thing 2 was singing, "Drivin' a truck...with my high heels on..." *giggle*

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/13/2008 7:07:30 PM)

Does anyone else like Skechers? I think they make a sensible shoe. Most styles are too casual for a job interview, but probably not a date. Hmm... depends on the date maybe.

It just cracks me up that we're still talking about shoes. [:D]

What cracks me up is that there are men here talking about shoes.

i have a pair of skechers. after they were about a year old, they became my driving shoes. they just slip on and are soooo comfortable! (i don't think they're worth paying full-price for, tho!)

LOL What cracks me up is that we're talking about toe cleavage and then someone talks about being cracked up. (Please! Let's not talk about that cleavage!)

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 2:43:21 AM)

Yeah, let's not talk about that. It's not all it's cracked up to be. [;)]

woodwind228 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 11:46:06 AM)

ROFLOL

Say no to crack, right?!

I've heard it said that when you go for a job interview you should be sure your shoes look good. Prospective employers look at your shoes. Getting that job may boil down to whether or not you wore the right shoes. Do you think the same thing applies (no pun intended) for dating?

Men, do you prefer women in sensible shoes?

Women, do you even look at what the man has on his feet?

Ok, I have seen this thread around for at least a few days now and finally decided to click on it, and happy that I did! Anyway, what kind of shoes make an impression? High Heels and ballet flats and pumps, positive impression for a date. Crocs, sneakers, etc, bad impression for a date instead. [:D]

Woah, now I missed that one! Is it on his latest CD?

Yep, I find skechers to be among some of the most comfortable shoes made. But I agree, I wouldn't pay full price either... but then just about the only things I do pay full-price for are gas and food.

broyce1981 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 5:41:03 PM)

I agree with Mike, I am not a fan of Crocs. And I hear they get caught in escalators too!

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 6:35:27 PM)

Making a mental note not to wear crocs near escalators. Oh wait, I don't even wear crocs. Nevermind. I'm safe.

Speaking of sneakers, does anyone know why we call them sneakers? Where did that originate?

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 6:38:07 PM)

I wore flipflops on those moving sidewalks and about killed myself.

But I was also running across the airport to get to my flight. [8|]

broyce1981 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 6:38:42 PM)

Sneakers were named by an advertising guy who said the shoes would make you more stealthy and sneaky when playing.

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 6:43:17 PM)

And what was the advertising guy's name? I want names and sources, please. [:)]

broyce1981 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 6:45:23 PM)

At least that's what I read on Wikipedia! [:)]

So, there's a chance it's not true.

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 6:47:39 PM)

Wait a minute! You mean not everything you read over the internet, like on wikipedia may not be true? That's outrageous! I try to get all my facts from the internet. j/k [;)]

shemaromans -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 7:39:20 PM)

Wouldn't the most sensible shoes be able to smell or touch? taste or see? How about a pair of shoes that can hear? [:D]

broyce1981 -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 7:44:49 PM)

Shema, I used to have a pair of shoes that had pockets on them so you could save money in them. Saving money is pretty sensible too, isn't it!?

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 7:52:32 PM)

What about shoes with GPS? That'd be pretty sensible too. [:)]

RosieCotton -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 8:24:39 PM)

then, Big Brother would really know what we were up to!! [8|]

I do not understand how sneakers could be a bad choice for a date.......Mike r u being serious???

BugLady -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 9:14:03 PM)

*sigh* somehow I don't think Big Brother even needs GPS... but he does need a pretty high GPA.......... [;)]

RosieCotton -> RE: Sensible Shoes (6/14/2008 9:32:59 PM)

[sm=eek.gif] you are so right! [8|] lol
