you are always invited to all join us if you want to (your brother too if he can leave base) or if the mess hall doesn't work out for you.

Thanks for the invite! My brother's captain emailed me back and he said that my husband and I could be on the Thanksgiving list. That is good. I would be bummed if we had to spend Thanksgiving apart when we were already there.

Harvie- LOVE your announcement!

Mine leaves in the morning. We are going to town early and having breakfast at McD's and a friend is going to pick him up and drive him to Ft Bragg. I have college--- but really I had already decided that I couldn't "do it" I'd be bawling before we got to base to drop him off and would NOT be able to drive the 1.5 hours back this way. I am not 100% sure about the pal that IS driving him... I suggested he ask the pastor. he didn't. I did fuss at him for it. *sigh*

Counting? Pay periods? we do once a month so pay periods would = months so I dunno what I'll count... The seconds?

(approximately )9,763.200 Seconds to go til he comes home again... yeah I am trying to joke about it- Failing miserably though.

We get paid twice a month .... so our pay periods come every 15 days or so.

You are in my prayers, too.

My Honey left to go back to Ft Bragg this morning- He got a call last night telling him he'd be flying out of an airport nearer to home than Ft Bragg with the advance party one day this weekend. They told him he could come HOME friday night and leave from here!

That was AWESOME NEWS!

Then he called me a few minutes after I got home from the college- He is being allowed to come home TONIGHT! He has to be back tomorrow morning at 9am but they are going to allow him to SLEEP at home. Hopefully thrusday night too- It will depend on what time they need him back on Base Friday morning. if it is EARLY then he will not be able to spend thursday night here.

I am HAPPY to get the extra time!

Prayers in Action folks!

Justin called from Kuwait last night!
He should be here tomorrow, or maybe monday morning. I won't know till he calls me from Atlanta.
So close! He's almost here!

Honey's ride bailed on us and even after the ride was shortened by half- from our place to RDU instead of from Ft Bragg to RDU. So honey has made other arrangements.

I am terrified that I will have to carry him out there. Just thinking about having to do it makes me want to bawl. We were having so much fun and enjoying each others company so much til this came about last night and I have felt like just falling apart since. Like my head is trying to convince my heart that it need to get prepared to make the trip to RDU cause the new ride is a bit OCD (has a certain way things have to happen before he will leave the house) and *ahem* flakey- don't get me wrong, I love him to death (he is my BIL) But my head says it is not going to happen--- ON TIME--- it'll happen, but an hour late and that is not a good thing with the military and formations and all. Might work in his world but not in ours.

Too late.

My sister just called to let me know they got permission from their supervisor for him to make the trip down to do it. She also asked about the time line. Then she came to the conclusion that he needed to be here no later than 6:30am to have Jerry at the armory by 8:00am. It is an hours drive from here to there.

I feel kinda bad- BIL is gonna drive 1 hour from Oxford to here then 1 hour from here to RDU then another hour back to Oxford. My whimp-ish-ness is putting him out.

Honey reports that the Atlanta Airport REEKS--- However the Atlanta Airport USO has sweet WiFi. We chatted on Yahoo for about 2 hours earlier. We were even able to pull up the web cams. said "I am paying for the net in my quarters I don't care how much it costs" about every 30 minutes. Making faces at me on the web cam. My cam's Mic is only working bout half the time so I'll need to get a better one so we can actually chat, HEAR and SEE one another all at the same time!

I know not all soldiers have the same accommodations he has. One of the guys at church worked a big Dozer doing bridge construction and said he actually SLEPT in the dozer every night. He said it kept it safe and was actually more comfy than the "quarters" provided on the job site. I could not imagine sleeping in a dozer- no matter how HUGE it was.

I PROTEST! Actually, I used to travel a lot for business, and I found that the Atlanta Airport extremely efficient and nice considering it moves more people then any other other airport in the world. (Plus it's my home airport, so it always looked good to me.)

That's great that you were able to chat and webcam. I remember seeing lots of military guys there when I traveled, but they were often hanging out in separate areas.

He was STUCK there from 11am til 8pm--- anyone stuck there, unable to leave. and *ahem* on their way someplace other than home for the next 10 months might see it as he saw it.

Well, if he were stuck there and on his home to you, that I could understand... otherwise, why the rush? No, I'm only joking. I'm sorry he was stuck there for 9 hours. I'll be praying for him tonight, that he has smooth travels and stays good and safe.

Airports, no matter where they are or how nice they are, are the pits. I think I like the Dallas USO best, but the Denver USO is nice, too.

I haven't been to any USO's in airports, but of the Air Force places we have been we have been very impressed with both Ramstein Germany and Dover Delaware
