VisitorinWaiting -> What could it be? (6/9/2008 8:18:50 AM)

For the past couple of days, I have had cramping in my stomach...sometimes severe, but it would go away after a while. I haven't felt well...just tired and weak, no appetite...just generally not feeling great. I have also had some diarrhea with blood. This has been this way for the past couple of days as well. I looked it up online, and it said fissure...I know what that is...had them before with pregnancies, but never this type of "reaction." Is that ALL this is, or is it something more?

It could one of a number of things - ranging from gastroenteritis to something more serious. I'd advise you to go and see a doctor as soon as you can.

I just heard (on tv) that if you have stomach cramping, vomitting, fever, sometimes bloody diarrhea, etc... to get to a doctor... it could be the salmonella from tomatoes that is currently around.

In any case, I would get to a doctor.

Stress can cause many GI symptoms, Hillary (following over from your other thread), but it does not cause bloody diarrhea. I would also hesitate to rule it a fissure when you're also having fatigue and stomach cramps. You need a doctor, my friend.

It may have been food poisoning or a bacteria or a virus perhaps. However, if your symptoms return and/or if you don't feel fully back to normal (still weak, tired, and such) in a couple-three days, I would double-check with a doctor (most particularly, I'm thinking, because of the blood symptom). I'm not a medical authority, but this is just what seems best to me. When in doubt, get it checked out. [;)]

You can have blood in your stools and not know it. That's occult blood.

I'd recommend seeing a doctor as well. You could still be bleeding and not know it.
