3cappuccinosmom -> Obama an enlightened spiritual being? (6/12/2008 3:04:38 PM)

Apparently some believe he is. A "light worker" whatever that means.

3cappuccinosmom -> RE: Obama an enlightened spiritual being? (6/12/2008 3:06:08 PM)

Oh, and note that "deeply spiritual" does not mean evangelical or "religious". Because clearly evangelicals, and especially those who don't want Obama for President can't possibly be deeply spiritual. [8D]

rcjames -> RE: Obama an enlightened spiritual being? (6/12/2008 3:07:27 PM)

Obama is a "Pied Piper" who plays a good tune, but will lead us into utter destruction.

Thanks
RC

I don't see how evangelicals can be deeply spiritual. They dismiss everything spiritual that is not found in their book as the "work of the devil".

What exactly is this book of the evangelicals?

I assumed that was obvious. The Bible.

I never siad that I had a problem with it. That is a topic for another thread. All I was saying is that evangelical christians really can't be spiritual because they consider views that contradict theirs to be the work of satan.

So then where do views that contradict the Bible come from?

The same place that those in the Bible came from. People.

The Bible may have been written down by men but they were inspired by God. And God does not contradict Himself.

That is were we disagree. I do not believe it was inspired were God. And it does contradict itself. If interested I'll email you some of the contradictions, but this is not the place for it.

Non-Christians have been trying to discount the Bible for many centuries so I am well aware of these so-called contradictions, which in actuality can be and have been easily explained. But, as you said, this is not the place for such a discussion. The Theology forum is a much more appropriate place for it, so I am letting it drop.

3cappuccinosmom -> RE: Obama an enlightened spiritual being? (6/13/2008 6:44:36 AM)

Yeah, can we get back to Obama being a highly evolved spiritual being?

Oh, maybe his image will appear in Bahai temples in a few decades, as another enlightened master. [8D]

All jesting aside, I can't believe people are actually putting this forward. Especially people who think themselves "too intelligent" to believe in Almighty God. I have been getting a feeling that people think of Obama as some sort of modern Messiah, and here it is, blatantly put. Scary. [&:]

May not even be that long.

Sideways -> RE: Obama an enlightened spiritual being? (6/13/2008 7:36:21 AM)

Well, I don't think that just because a person is intelligent means that they can't believe in God. My husband is an actual genius and he believes very much in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

But no, Obama is just a human being like all of us. He is not a demon, angel nor enlightened white light or whatever... He's just a man, loved by God, but flawed and sinful.

Is he an ordinary person? No. Nor would I want a presidential candidate to be. I'm not one of those folks who thinks that it is a good thing for the president to be "an ordinary guy". I want my president to be much more intelligent, much better educated, and much more charismatic then me. I want a president who is embarrassingly superior to me, not just embarrassing. (And by superior I don't mean superior in the eternal sense.)

Actually that is the big thing in some of the New Age mumbo jumbo that is being eschewed. Oprah's been pushing a book called "The Seat of the Soul" which is all about certain people becoming highly evolved spiritually. They are different than us regular humans.

Care to elaborate, or do you just like making snippy one liners? Do you like having a President who brags about getting C's in college and never goes deeper into an issue then the executive summaries that other people prepare for him? Sure, intellect isn't everything, but it is something.

I just love folks who snip "Well, he has education, but I've got common sense." As if the two were mutually exclusive.[8|]

For the record, I also happen to think that McCain is a strong, charismatic, leader, and definitely very, very intelligent. I'm looking forward to studying both men very carefully.

No. I just like making snippy one liners. The less words, the better.

P31W -> RE: Obama an enlightened spiritual being? (6/13/2008 8:41:43 AM)

Obama lacks wisdom. It's impossible for him to be some sort of light. He professes to believe in Black Liberation Theology.

God tells us in Proverbs 1

The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:
for attaining wisdom and discipline;
for understanding words of insight;
for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life,
doing what is right and just and fair;
for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young-- let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance--
for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.

7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline

You know that and I know that, but...

Also, don't forget...how does Satan present himself? What are some of the names ascribed to Satan?

ROFL!!! I have not seen anyone superior to me. Ever! Oh, except my parents. [;)]
