RHardin15 -> Next Five Artists/Albums I need... (6/17/2008 9:20:28 AM)

I'm a music freak. I love music. I generally like moderate rock music, rap, and pop-rock type music. What I need from you all is five Artists that I need to buy an album from next, and your favorite album would also be a good thing. Below is a list of all of the Christian artists I already have. When I ask for your five favorite I do not want the following: Cookie Cutter CCM ala Casting Crowns, and I'm not looking for P&W music for my laptop collection. I also do not want screamo music, I have a few of those type of bands in my collection, and I think what I have is enough. So... top 5, or whatever number you can think of! I will go check them out. Hopefully if you see someone on my list that you don't have you can check them out too!

First, you should get rid of KJ-whatever and John Rueben?

I'm kinda digging these guys: Thieves and Liars

And also these guys here:

The Wedding

Or maybe these dudes here

FM Static

RHardin15 -> RE: Next Five Artists/Albums I need... (6/17/2008 10:29:16 AM)

The Wedding is played a bunch on the radio, and I've been digging the few songs I've heard there... I've heard a little FM Static, so I'll go check out some more. The other I haven't heard of, so I'll check em out!

Thanks a bunch, nice list! [sm=thumbsup.gif]

PS: John Reuben is terrible, you're right. I have a CD by him because it was suggested a long time ago. It's possibly the worst CD I own. KJ-52 needs to break away from sounding so much like Emenim, because that just isn't original, but he flows pretty good.

RHardin15 -> RE: Next Five Artists/Albums I need... (6/17/2008 10:50:36 AM)

GREAT call on Thieves and Liars... I just finished listening to all the songs on PureVolume and man, they ROCK! There needs to be more bands that sound like THAT! I'm buying all they have.

You must have a rather good Christian Radio station there? I just have WAY-FM... egads. I pretty much have to log into various Chrstian radio websites to get anything good but I am at the office and the others here don't like it and I don't have speakers for my computer. *sigh* I get limited time at home to listen and my kids have taken control of my c.d. collections.

RHardin15 -> RE: Next Five Artists/Albums I need... (6/17/2008 11:40:01 AM)

www.hangarradioz.com

^^^^^ That's our local station. They play mostly pretty good stuff, in fact, they play most of the artists that I've purchased, that's how I heard of alot of them.

In addition to that, I was just checking the tracklist for ZRev, which is their late weekend night show, and they played Theives and Liars last week. I'm gonna call them and tell them that they should add them to the regular track list!

Not sure if you'd like it or not as I just recently came back to Christ (about 5 months ago) and I am still getting into all of the new music that is out there. But I really love Hillsong United. When hubby and I started going to the church we now attend we fell in LOVE with the music (we have a live band that sings Christian rock and Christian pop-rock). Anyhow we started looking up the songs they sing and realized that ALL of the ones we love are by Hillsong United. They're no Flyleaf (lol), but I really love them.

We do alot of Hillsong United at my Church too. Not really looking to add them to my list though. Thanks anyway!

No problem! I just love them so much that I always try to get others to check them out :). Good luck finding new music, your list really has me looking at new bands because I'm really loving the great Christian music that's out there these days! So much more for us young adult Christians to listen to than there was when I was a teenager lol

Sounds decent. Kind of like a cross between David Crowder and Starfield to me though. But this song "On the Brink of it All" is played on the radio here, and I never knew who it was, so thanks for telling me to check them out...

Now this band Secret & Whisper is GREAT! Thanks!

seagullplayer -> RE: Next Five Artists/Albums I need... (6/18/2008 10:11:02 AM)

Third Day, try and find a copy of Time.

The Wire CD is a little harder if you like.

My favorite's are Offerings both 1 and 2.

Of course David Crowder Band, I am suprised they are not on your list already.

Have you heard about his sleepwalking problem. In CCM mag I read about one time where he went to the refrigerator and then started throwing soda cans into the street because he thought they were going to explode. He was doing this in the front of his house while he was in his underwear! It made me ROTFLOL!![:D]

I don't like David Crowder Band... and I have three of the Third Day CD's, I just chose to remove them from my laptop list.

I don't get to read a copy of CCM very often, but I saw him and Mac Powel indian leg wrestle on stage last year in Louisville!

Wait a minute... hold up! Let me see if I can get this right. You like NASCAR, NASCAR is southern, Third Day is "southern rock", They are from Georgia... I don't think you have a choice, I think you have to like Third Day! Not an option... (LOL)

Just letting you know that if you just keep promoting your band in every post that the mods might find you in violation of TOS #13. You can check what that is by clicking on TOS in the box labeled "Forum Tools". Put your self promotion in your signature at the bottom of the page and it'll appear on every post. Just a suggestion!

I've checked out your music. I like your sound. It's kinda like early Motley Crue (Especially the vocalist. Is Vince Neill singing for your band? [;)])

Now the bad news. I found your songs also sounded stiff in their tempo and didn't have good flow. Like a musician reading from a music sheet for the 2nd time. The notes were there but the flow and feeling behind the music wasn't. On many songs I wanted to scream at the guitar player to speed it up a little more. Good thing I am not your producer! [;)]

Back to good news. I think that you guys have serious potential and would offer an alternative to all the nauseating scremo groups that have become a dime a dozen. Blessings and good luck. I will definitely keep tabs on your band because I expect great things in the future from you!
