ORIGINAL: broyce1981 Two part question here: So, would you consider yourself a morning person or a night owl? Do you think it would be a problem in a relationship to be with somebody who was the opposite? Yes, that could be a problem if you were a day person and your spouse was a night person. Reminds me of the song "Awake" that came out 12 years ago by the Boston turned national band Letters To Cleo. quote:
ORIGINAL: hotsaucygma Hmm, I'm a "middle of the day person". My Ex woke up "awake" each morning... not cheerful, but wide awake and ready for the day the minute his feet hit the floor. Me, well, not so much . I wander around in circles until I get at least 1 and a half cups of coffee down. I get up really early (5 am) but don't really wake up til around 6ish. The only real problem it caused us was that if he asked me to do something before 6... well, there might be a 50 - 50 chance at best that I would remember it . It was more of a problem that I liked going to bed earllier than he did. Not a super huge deal, but it would have worked better in both our opnions if we had been more on the same page with that... Yeah, I am probably more of a miday person as well.

I'm both - I LOVE being up in the middle of the night - either staying up into the wee hours of the morning, or waking up early (like at 4:30am) to be able to spend my quiet time with the Lord. Now, the actual process of waking up for me is difficult - much like what John wrote about M - that's me - but not 3 hours - I only need an hour. But still - don't talk to me or ask me to do anything in that first hour - because if you do - I can't guarantee the result. LOL I tend to stumble around for the first 30 minutes or so (and especially until the coffee kicks in).

I've always been more of a night person, but that's changed somewhat in the past five years or so. I get sleepy earlier than I used to and can actually hold a conversation in the morning now after only being awake for a short while--even without a cup of coffee! No one would call me chipper, though, and I can still be little grumpy. Despite my natural tendency to need an alarm clock to wake up, there's little more beautiful in life than a sunrise. Makes it worth getting up early.

I'm a mid morning person. I don't talk much in the morning and without having coffee, I'm pretty useless. But around 11ish, I start waking up and I'm good until about 10. Past that, I'm dead to the world.

I am a night owl who unfortunately has a day job and must be up at the crack of dawn! I have tried numerous times to talk my boss into letting me work nights instead of days, but he just laughs! When I am on vacation I end up staying up until the time I would be normally getting up for work... what a mess that is to straighten out when I have to go back to work!

Left to my own devices, I'm a night owl. But life has forced me to appreciate mornings, too. Since I fell in love with running, I gave up morning sleep for that. I think I could love a man just as much, if need be!

I'm kind of a 'middle of the road' kind of person. I don't usually like to stay up really late, nor do I usually like to get up really early. My body's natural sleep pattern is something like 8.5 to 9 hrs of sleep. But, my schedules usually don't allow for more than 8 hrs of sleep. And often, I sometimes have to live with 6 to 7. My body really hates that. Sharon, on the other hand, usually prefers to be up late and then wake up late. We adjust as we need to. RC

I am a morning person! I am the one everyone hates - you know - it is 5 a.m. and I'm up, cheery, singing a little tune, getting ready for breakfast. But I wind down around 10 p.m. I think it would be difficult to be married to someone who was an extreme night owl because of the limited amount of time that we could be together. But on the other hand, as a person who needs a bit of space sometimes, this could work out - I could have my alone time in early morning and then be ready to connect as the day progresses.

More of a night owl although I have to get up too early with kids. I'm not actually functional until about 11am. The x was a morning person, hit the ground running bright and early every day. But it was never a problem between us. He liked us to go to bed at the same time (too early) but I just read in bed til I was sleepy.

I'm jealous of those people who waken and immediately hit the ground running... *sigh*
