Oh Wise Counselor Kerrlaw,

DID YOU KNOW that finding a water fountain that produces a quality water sound while at the same time being generally affordable is a difficult task?

Went to store, bought one that was affordable, brought it home, put it together...put lots of water in...NO WATER SOUND.

Went to different store, found one that is NOT affordable but makes LOTS of water sound...put in memory to beg Mr. Cranky for when he returns from fishing trip.

Went to different store, bought one that was affordable, brought it home, put it together...put lots of water in...pretty good water sound, but still dreaming about the NOT affordable one.

Girl and I have been busy today.

I had to back up to say, Cranky, I share your pain. I have found this to be absolutely true. Affordable=no water sound and water sound=too 'spensive. I've looked and looked.

I have a small battery powered device that my mother got as a premium for keeping track of her purchases for a survey company. It makes a bubbling brook sound as well as a rain storm sound. It is nothing to look at but it does make the sound.

Let's see what I missed:

Kerr is clueless.
Cranky is weeping.
Sam is sweeping.

Thank you for your concern and for troubling to even come up with any kind of solution, Master Kerr. It means a lot to me and I know Cranky will be brought to tears by your thoughtfulness.

His sincerity and genuine compassion have moved me to uncontrollable weeping.

I just knew you'd be touched so deeply that the only appropriate expression would be tears.

Here's the real funny thing, Mr. Kerrlaw. I had called Mr. Cranky to tell him my situation, and he told me to keep the pretty but inexpensive fountain and use a recording for the water sound.

It is SUCH A GOOD thing that you two don't know each other.

I'm glad Mr. Cranky doesn't know you either--he'd probably try to buy it from you.

All you have to do is the work.

Besides the two sounds I mentioned it also has the sound of waves on the shore and the sound of a night sky in the country and it includes a sleep timer.

Does that make it more attractive?

Time for bed.

The City Council meeting lasted very late, so I didn't eat until 10:00. Everyone else ate earlier.

Now I'm full of potato chip chicken, garlic potatoes, broccoli, and my mother's indescribably delicious banana pudding.

It's called a Noise Machine & is sold by Radio Shack here in Roanoke. A friend of mine has one going every night to sleep by. I'd never sleep with all of that noise going as it would keep me awake.

It would probably keep me awake, too. But I would love to listen to waves crashing 24/7.

Good morning, Master Kerr et al!

See? I even put a little (very little) legalese in.

That's all I know, though.

I used to live by a major highway, and the noise was awful. I got a cd of a thunderstorm, and put it on continual play. It was wonderful!

I dreamed of Mack Trucks surfing.

I have a sound machine and it was one of my favorite possessions when I lived in apartments.

I have one also. I don't use it anymore but it had several sounds on it. Ocean waves, rain, thunder storms night sounds from insects, the last one I used was when the DUtchess of Millbrook was a puppy it was the sound of a heart beat. I wrapped it up and put it in the crate with her. Seemed to give her some comfort.

Just dropping into tell you, in case you don't know, that it is tiring trying to keep up with two boys, ages 8 and 6.

Yesterday we did DollyWorld- all day. They were constantly in motion from 9:00 a.m. to we arrived home at about 9:30 p.m.. Still being hyped up and awake, they played with the Wii until 11:30.

Unfortunately, I had a trial scheduled today and did not go to Splash Country. , but Mrs. K tells me that all are having a good time.

I will have to have a nap just to get rested enough to go to bed tonight.

I hope today is a great day with the kiddos!
