Willifs....Whatever we do, do it as unto the Lord, even if it is a job we dislike. When we consider it a privilage to work, and believe that employment is a blessing from God, then we may view any job as an opportunity to serve the Lord as we serve others in our work place. No where in God's word does it tell us that we are to have "fun" at our jobs. If we thought of our jobs as a ministry each day, maybe we would work at being the best we can for God's glory, not just to fuel our paychecks. I'm reminded that my husband employed people to labor in contruction. He hired them because they proclaimed to be hard workers, that would show up on time and be willing to learn and work hard at any assignment given them. And those who were found idle (or lazy) were let go. One worker stood out. He knew the Lord Jesus. He would praise the Lord through his work day. He never complained, even though he had problems at home. He would ask my husband what he would have him do, no job was too hard (even if it was) and he would do it. He was older than most of his other employees, but content. I know the Lord wants us to be content in all things. And this man was. I can't imagine hard labor to be fun, year after year, but he was content with it. Before, he worked for us, he was a missionary in Africa and had many stories of hardship and blessings. Maybe God used that time to make him appreciate what the Lord has blessed him with, including his employment. I'm truly sorry for your depression, I've been there, too. I pray the Lord will be your stronghold through your time of uncertainty in the choice of careers. I pray the Lord will make it obvious to you, which job selection he has in mind for you. Also, I pray he will help you out of the pit of fear, and uncertainty and doubt...and that you will find freedom from the shadow of despair each and every day. In Jesus name.
