Steve Eaton started a thread on this year's male quartets with this idea: quote:
Now that the final five ballot is out, instead of doing the same ole' poll question, let's do something a little different. Rank this year's top five quartet nominees from 1 to 5. The quartet you rank 1 will get 5 points, 2 will get 4 points, 3 will get 3 points, 4 will get 2 points and 5 will get 1 point. In about a month I'll tally the points and we will determine a winner. I'll start. Let's do the same thing with mixed quartets. :) 1. Perrys (5) 2. Collingsworth Family (4) 3. Hoppers (3) 4. McKameys (2) 5. Isaacs (1)

I would have to say that the Isaacs would have to be my top pick. They put out quality material. You alwayus get somwthing different. I am not a big fan of any of the other ones because project after project sound the same. Sorry if it sounds like I am in a bad mood today on all of my posts. I NEED my morning Coffee!!!!lol

1. Perrys (5) 2. Collingsworths (2.5) 3. Hoppers (2.5) 4. Isaacs (2.5) 5. Lesters (2.5) Boy it's hard to pick other than personal preferences. I do agree that some of these groups (as with all groups) seem to repeat themselves with each project. Of course if its working why take a chance and change.

1. Perrys (5) 2. Hoppers (4) 3. Collingsworth Family (3) 4. McKameys (2) 5. Isaacs (1) This list was easier than the quartets list. The Perrys are a very easy choice for number 1 with me. The others were pretty easy to rank as well. I still like the Isaacs, but I really miss Joe Isaacs and Tim Surrett(they were real bluegrass then).

Perrys (5) Hoppers (4) McKameys (3) Isaacs (2) Collingsworth Family (1) I ranked the Collingsworth Family last out of the five bases solely on the fact that I've never heard anything from them.

Isaacs, Hoppers, and Crist Family are my three faves. and I say is a sad thing when that very talented family wasn't in top 5.

1. Isaacs 5 points 2. Perrys 2 points tie with everyone else 1 point each. Sorry but the Isaacs are the only mixed group of the five that I really like.

1./2. (tie) Hoppers and Perrys 3. Isaacs 4. McKameys 5. Collingsworth Family (to be fair, I'll admit that I've heard little or nothing from them, so I can't rate them fairly. But I know from pianorama that Kim is a great pianist.)

Just in case any questions arise, let me tell you how points were tallied. Anyone ranking all five aritsts were counted as such. To not leave anyone out I also counted individuals who may have only listed several artists. There was one who only listed the Isaacs and no one else. In that case I gave the Isaacs (5) points. There was another instance where an individual only listed the Isaccs and the Hoppers. In that case I gave the Isaacs (5) points and the Hoppers (4). In the instance where the Perrys and Hoppers were listed as a tie, I gave the Perrys and Hoppers each (4.5 points). I hope that is fair.
