I think we are talking about different breeds of the same animal.

I was going to edit my last post to add this but may as well just post it here. The confident person never needs to embellish to get anywhere where the arrogant person embellishes everything.

BTW I had a relative that did similar things as your step-dad does, I never thought of that person as arrogant just discouraging as they didn't do in front of others.

like talking about myself too much
It is pretty hard not to talk about yourself in threads.......mostly everything we post is based on our own experiences since none of us really have joint experiences.....nor do most of us know or talk to each other off here.

It is funny.......you all probably know about my life and what I think about certain topics then people in my real life LOL.........In real life you experience life together therefore there is no need to talk about it.

A man or woman with confidence does not have to make someone else feel inferior if they disagree with them. They do not have to tell people they are wrong.

In fact, with a little thought the confident person can teach the other without the other feeling inferior at all. We are too think of others as better than ourselves regardless of whether we know more than them or not. It keeps us in the proper mindset

I have found in my experience, those who are confident in what they believe, are not afraid of being asked question nor are they afraid of listening to someone else's opinion.

The self-confident will listen with the willingness to learn from others. Those who are arrogant will listen only so they can tell you why they are right and you are wrong.

I, personally, think these 2 quotes are the center of the matter. A person with self-confidence will listen and be willing to learn. That kind of person is the kind I would rather date/marry. Those who have to be "right" and think they know more and do not have to listen and possibly learn, that is the kind of person I would not date/marry (again ).

Hmm, now I'll go back and continue reading the rest of the posts...

I like confidence, but not arrogance. Arrogant people are ot humble in any way, and they tend to be prideful as well.
