MattPaasch -> Patriotic SG (playlist for iPod) (6/22/2008 12:57:45 AM)

I'm trying to put together a playlist on my iPod of Patriotic SG songs for the following weekend!!

I can use as much help as I can get.

I have some of the Cathedrals, Gold City (I Love This Land is great!!!!), Gather Vocal Band, and others... I just want to get a good list going!

SoloSGArtist -> RE: Patriotic SG (playlist for iPod) (6/22/2008 10:21:16 AM)

We Are America - The Hoppers
I Pledge My Allegiance - Ernie and Sig Sound or GVB
Statue of Liberty - Numerous... or Ivan Parker
Truth Is Marching On - Legacy Five, Talley Trio, & Gold City
Anything From Gaither Videos "God Bless America and Let Freedom Ring"

RogerBennett_Fan -> RE: Patriotic SG (playlist for iPod) (6/22/2008 5:20:35 PM)

Land of the Free by the Carolina Boys is a good patriotic song. It is off their CD titled "Ready" - I think it is available on Amazon.com.

dbmurray -> RE: Patriotic SG (playlist for iPod) (6/23/2008 12:46:25 AM)

Colors by the Oak Ridge Boys is in the -Must Have- category for anyone who likes the sound of a male quartet singing patriotic music.

"Let Freedom Ring" by The Kingdom Heirs is also a great song. It's from their Forever Gold project. Steve Lacey is awesome on this song.

"Blood Bought My Freedom" by The Primitive Quartet is another one. It's on their 20th Anniversary project. This is one of the few times that they've used drums in their music.

"God Bless America" by Vestal Goodman from her Lifetime of Favorites compilation.

"God Bless The USA" by Lee Greenwood, The Nelons, or The Kingdom Heirs. What's July 4th without this song?

"Pray For America" by Tara Jackson is amazing. It's on her debut, self-titled project.

"America Medley" from the GVB/EHSS Together project.

"America The Beautiful" by Three Bridges from their Believe album.

"Proud Of The American Flag" by The Isaacs from their Labor Of Love project.

"I Still Believe In America" by Brian Free & Assurance on their So Close To Home project.

pauljackson -> RE: Patriotic SG (playlist for iPod) (6/26/2008 12:21:52 PM)

We have a pretty good "new" patriotic song on our new Cd.
It's entitled, BECAUSE THEY GAVE.

It's a tribute to all serving soldiers and veterans.
God bless 'em!

I can link you with some work of loading them some links to songs by an up and coming country star whom i was in iraq with in OIF I. he is named Luke Stricklin. he recorded an acoustic set there and got a recording deal out of it. I was one of the lucky ones to get a copy of the homemade acoustic set. songs like: I Am A Patriot(And I Don't Mind Dying); 7000 Miles Away; I'll Hang With You; American By God's Amazing Grace; All I Really Miss Is You; I Tend To Disagree; We Hate Terrorists; Those Were The Good Ole Days; Things Are Tough Around Here.

some of them are country in sound and lyrics, but I know where he came from. (((good ole Arkansas National Guardsmen))). I Am A Patriot was played every time we lost someone last tour. ((was played a lot))) and it still gives me chills and I usually wind up crying

There's an original titled "That's My Boy" that has some very meaningful lyrics. I downloaded the mp3 file from the myspace store for .99 cents @ myspace.com/spoken4qt Definitely patriotic with an excellent message!

If you can download video, this will give you a feel for the integrity and conviction in which it is sung ..... let me know what you think.

Even though the writer addresses the male gender ~ the lyrics certainly apply to all our men and women who serve in the Armed Forces, past and present, which allow us to enjoy the freedom we celebrate this 4th of July!

Yeah - they're in for a real treat - what a great TRIBUTE to our troops! Jon Charles does an EXCELLENT job! That last verse really sums it up for the Christian, doesn't it?!!!!

Thanks for sharing! [:)]

Great thread here...Matt!
