As inspired by another poster:

Imagine this:
You have planned to have a hot date (because all dates should be hot!). You're given enough money to buy ten things from the dollar store (so $10 plus tax...), and that is the only thing you can buy for such date.

What do you buy? What do you plan to do with what you buy??

Okay, I'll go first.

First: Dining. I shall grab a bag of cookies, and a bag of chips. Plus 2 drinks (hopefully they'll have Dr Pepper in stock!).

That's four items.

Then I'll buy 2 water guns for entertainment. I'll also peruse the toy aisle and decide upon two other toys that we can play with. Perhaps those rubber band nerf type shooters.

That's eight.

Item nine will be a cute gift bag to carry everything so as to not spoil the surprise.

And for item ten a candy bar to share the end to a sweet night.

(Surely ppl can get more creative than this?)

  • crayons
  • balloons
  • a drink (dr. pepper maybe?)
  • bag of army men (green or tan doesnt matter)
  • little ball (from a game like jacks or marbles)
  • greeting card
  • silk/paper flower
  • water guns (pack of 2)
  • cheese product
  • little debbie snack cake

i will start things off by presenting my HOT date with a flower followed by a greeting card with original crayon drawings. i'm nervous with the flower idea but it'd make a good memento of our first date if we're married. since this is a HOT date, i think it'd be fun to cool down with a water gun fight. the balloons could turn into a disaster so i will play that by ear. at this point, i'll wish i bought a towel to dry off. after i macguverly crafted the cheese and cake into cheesecake, we will have a snack and drink our dr pepper (didnt have money for two straws). then we can play army man bowling or even jacks (or marbles as intended).

Hmmmm what a fun thread.......

Lets see

I would buy sand toys so we could go to the beach. I would make sure to get a variety so we could make a really cool sand castle.........

I would buy sun tan lotion. I want my date hot but not burnt. How horrible if he was too burnt to cuddle with as we watched the firework show at night....

Of course we would need something to sit on at the beach so I would buy a table cloth or if they happened to have towels.......but since I can't remember seeing towels at the dollar store we will have to manage with table clothes.

To quench our thirst I would buy ICB rootbeer in a glass bottle so we could put it in the water to stay cold......besides how romantic to share a bottle of rootbeer........

Food.....hmmm yes we will need something to eat........I would buy a box of crackers and some tuna fish.......

What am I up to now? Let see......I have two dollars left.

Oh that is easy.....I would buy one of those lite up things you wear so he could see me in the dark and some fluorescent lipstick.........

Yeap that about sums up all I would need for a really hot date at the beach.........

Let's see,

I think first I'd buy two of those Dinty Moore microwave meals. You know the ones - they're vacuum packed instead of being frozen, so you could eat them without heating if needed. A box of plastic flatware would be next.
Then I'd buy a couple of Cokes out of the cooler that stands at the counter and a box of Little Debbie cakes.
I'd also get a disposable paper table cloth to cover those horrible picnic tables at the park (They don't bother me, but I'm assuming any lady I'm with will be more refined than I am.)
After dinner, we'd take a walk down by the lake and watch kids wading in the water catching crawdads.

Oooooh...this is fun except for items in our dollar store cost way more than a dollar....it's almost Walmart pricing.

But if they were a dollar each...I'd but a Frisbee, two bottled water/ice tea, a bag of chips, a bag of cookies for desert, sunblock lotion, a Nerf football, a sandcastle set, and more chips if there's money left! I'll take my date to the beach and play all day long.

Now, for another date, I'd buy 5 granola bars, and 5 Gatorade and go hiking.

Hmm.... I'm getting some great ideas here. Don't know how much more creative I can be, but here goes.

I'd start by going to the park early and reserving one of their two-seater swings on the 4th of July then go to the dollar store and pick up the following:

* Two drinks and two crazy straws - fun way to enjoy a drink, right?
* One of those mister-fans... he's a hot date, right?
* A couple of toy guns... either water guns or those little nerf things... so we can shoot the whippersnappers who run by or who get out of line (for some reason, I'm feeling a little old today. )
* Some bread (maybe hamburger buns)

With the two dollars left over, we'll go to one of the stands and buy some sparklers.

Now that we're all set, we'll enjoy the park for a little while, taking turns spinning each other on the merry-go-round or seeing who can go the highest on the swings... and maybe we'll hide behind the trees and soaking poor unsuspecting kids. Then we'll walk around the lake enjoying our drinks and feeding the ducks with the bread. Since it's 4th of July, we'll play with the sparklers as it gets dark, then cuddle on the swing and watch the fireworks.

We'd arrive at set location, and upon finding a place to relax, set our plastic tablecloth. We'd sit down on it, relaxing while enjoying our Soda (3 x 1 here- no diet for him ) & Cheetos. After eating, we'd draw pictures of each other with our Crayons & Paper Pad, possibly followed by 'my favorite things' pictionary... then to get some exercise, he'd chase the bubbles that I was blowing (GTers saw this coming ). Since he was in the grass anyway, he'd use a lighter and set off our colored smoke bombs in a ring around us (pretty, and mosquito repellant). He'd then come back. and we'd light our candle and he'd impress me with his mental prowess solving the Marble Maze Puzzles by candlelight as we waited for the fireworks to begin.

GREAT thread idea BTW

This is a fun thread!

We would buy two pair of swimming goggles and some sunblock. After playing in the water (beach, pool, whatever's available), we would rehydrate with some water (one 6pk bottled water). Then we would don our pirate gear and toys (two sets of three packages) and speak pirate for the rest of the day as we wandered around the beach, swimming pool area (wherever we are) entertaining bystanders and other fellow water enthusiasts.

Let's see, a $1.00 for hot chocolate, a $1.00 for popcorn, a $1.00 for a game to play, $1.00 for a roll of wrapping paper, $1.00 for the ribbon, and the other $5.00 to buy 5 toys. After we finish playing the game, we wrap the toys and give them to toys for tots or another charity.

WOW prairiehiker......you don't have a "Everything's a dollar store"?

We have dollar general, which is like walmart pricing, but that is different then the dollar store.

I thought of another fun date.........

1 pairs of scissors

1 glue

1 tablets of multi colored paper

1 bottles of glitter

1 package of multi colored, multi sheets of tissue paper

1 package of small brown paper bags

2 boxes of cookies

1 two liter of soda

1 package of paper cups.

He and I would go to the beach, set up a picnic table, and makes designer bags with the children so they would have somewhere cool to put the things they found on the beach while beach combing.......

After all the bags were done, the area cleaned up, we would join the children on the beach...oohing and aahing over everything they found.

What a fun day that would be.........

Hmm ... I need to consult my son's "50 Science Fair Experiments" book and get back. Our dollar store has a really cool aisle with all kinds of stuff that could be used for a science fair project.

I really like this idea Joy....

Fun thread FB!!!!

Here's mine. Two sodas and a walk in one of my favorite walking parks. If he is that hot, I am going to want to go out with him again, so I am saving my other 8.00 for 3 more dates. Hopefully on date 5 he's buying, and we can do something on his budget....

this is such a fun topic. I just wish I know a man I can do this with. Most men thinks this is sorta corny. I remember going out on a blind date and I brought a Kinder egg and we built the "surprise" together. He thought was sweet.

I like silly things like this. I think my funnest date was with a guy who took me by the river in the middle of the night and we skipped rocks for a few hours. That was priceless.

Jim and I just hang at his house - talking for hours and watching sports -where I impress him with the odd things that I know. The best thing we do, though, is go to church together. Nothing beats that!

so you'd donate that $10 + tax to church instead of spending it on a date? or maybe put it toward his cable/satellite bill?

I have another dollar store date idea.

From the dollar store.

2 flashlights
1 packages of extra batteries
bug spray
2 waters
1 bag of graham crackers.
1 lighter
1 bag of marshmallows
1 chocolate candy bar

Drive to Lake Michigan an hour before sunset.

Climb trail to high sand dune over looking lake.

dig a hole in the sand for a fire pit, collect down twigs, and make a fairly large pile.

Dig out a viewing hole beside the fire, make sure the slant of the back is just right so you can see the full expanse of the sky.

Enjoy the sunset.

When it is almost dark but before the stars are their brightest start a small fire in the fire pit.

Make smores

Then relax by the fire, laying in the sand, watching the stars dance through the night.

Make sure to use the flashlight to connect the star dots to point out all the cool things you can see in the sky.......

Ask him to sing to you......

Now depending on how well you know this hot date..........and how serious you are........a kiss may be allowed for each falling star seen.....

girls watch out for the men on this one........he will probably claim he sees all these falling stars you don't see......be on guard
