We take our kids every year, all at the same time. Well, that will be changing, since two of my kids will be going to a different doctor when the new baby is born. So it'll be two separate times, I guess.

BUT...we don't pay for well-child appointments. If we were, I'm sure I'd skip at least every other year. Or find a doctor who took our insurance, if that was the issue.

If he had all the "school" booster shots at 4, he shouldn't even need more at 6. Mine that are that old have been done until 10 or 11 yo boosters.

I guess I'm in the minority in that I really consider my pediatrician, along with the kids' teachers, to be on the same "team". My kids are rarely sick - seems like we can go forever never needing to go in and then we'll be there 5 times in a few weeks, it's weird. But I like the yearly visit just to touch base, especially if I haven't had to see her for a while. I like checking in with her and I like letting the kids see her when they're not sick or miserable. I think it makes them more comfortable with her when they do need to go in. And I like to keep her and the info in her files up to date. If/when some emergency comes up, I don't want to be running to a virtual stranger and I don't want to have to waste time catching her up on anything that's happened or changed since we last saw her.

Well, we are at the doctor frequently anyway for allergy appointments and they usually seem to fall between well-baby checkups. That is mainly why we skip them... Since her allergies tie into her development/eating/ and vaccinations there isn't really any point in making a separate well baby appointment.
