I'm already to go pick up DD tomorrow. My sis is giving me a bad time telling me that arriving at the airport now for a plane that dd hasn't even boarded yet isn't going to get her home any sooner! LOL!

My niece is excited too. J-10 has lived in the Bay Area all of her life and never been on a BART train or to SFO. I told her that she could go with me.

I haven't been on BART for about 20 years.

Could you strip the table and refinish it? My friend used to do that all of the time with her wood things because she would buy old tables and side tables at yard sales and do that.

Ok, so I exchanged my blender and now my blower for my air conditioning in the house is freezing up and not working. We do have a home warranty, but the air conditioner is connected to an old furnace that is used only as a blower as the heat we have is from a boiler.

I don't think the warranty is going to cover this though because the furnace being used for a blower seems to be about 35 years old. But there was no indication of the age of it when we had our inspection so now I think we have another unbudgeted expense. Uggggg

We put 2k worth of electrical work in to make some of the older wiring safe and still have alot more to go there too. DH gets a yearly bonus in November and we were going to use that for new windows, but I am thinking we are going to have to use it for other things now.

AND we don't use credit or have any open to us so it is either apply for a home equity which I really don't want to do, or tough it out.

My kids are being super sassy today and I still need to go to the grocery store. But I am NOT taking them until they can be a bit nicer. We played outside already and got the house straightened and the two older ones are bickering so I separated them. My little one is having a fit because I won't let her have a piece of candy.

I love summer, but I need a break from it.

Yes, we could strip and refinish the table. I just know it would be a lot of work. Hubby is into woodworking a bit so he might have an opinion on whether it was worth it for whatever kind of wood it is.

I just sent all my kids to their rooms for a quiet time. I'm badly in need. I'm tired, but probably shouldn't lay down. I'm afraid I'd sleep too long. We'll see.

Later...

At the orthodontist we learned that my 13yo (K) may need jaw surgery to get her teeth where they should be because she is no longer growing. If she was younger they could do a different treatment. So I feel bad about that. And if she needs it it's not just an outpatient procedure; she'd spend 2-3 days in the hospital and would need 2 weeks off of school. If she needs surgery on 2 jaws they would do it about 1.5 hours from here; just one jaw they could do 30 miles from here. I think she is taking it all better than I am.

K's friend who is moving is coming to spend the night. Then her brother is coming tomorrow afternoon.

E is at work right now. She's going back to camp on Thursday. She decided that on the way home from the appts today. I'm good with that; I felt like she didn't leave camp on a very happy note. She has a ride back there, and hopefully will get a ride home at the end of next week. It's 1.5 hours so I'm glad to not have to have the gas expense.

The air conditioner may just be low on coolant. This could freeze up the system. The blower is independent of the actual system...it is probably just a victim of the refrigerant (or other condenser) problem. When coolant is low, ice will form. Now, if it is a new airconditioner and doesn't fit the size of the blower, you could also have a freezing problem.

Could you get a 2nd opinion? My ds had teeth pulled rather than having jaw surgery.

Well her life hasn't been that long, really. I loved using BART. I used to go from Fremont to Lake Marrett everyday. Gosh that's been close to 20 years for me too, maybe a little less.. BART goes a lot further than it did back then.

I hope all goes well for you tomorrow Roberta.

Julia, good idea. I'll ask about the tooth pulling thing. I think the surgery is to shift the jaw more forward, so I'm not sure if that would help.

Oh my gosh!!!! Everybody has so much going on. Sick kids, jaw surgery, kids coming home, and sassy monsters. Mine fall under the category of sassy monsters today. I got my new bed. It is a sleep number and they told me it should only take 15 minutes to put together and pumping it is going to take the longest. WRONG!!!! Try 2 hours of trying to get everything to fit and stay in place. It was the pump that only took 10 minutes. But for the first time EVER, my husband and I get to have some space in my bed. I think that when we get old, we are going to be one of those couples who have separate beds.

Anyway, Kay finally went to bed and Jake and Kali are actually playing a board game together. I was invited to play, but I needed a mental break soooo bad. DH decided to play with them and that lasted about 15 minutes before he gave up.

Oh, and I am pretty sure I broke my toe today.

Well now I don't think we'll be leaving until late tomorrow afternoon or Thursday morning - if at all. We are taking the car into a mechanic tomorrow. Brian thinks the alternator is going on the van. On the way home from the zoo this afternoon, the battery light came on and didn't go off. I had a couple of more stops to make after that and thankfully the car started right up both times, then we were about 2 miles from home and the anti-lock brake light and the traction control service light came on AND the then the clock got really dim. I said a quick prayer, asking God to help me make it home and God was merciful! So hopefully it will be a quick fix and we'll still be able to go. I told Brian that maybe God is just trying to tell us that we just NEED to stay home!

I still haven't gotten a call from the school district regarding the aide position, so I'm going to make a phone call to our school's principal tomorrow.

Blessings,

Garsy

You were right. It was a bit low on freon and we had a wind shift which made the colder air come off of the lake and apparently when you have a temp change like that, it can mess with your air conditioner. But it is all fixed and I feel better. Oh and I have my new blender so I can use it tomorrow for breakfast.

Kylie, sorry about your daughter. I hope everything is ok soon.

Kathy, glad you haven't had any pain. I was just going to ask about you but I went back and found that I somehow missed a bunch of posts. I don't know how, I have been living in here lately, or so it seems.

It seems as if it is hectic in one way or another for everyone. I do pray for you all though. Everybody by name at least once a week. This is just a good bunch of people and I am glad I found you all.

I'm glad it wasn't something more serious on the AC Tracy. Thanks for the prayers!

Kim, we had a friend in college from Fremont. Nice guy.

I hope the van is an easy fix Garsy.

K has a friend over today; she spent the night. It's her friend who is moving soon. Her younger brother is coming for the afternoon.

Kylie,

Ok I know we are on different time zones so did you get to the spec. yet? Both of my girls have had problems very similiar to what you described. Hopefully it is just asthma because while that is not good to have, they can outgrow it and it is easily treated.

For some reason, asthma can show symptoms only at night. It has something to do with steroids that are either over or underproduced in the body. Weather also can affect it. Extremely cold and dry air gets my older daughter. Humid air gets me. So it depends on the person. They also have more symptoms after they have been sick with a cold or anything respritory. So I hope that if anything is wrong, that is the worst.

Well it's not an easy fix on the van but at least it'll be fixed. The alternator triggered a malfunction with the electrical system and fried some wiring. It's going to cost us around $380 to fix. They can't finish it til later today. We BARELY made it the ten miles to the garage!

I know the kids still want to do some sort of camping thing soon so maybe this weekend I'll put up the tents and get all the fixings for a good old fashioned camp-out in the back yard. Brian is going to take all of today off but is going to call in and cancel his vacation for the rest of the week and save the days for things this fall.

Ethan has allergy/illness induced asthma and his symptoms are ALWAYS worse at night, especially when it's humid. They are harvesting the wheat and mowing hay around here lately and it's REALLY getting on Ethan's nerves! He HATES having to use his inhaler and on days like today he knows his meds may not cut it. He's staying inside as much as possible!

Blessings,

Garsy

Garcy, that is a good price for them to fix a car today. Once you get into the wiring, you get into the computer and you can end up spending alot more. Although I don't have that in my budget so it is hard.

That is so cool that you are going to do a backyard campout. I don't know about you, but we have places here that are like 20.00 a night if you are pitching a tent. Usually state parks though.

My car is only two years old and already has had over 1000 of my own money put into it and that doesn't count all of the warranty work done. Unfortunately it doesn't fall under the lemon law because you have to be in I think your first year of ownership. I think that is wrong though. If they warranty most things for 36k miles, then that is what the lemon law should be. That is my opinion at least.

So far today I have the house to myself and SHOULD be cleaning it, but have not yet done that. I did water the lawn though. I tried to use the sprinkler, but couldn't get it to rotate through the entire yard so I just stood out there and soaked it.

Anyway, it is not hot here like it was supposed to be and I have put off staining my deck because the kept saying rain and that hasn't happened. I know that now that there is no rain in the forcast, if I go out and do it, it will rain. I just want to have my deck ready to use.

I was pleasantly surprised when we got the call at noon that the van was ready for us to pick up!! Grand total after the battery charging and a serpentine belt AND a new alternator and wiring - $393. We actually got off pretty cheaply all things considered!

There are state parks and whatnot that we could go to but our backyard is much more convenient and I don't have to use some gross campground bathroom!

We haven't had our car 2 years yet and we've already put nearly $1500 into the thing! Of course it was a used car when we bought it, so I was kinda expecting some issues. I just wasn't expecting the first problem to happen just a month after purchasing it!

I turned the sprinkler on my garden last night and promptly forgot I had done so. It was on out there for nearly 3 hours, maybe more!

I also got to the bottom of Aryn's recent tummy aches every night. Aryn is my VERY ultra sensitive child. She'll get a stomach ache simply because she's thinking too much about something. Well the last few nights she's been complaining about a stomach ache EVERY night. So last night at midnight she and I sat up talking and I think it MOSTLY about back to school nerves, coupled with the fact that she is finding it really difficult to go to sleep when she knows that there is no one else in the house that is awake. But if she can hear someone else making noise or knows someone else is awake she can usually go to bed with no problems. She also told me about a time when she was at lunch at school and she had to sit alone. I'm hoping that will change this year and that she'll have at least a couple friends in her class. Last year was tough especially at the beginning of the year when she really had no friends in the same class. Hopefully that will not be a problem this year. She did slowly make friends but that is tough work and Aryn is really choosy about who she chooses to associate with. She has also lost a couple friends this past year - all to out of school district and in one case out of state, moves. So we had a LONG conversation about how growing up is hard sometimes but she did have some friends and that sometimes girls can simply be meaner then boys. I encouraged her to be herself and that she shouldn't have to change who she is for anyone. I also made if VERY clear that she could ALWAYS come to me with absolutely any problem and that I would help however I could. She also tends to think a lot at bedtime and has trouble turning off her mind. So we are going to start keeping a journal by her bedside and she is going to simply write out her thoughts if she is having trouble shutting of the old brain at night. Then she's going to place her hand on it and give it all to God, because she really needs her sleep if she's going to be able to tackle the next day! She liked the idea so I hope it helps.

Blessings,

Garsy

Bless her heart! That really touched me.

to all the car troubles.

Mike has asthma too. Usually just in the winter but lately he has had to use his inhaler when works outside with his dad.

Kylie I sure hope they can get to the bottom of X's medical issues quickly. The appointment is over by now, what did you find out?

Dee, I hope they can find an alternative solution for K.

Hi Julia! Hey Kim! :)

Glad your daughter made it home safe and sound Roberta.

I do that with my bible sometimes and I wish I could explain the feeling in my body. I know she is a child, but I totally understand not being able to shut that brain off at night. I still have that problem. It is anxiety for me and very tough to live with.

We found out pretty much nothing. The specialist thinks it's residual symptoms from a really bad cold X had a couple of weeks ago. Basically his treatment is - as long as she keeps getting better and doesn't have another attack she seems fine. Her chest is clear and the Xrays showed nothing serious.

I'm the same way Tracy. At least Aryn comes by it honestly.

Well it's happened again.

It seems to us anyway that EVERY church we consider becoming members of decide to up and throw a building campaign into the mix. EVERY church we've EVER attended in our 17 years together has done this. I don't know - maybe it's God's way of telling us to trust him more - but it's gotten to a point where hubby is done with buildings and having to always get new ones or build bigger ones or whatever. From his perspective - he's wondering why a church can't simply be content with what God has provided for a few years WITHOUT asking for building funds when they can hardly manage to pay for the upkeep of the current spaces. Right now our current church is meeting in a movie theatre and while it's great that they found a space of their own (to the tune of 2 MILLION if not more now) Brian is wondering if we are running the risk of losing some of our attendees that came simply because it was more convenient, or losing that draw that brought many in simply because a church in a movie theatre is a novelty, a way to pull them in. Anyway - enough of that. Brian's also frustrated because it seems that we are expected to drive every week into services 20 miles into town, but this committee the church has set up to promote this building project can't take the time to come out and visit us even tho it was stated in a letter we received recently that EVERY regular attendee, anyone on the mailing list, was to be visited in person regarding this campaign. We have never even been contacted regarding anyone coming out to our home - nor have some neighbors of ours that started attending shortly after us. They could have hit two with one visit, maybe more - but it never happened.

Anyway- enough ranting.

It's 6:30 in the morning here. I'm not typically a morning person, but I woke up at 5:30 this morning unable to go back to sleep. Maybe my body just knows that the first day of school is creeping up on me and I'll have to be getting out of bed earlier and it's getting ready for that.

Blessings,

Garsy

And Kylie,

I pray that X gets to feeling better quickly! That's got to be scary for a child her age. I know it would be VERY worrying for Aryn.

Blessings,
