harpluver -> Radiography/radiation risk?? (7/3/2008 2:06:44 PM)

Hello there[:)]
I am debating whether to take the path to become an accountant or Radiographer. I am leaning towards the Radiography. But there are certain people in my life, who are very concerned about the exposure to radiation and chemicals.
Anyone know anything about this? I mean I realize there is a risk. But they have specific safetly measures they take. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks so much.

There are risks with everything working in health care. So don't let them bother you. They will train you in procedures.

My husband works in radiation - he manufactures radioactive medicines. Any job that involves radiation exposure will be very closely monitored. There are very strict regulations about how much exposure is safe. Radiation is not inherently "bad" only if you get too much overexposure. My husband has been working around radioactivity his entire working career and has suffered no ill effects. Radiography would be a lot more interesting that accounting, lol! Go for it.
