We haven't heard about Sheri in a while but I saw this on Wes Hampton's website: I talked with Jeff Easter yesterday. He said that Sheri is doing very well and will start chemo fairly soon. They will be on the cruise next week, so it will be good to see them. The doctors still feel good about her prognosis so far but want to up her chances of staying well by going through with chemo. They are still waiting on the results of some scans . . .

Just saw this on Sheri's blog on the Gaither website: August 11, 2008 09:29AM Monday, August 11, 2008 La Dolce Vita--a plaque sits in my kitchen window that reminds me of our trip to Rome, Italy in 2005 as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We drove La Dolce Vita and felt the same sentiment shared by Hollywood fame, as we experienced "the good life". The beauty of the city and of the time makes me, this morning; think of how blessed I am to be living the good life. I have a 19 year old son who loves to take me to the movies, a 14 year old daughter who gives me credit for being the greatest influence in her life every time she writes a paper or does an interview, and a two year old baby girl who gives unsolicited hugs and kisses all day long. I have a husband who carries my purse for me and scratches my back in the itchy spots that I can't reach because of surgery, and although my Mama's health is declining, she still smiles the kind of smiles that make every day better. My brother calls weekly just to talk. My friends send cards of encouragement every day assuring me that this journey is not too difficult for my God to carry me through. I am blessed. I know every day I'm living La Dolce Vita. Sheri is such an example of Christ to us, praising God when the going gets tough. Wow...may God truly be her strength and Healer at this time.

This was posted on Singing News: Sheri Easter shares with Singing News: "Today, I received some of the best news I've had in a month! I met with my oncologist and from all of the bone scans, CT scans and echocardiograms, etc., everything came back clear - no tumors, no metastasizing, no visible signs of cancer anywhere in my body. Praise the Lord! "Thank you to everyone who has prayed, called and sent cards. May God bless you with the same love you've shown to me. "At this point, we are going to undergo chemotherapy as a measure to prevent cancer recurrences. Please keep the prayers going as you well know, chemo can take its toll on a body. I haven't missed any of my dates except the week of surgery and I hope to be strong enough to continue to travel full time. My aunt Janis traveled with the Lewis Family during her treatments and she has been a huge encouragement to me throughout this battle. I'm wise enough to know cancer nor its treatments are easy, but I choose to believe that God is faithful and I am determined to do everything I can to stay strong and healthy during this process."

Another posting on Singing News - this time from Tony Greene: Dear Singing News Fans, Let me start off by saying "Thank You" for the hundreds of cards and emails of encouragement as I walk this new path of end stage renal failure. To get you up to date, I am healing well after my stomach surgery to insert the tenckhoff catheter. TaRanda and I both now have completed the home dialysis training sessions and graduated with honors! LOL I still am having issues trying to get regulated to the dialysis, but I know the Lord is helping me and things will get better. I am doing the CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) at home and on the bus. With doing the manual exchanges, I am able to continue traveling and singing. I am going to keep winning people to the Lord. There will be no quitting. I am going to keep kickin' and eventually have a kidney transplant. Many have asked if I am going to quit singing because of my sickness and the answer is— ABSOLUTELY NOT. God is helping me and we are going to keep our singing schedule by the grace of God. Please feel free to contact me at 828-773-5997.
