As a child I grew up going to the beach every summer. As an adult it remains the same. There is a feeling og complete peace when I pass over the causeway to get to the island. Comfort washes me driving up and down the Seawall. Looking out to the horizon and hearing the waves crashing, I can feel God's Almightiness. I imagine His voice to sound like the waves, His arms spread the span of the horizon. The sun's reflection on the water in the early morning is completely spiritual. I can't help but praise Him for the beauty He has created. I can see His awesome power when the clouds roll in to build a thunderstorm. The image they create makes me feel very small standing on the beach looking at the clouds building up on the horizon. The thunder seems louder here than anywhere else. I love these times too, even though they can be scary, especially in a tent!
My question to you is where do you feel God most? I don't mean church, I mean a special place that it seems like He created just for you to spend time with Him?

Spiritual spots. . . very cool, DD! My mind went at first to things like a leopard's spots so I'm glad you're talking about places. And welcome back---I missed you.[:)]

I love the summer when I can sit on the front porch with my Bible and spend quiet time with the Lord. The little wrens on the birdhouse sing to me and Psalm 84, how lovely are Thy dwellings, O Lord, immediately comes to mind. Yes, the beauty, the sounds of His creation, our home and property, the quiet all remind me of what a wonderful Lord we have and He desires that I spend time with Him!

But in the winter time, it's a chair in the family room and the coziness of our home that He has provided for us that keeps me thinking of Him. We love to travel---the Canadian Rockies are some of our favorite God places.

But the real beauty is that God is with us wherever we are. Immanuel. And the question is "are we with Him?"

I want to be. Bless you, DD![:)]

I sense God's presence the very most in the midst of life's storms. A few months ago - hubby and I were in the middle of a storm which threatens our whole livelihood. Although it was one of the most difficult times in our lives it was also a very precious time in the fact that God's presence gave us strength. We are not out of the storm yet but it is a little 'quieter' at the moment; however, we face it all again next month.

Although the situation is not at all pleasant for anyone involved, the Lord's presence is not something I would trade for anything throughout this whole sad time and I thank and praise the Lord for every precious and wonderful thing He has taught us.

There are other times also when the Lord is close and such times include prayer times on site here when I know the Lord is speaking through His Word and very often my quiet times in my old faithful chair......

In nature - definitely. I am originally from the Highlands of Scotland (near Glencoe) and that is one area where you cannot fail to see the hand of God in His creation.

Thank you for this post. I love the OP. Beautiful.

Thank you both for sharing. BTW, I missed being on the forums! At my house, I find comfort everywhere. I can walk in from a trip to the grocery store and feel God here. Where there is peace, God is there. You have to understand that I came from many years of total chaos, so the serenity is a blessing!

On my trip, I was walking up the beach and asked God if He was with me, would He show me a sandollar. This beach does not have them on a regular basis, finding one is a miracle in itself. Right after, three pieces of sandollars appeared right in a row. Every step, there was another one. I just thought that was the coolest thing! I jumped for joy. Not that I doubted God was with me. I guess I just wanted to be extra close. Does that even make sense?

Another place for me is the mountains. I remember being a teenager on the ski lift and was absolutely over taken with awe. Talk about majestic!!!!
I can only imagine what beauty the Highlands of Scotland hold. What an amazing place to experience God.

The difference now, is looking at life through spiritual eyes rather than wordly eyes. I see God in everything, well mostly.

The next place I want to experience God is at the Grand Canyon. I can hardly wait for that one...

Spiritual spots ...

When I lived at the beach, I loved the majesty of it ... it was never ending and it never failed to make me think how awesome and unending God is.

Now, I have realized it's everywhere in nature. From the quiet secluded places to the tiny flowering weed in the sidewalk of a busy downtown sidewalk, and the amazement that it hadn't been trampled ... He placed it there to remind me of Him.

Mostly, it's when I take my focus off myself and the busyness of life all around me to stop and notice His handiwork. And it's in those moments that I feel like He has lifted me in His hands and given me a tender hug.

Thank you for this thread, DD!

I have those moments sitting around a campfire. It seems that I am able to converse with the Lord better at that time. It takes my focus away from the world. I also have those moments around small streams, you know, chasing frogs and watching fish and such.

I am persuing a study that is work related and that will help me land a promotion. I recently took a very difficult test and prayed for divine help because I knew without it, I would flunk. I heard that small voice telling me not to worry. During the test, I felt that reassurance and I passed it. I cried like a baby and praised God all the way home.

HE DID IT! I have 3 more tests to take.

HEY! 'Nother Frog!

I enjoy what I call "Little Moments of Sabbath Rest"

They happen anywhere, anytime... a total gift from my Heavenly Father for me and me alone:

One day as I was sitting at a stop sign with no one behind rushing me along, a little whirlwind came up and caught up all the little pink petals from right off the lone cherry tree beside the road and came to hover over my car! So there I was, surrounded by swirling cherry blossoms, and it continued for nearly a whole minute. It totally took my breath away. I knew instantly, that this was not just a fluke of nature. God had purposely shown His love for me in this holy confetti party!

Always, always... the ocean!
Always, always... the mountains!

I grew up going to the beach every weekend and many times during the week in the Summer. Living in the OC... I had the beach at my fingertips whenever I wanted it.

Now... living a couple hours from the ocean... I feel the glory of God whenever we go. I love the ocean... It's where my husband and I camped for our honeymoon... and it's where we go when we need refreshed.

But... I am a mountain girl at heart... and God has been with us so many times there.

But... that special place that it seems like He created just for you to spend time with Him.... is in my heart... in my mind... in my soul!

What a pleasant topic! One of my favorite "spiritual spots" is a little community park about 4 miles from my house, there's a trail that goes around a lake, and I love to go there and walk, or just stick a chair under a tree and sit and look at the lake and read. This place always reminds me of Psalm 23 (He leads me beside still waters...) Looking at the lake gives me such a feeling of peace.

Another place I love to go to is another little park in a little town in Pennsylvania called Bristol (anyone live near there?). It's right on the Delaware River, and I love to sit and look out at the river on a beautiful sunny day.

Your description of the beach makes me think how much I'd love to spend a day at the shore (here it is July and I still haven't made it!) I also love being on the beach and watching the waves, it's so peaceful!

A couple of years ago my husband and I took a trip to Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, and we stopped at a place called White Point, and we walked up a hill and found the most beautiful spot overlooking the ocean, there were rocky cliffs and it was just so beautiful and I felt very close to God there. There was a big cross there, marking the "Grave of the Unknown Sailor." Anyone ever been there?

My spiritual spot is nature. I love walking through the woods. I found several spots over the last few years. 1 is a conservation area that has running water with trees all around. Where I live now is also great.

I found some interesting flowers that I have never seen. The grow upside down but their display is a crown! It is so Awesome! I found the plant again and hope to take pics when they bloom. (water has been scarce, so if I have too will water em.)

I rmember when I first stumbled upon the sleeping slippers and picked a handful of em, only to learn they are rare and its a $50.00 fine to pick em.

But I also enjoy the wildlife that I get here, the frogs, lol worms, we get a few Egrets here, not to mention the turtles when it is hot and they like to sun.

On the other side the deer come out in the early am or late afternoon (around 4p).

I hope when I move which is soon, that our next spot will be just as nature bond. (And forget the bugs, eventhough they are God's creatures, I hate em! lol [:D] )
