BlackCapnHarlock -> Spiritual Superman . ... (7/5/2008 9:15:25 AM)

Folks that I know think I am a spiritual superman. THIS IS NOT TRUE!!
I don't do the sins that many folks do and haven't even in the past done the sins that a lot of folks do. Folks who read the "Men only" forum know my struggles.

However, those struggles and sins I wrestle with seem minor (all sins are problems) to those on the outside.

GOD has been changing me lately. GOD has been doing great things and it's changing me for food. It's all GOD though . .. this has created problems with a co worker who thinks I look down on other folks who aren't as "holy" as me.

This also creates some problems as folks who aren't christians don't know how to relate to me. They think because I don't curse, drink, smoke, tell dirty jokes, go to strip clubs that I'm super human. I"m not, I"m just as messed up as they are, maybe even more.

But wrestling with porn and fear is small in their eyes. I feel that I am losing touch with people I am supposed to reach.

Any suggestions????

It really doesn't matter what that individual thinks. The only thing that matters is that you are honest with God and others in your life. .

Don't worry, God will give you the tools that you need to be "in touch with people. Just keep on doing what you are doing.[sm=icon_smile.gif]

Hi BlackCapnHarlock ...

If you're not doing so already, pray for these people who see you as different. When the time is right, God will see to it that one or more of them will approach you for Christian help. Be ready when they do.

Look up as many scripture references re: struggles, temptation, fear, anxiety, etc and meditate and pray using them. The Word of God is alive, active and powerful and has the power to break any ungodly hold on our lives.

Fasting is also another means by which God blesses and releases us from bondages.

IF YOU ARE WILLING - GOD IS ABLE!

Well! If He is in you and you are in Him, you will still struggle with the flesh but the Holy Spirit can still do a work through you in spite of yourself.

Of course this makes sense! [:)]

Seems to me this is the crux of it. Christians are no better than non Christians, we are just better off. Unfortunately when professing Christians go around pretending to be perfect, even non believers can see right through it.

There must be a reason why they feel like you are looking down on them. Do you have any idea why they might feel that way??

Peace

That's all a part of growing closer to God... we grow further away from the world and those of it. And... we will suffer persecution for who we are in Christ, just as Christ Himself did.

It comes with the territory....

My suggestion... don't stop doing what you are doing. The ones that you are suppose witness to... God will make the way.

Being a christian and walking the walk will differentiate you from your co-workers.

Not only does this fly in the face of social norms, the collective metality of never standing out, it creats a guilt complex in others to see someone in control and with integrity.

Its a good thing, the small portion of persecution we face as christians....a somewhat social rejection. This kind of walk will also provide you with witnessing opportunities and people will ask you questions.

They will also, test you. Some will do it "under the table". Some will be blunt. No one will believe you are "all that" and sooner or later you will prove them right.

Just remember a christians perfection isn't being perfect...its loving perfectly.

I explained to one of my coworkers today. That my goals is to avoid hypocrisy. That means if I believe and tell you that going to a strip club or watching porn is a sin, that I should do neither. That if I believe that being drunk is a sin, that I shouldn't get drunk either.

He understood that most folks think of Christians as hypocrites or phonies. So that I have to live a life so that it will be free of that type of negative examination.

To go along with the theme of your post.. I have always striven to the biblical adage of, "let your yes be yes and your no, no."

If I tell someone, "I will be there Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM.." I like to do my best to honor my word and be there. When I do this at work, people are really taken aback. But then again I work for the government so I guess it is not the norm.
