FROGkissin -> Some "Scripture Affirmations" for your Christian "Meditation" Time (7/5/2008 10:03:14 PM)

The question came up in another thread in regard to 'positive affirmation.' On the whole, I am leary of this as well as the term 'meditation' because of the definitions common to New Age, et al.

[:)]However, the Bible is full of references to the things of God upon which we should meditate thereby stating in affirmation of our faith those things which we hold to be true only on the basis of God's WORD.

PS 48:9 Within your temple, O God,
we meditate on your unfailing love.[sm=heart.gif]

PS 77:12 I will meditate on all your works
and consider all your mighty deeds.

PS 119:148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night,
that I may meditate on your promises.

These Truths are the only reality upon which to base our hope.
His WORD is the only force that will change our lives.

And there are such amazing treasures in the scriptures that we need not go anywhere else for encouragement![sm=sparklecrown.gif]

Memorizing, meditating, thinking on, declaring, reciting, claiming...

...Go Ahead--> Chew on it![sm=chef.gif]

Here then, is the first installment of scriptures upon which to meditate and declare in affirmation:

RO 8:37-39 "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

[sm=king.gif]Now, Who's next?

Excellent and much needed thread.

Isaiah 40:30-31
31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Psalm 16:11
11 You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

Matthew 5:6
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

Matthew 6:33
33But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Romans 8:15
15For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

etc, etc..... there are so many - this could take all day (aye and much longer) to recount them all......Hallelujah! [sm=angel.gif]

Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my Shepherd
I shall not want......

Psalm 121
1I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
3He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

Psalm 32:1
Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

Psalm 41:1
Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.

Ephesians 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ

The Beatitudes Luke 6:20-23

20 Then He lifted up His eyes toward His disciples, and said:
“ Blessed are you poor,
For yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Blessed are you who hunger now,
For you shall be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
For you shall laugh.
22 Blessed are you when men hate you,
And when they exclude you,
And revile you, and cast out your name as evil,
For the Son of Man’s sake.
23 Rejoice in that day and leap for joy!
For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. Isaiah 61:1

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Psalm 105:4

It is for freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm then and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

We demolish every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5

Don't give up these things to the enemy. Positive affirmation and meditation are godly activities when He is the source and the goal. The body of Christ NEEDS positive affirmation, encouragement. That is what the Apostle Paul was all about---encouraging believers to believe and live in a manner worthy of their calling! That takes ALOT of positive affirmation. And meditation is a very needful spiritual practice in our communion with the Lord.

I meditate on God's word every time I open my Bible. I receive positive affirmation every time I open my Bible.

Don't be leary of what is good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![:)]

Yessiree, Bub!

Now, That's what I'm talkin' about!

RO 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

PHP 3:7 "But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead."

PHP 3:12 "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Pressin' On...

I thought ya'll might like to know what these affirmations have done.

Last night my friend called me while in the heat of a battle. God had other things to say at that time rather than the affirmations. These came for the follow up this morning! i did not know about this thread last night, jumped on here this morning, began reading and said, "Thank you Lord for these faithful women!".

Your post have come at a much needed time. I copied and pasted them in an e-mail for my friend for a handy and constant reminder of the Power of God. To remind her of His unfailing Love and especially for the strength we acquire in times of need through trusting Him. Thank you again ladies! It just goes to show, that we never know what God is going to do. He used ya'll these past couple of days and you didn't even know it!!!!!! What an awesome God we serve!!!

There's plenty more......

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come.

Proverbs 4:18
The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn,
shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

Psalm 18:28
For You will light my lamp;
The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 3:21-22
Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

James 4:8
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

Psalm 5:11-12
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name
Be joyful in You.
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Philippians 4:6-7
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

And there's so many, many more.......................... I just get carried away. Hallelujah - thank You Jesus. [sm=angel.gif]

You Go, Girl!

JN 15:9 "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other.

Oooooooooooooooh - I can't help myself - the thought "treasure" comes to mind...... [sm=angel.gif]

Proverbs 2:3-5
Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

Colossians 2:2-3
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love,
and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God,
and of the Father, and of Christ;
In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

P.S. Our Bible's are like little treasure chests, i.e. full of priceless treasures.

>>>>>TREASURE!<<<<<
JAS 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
[:)][:)][:)]

2SA 22:31 "As for God, his way is perfect;
the word of the LORD is flawless.
He is a shield
for all who take refuge in him.

2SA 22:32 For who is God besides the LORD?
And who is the Rock except our God?

2SA 22:33 It is God who arms me with strength
and makes my way perfect.

2SA 22:34 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer;
he enables me to stand on the heights.

2SA 22:35 He trains my hands for battle;
my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

2SA 22:36 You give me your shield of victory;
you stoop down to make me great.

2SA 22:37 You broaden the path beneath me,
so that my ankles do not turn.

Keep on Keepin' On!

Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial,
because when he has stood the test,
he will receive the crown of life that God has
promised to those who love him.

Better a poor man whose walk is blameless
than a rich man whose ways are perverse.

Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

P.S. Alysa - This is the verse that God has just put on my heart and I was thinking about you. It's even still on the theme of treasure! [;)]

Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.

Psalm 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever;
He will be our guide even to the end.
