ORIGINAL: luv2prayzHim theo_book - I think you might be onto something! RC - the bible says: Gen 3:6 (ESV) So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that is was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Something I will share with you. There is no record of God telling Eve about the forbidden fruit prohibition. My surmise is that God told Adam and Adam was to tell Eve. We know she was able to quote God's instruction to Adam, so I will guess Adam told Eve about the issue. However, Satan "beguiled" Eve, and talked her into disregarding the instruction to not partake of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. If my understanding is true, It would explain another New Testament instruction; i.e., Paul's instruction to the women of the church to "keep silence in the church" as punishment for her not accepting her husband's role as head of the family as established in Eden. I Cor 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. I Tim 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety. What think ye?
