Great idea, I think it should be available in all states that allow people to promote their own pet ideas & agendas via car tags.

Everyone has their own pet ideas and agendas.

I have no problem with the license plates. If I was down there, I would probably get one. When I lived in Minnesota, I wanted a Minnesota Natural Wildlife plate (the money went to support Minnesota's State Parks, lakes and wildlife reserves) but didn't have the cash. (Licensing your car in my home state is ridiculously expensive.)

My only question with this is, since they have one for Christians, should they also have ones for Muslims, Jews, Hindus, etc.?

I think your first statement answers your question.

There are already vanity plates out there that support things not on my list of favorite things. Why should Muslims, Jews, or Hindus be restricted IF they meet the same criteria as any other tag? In my state, a certain number of people have to sign a petition for a certain tag to be considered.

Personally I don't see the point of having a Christian one, but certainly if there's going to be, there could also be one for these other groups, yes.

That's probably not a bad method of approving a "vanity" plate.

Did they say how this was even suggested in South Carolina (if citizens signed a petition to have this, or is some lawmaker just came up with the idea)?

Meh. Bumper stickers are cheaper. *shrug*

I think they should all get one because it is smart and it is a money maker. People pay big money for those special interest plates and the more money you can get people to pay for those the more money into the state's coffers.

My only question though is what symbol would agnostics and atheists use?

SC plate gallery

Since there is a secular humanist plate [:@], I don't see a problem with a Christian plate. [;)]

And there is NO separation of church and state.

If the state can bring in more funds by promoting satanic cults...go for it.

If a licence plate sent you to hell, then I would worry.

If, as a christian, I want to have a christian licence plate..why shouldn't I have one...and why would I have to depend on the government to make me one? You can get personalized licence platse and with a little creativity, can make your own statements without using the government premade ones.

True, but only in states that don't require state plates in front and rear. In those states, you're sort of limited to bumper stickers.

In Ohio you have to have a modified plate holder to hold both the front plate and your decorative plate. When I see a decorative plate in the front I know it's someone coming back from Florida to visit. ; )
