We are so far off topic, this thread should simply be called "Should we go there?"

I'll admit that I find those gods repugnant. They bother me. They were in the nail salons I used to frequent, and while I enjoy my own incense use on rare occasion, to sit there in the morning and have to breathe that junk sacrificed to idols was ugly. I enjoy Japanese and Vietnamese food particularly, but most have those idols. We had Thai at home Friday night for our Sabbath meal, but we don't like it as well. But as far as "Hibachi steak houses," I had never heard of those until I read the title here. A hibachi was always just a type of cast iron grill to me. My first husband and I had a hibachi.

I didn't realize it was the "chop and cook in front of you, flip a shrimp into your pocket" place until it was mentioned specifically.

We have one of those restaurants nearby, and I wish I could go. We had gone years ago before my husband decided we needed a kosher home. I just hesitate to go now, because while I loved the food before then, there are just no protections for eating there. (Yes, we eat kosher but mainly biblically kosher, not rabbinically kosher. Rabbinically kosher is impossible in our area; biblically kosher is all that is necessary, in my opinion.)

I love Hibachi restaurants, but I think the Habachi restaurants deliberately try to parody a noble culture and culinary tradition and are in very bad taste. Therefore, we ought to boycott chains such as "Mistake and Egg" and "Arigato-Gesundheit's".

I never felt that boycotts work.. If we were to boycott places we are opposed to then we would starve to death or run out of gas.

ah, just grow some tomotoes and corn out in your yard, raise a goat, learn to fish and be done with it.

I truly love eating at these places. It is wonderful food, and entertaining as well.

We all need to head to our nearest Japanese Steak House or Benihana in honor of Rocky Aioki who passed away this past weekend.....He was the founder of Benihana chain of Japanese style steak houses. My parents and I loved going to the one in Bethesda, Maryland for their steak and shrimp.
