You think that much of Poison's music is bad? I can't think of any offhand which would be inherently un-christian.

ORIGINAL: duderox4lisa http://withoutwax.tv/2008/07/10/backstage-with-poison/ C.C. DeVille of Poison fame has become a Christian and wants his concerts to be more honoring to God--which means 99.7 % of the stuff they play would have to be deleted! I could post the Blabbermouth.net link but some of the responses may be a little hostile and vulgar. All right, time for the all-star Christian band with C.C., ex- Korn Brian "Head" Welch on guitar, Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain on drums, ex-Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson, and Diamond Dave Mustaine of Megadeth on vocals and guitar!!! Dave Ellefson is a Christian? Hmmm... Dan Spitz from Anthrax is, btw. Yes, Dave Ellefson is a Christian. I read in a recent copy of the Christian Examiner that he opened a Christian Music worship service and forum with a message. I don't know if he's on the best terms with Dave Mustaine, though. When I said 99.7 of Poison's music deleted, I meant "bad" in the sense that much of it wouldn't be too great in a church service. I actually like some of Poison's stuff, their 'Flesh and Blood' album was really good. If it's "bad" in the sense of morally objectionable, that's rock and roll for ya. If it's bad in that it's musically mediocre, well, there's that argument, too. I haven't heard much about Dan Spitz since Anthrax's brief reunion with the original lineup a few years ago, I don't know if he dropped out of music to go back to making watches in Switzerland. I thought he'd make a Christian album, as he said he was going to do several years ago.

Dave and Dave...both Christians but I don't know if they do well together because of past Megadeth dealings. When I had the opportunity to work with them some 5 years ago, it was the first time that they and Chris Poland had been together since they were all chemically inebriated in some form or other years before. The mood was tense to say the least. From all I've witnessed, Chris has changed the most. And he's still a killer player. The stuff he's done with his band Ohm is just stunning, imho. If Dave and Dave can practice forgiveness, they'd make a great team again.

Looks like I was wrong about Dan Spitz being MIA. I just found another Blabbermouth article where it says he spoke at the Cornerstone Festival and plans to do a Christian music project!!

I just heard about this yesterday. My gf is a huge Poison fan and she's goin' to the see them in August. I re-assured her that they'll probably play their hits 'cos they can't rip their fans off like that, and also the promoters would probably sue the spoo out of them.

If you play your "questionable" songs the Christian community (or at least the more conservative ones) will cry "compromise". But if they didn't play their hits then the fans will feel ripped off (rightly so). My own feeling on this is give the fans the show they expect (with the hits) or don't put on the show at all. If he didn't want to play the songs again (and we don't know if thats the case) then tour as something else. BTW: its great that he's a Christian now.

I got to see Poison before their commercial success. One of the perks of frequenting the clubs in Hollywood in my younger years. That means back when they put on their own makeup!

Dave Mustaine, alone, would make me NOT want to see this band. The guy is a first-class jerk, and the way he treated a friend of mine who was helping with his website when his band was actually worth something makes me like him less. Aside from that, I think C. C. needs to wake up and smell the coffee brewing. If he were to get rid of the great hits that Poison sang back in the 80's and early 90's he'd have a riot on his hands at every concert. I appreciate his zeal, but honestly.... Heck, God Himself might even storm the stage and demand they play "Nothing But A Good Time."

I don't think he makes those decisions anyway. But yeah, if you bill yourself as Poison then you have to play the Poison songs, otherwise the fans will at least be mighty upset.

I have a great idea! Why doesn't Poison just hang it up anyway!!!! That would allow for C.C. not to compromise himself AND save the world from any more of their worthless compositions.

Just because he became a Christian doesn't necessarily mean he's any less of a jerk now than he was then. Also, I've always just seen Megadeth as more of rip-off of Mustaine's original band, Metalica. They've had some songs that I liked, but nothing I really considered great.

I think he pretty much acknowleges that he was a jerk. Old things pass away, all things become new. At least that is how it is supposed to work, in his case we'll probably never be sure. I personally wouldn't be interested in this "dream band" (although I would support their "cause") because I don't like Mustaine's vocal style. I too am not a Megadeth fan.

Especially when he was kicked out of that band. Never personally saw the appeal of Megadeth either, don't like his vocals or lack thereof.

Talking about first class jerks, the four boys in Metallica fit that bill. Yeah! Lars kinda gets on my nerves in any and every interview I've seen him in. That "Some kind of Monster" thing-y/movie and on the VH-1 special about the so-called black album. I don't mind Kirk or James, they seem pretty even keeled.

So, for you the scripture should read" They will know us by our disdain, one for another"? The anger and unforgiveness is not very attractive to a world that already sees us as a bunch of hypocrites.

How is Megadeth a rip-off of Metallica? They have a totaly different sound and style, and they were way more metal than Metallica was in the 90's, except for Risk, the only one of the six albums they put out in that decade that I didn't like. And The Four Horsemen is a rip-off of Mechanix.

Praise God that C.C. has come to know the Lord. We should be praying that God will give him the ability to honor him and possibly affect others in a positive way, so that they too might be saved. Someone did it for him!

The only thing I know that is bad about Poison is the fact that they couldn't write a decent sounding song even if they really tried. The worst heavy metal cliches ever can be found in that band.
