I know I am late comming in on this, but I think a different prospective is possible. Baptism was not invented by Yochanan(John), Yeshua(Jesus) cousin. The Mikvah is commanded in Ha Torah and is used for many purposes, but generally is a way of making one acceptable for approaching Adonai. Now, with this understanding, it follows that Yeshua and the Apostles were pointing out the reality that is behind the Mikvah when they talked about being "baptised in/with the Holy Spirit". That is that we need to br made acceptable to Adonai through the Mikvah of Ruach Ha Chedosh. I, personnally, do not see this as a one time event to which one can point as proof of salvation. In my opinion, that would be close to salvation by works. I believe this is a concept or phrase lifted from the Tanach(old testiment) and used in various context to make any number of points. Therefore, apart from the root connotation of preparing one to come into Adonai's presence, the proper interpretation of the phrase is depndant on the context ion which it is used. I believe the only sacrament is Adonai's grace through faith and that is manifest in any number of ways.

i beleive that when we are baptized the traditional way is when the holy spirit comes in and dwells within us and becomes a part of us.

ORIGINAL: Dan1138 Rejecting the Holy Spirit is the only sin that won't be forgiven. That's a nice sentiment and even sounds spiritual, but it is not what Jesus said. It is attributing the works of the Holy Spirit to Satan - not nearly the same thing. Please expound upon this, I am TRULY interested. How can one attribute God's works to satan? Also: 1 Thessalonians 4 7For (P)God has not called us for (Q)the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification. 8So, he who rejects this is not rejecting man but the God who (R)gives His Holy Spirit to you. and: 1 Timothy 5 5Now she who is a (G)widow indeed and who has been left alone, (H)has fixed her hope on God and continues in (I)entreaties and prayers night and day. 6But she who (J)gives herself to wanton pleasure is (K)dead even while she lives. 7(L)Prescribe these things as well, so that they may be above reproach And finally: ( I am not sorry for God's Word being long, but it is a chore to read all this) Job 21 1-17 1Then Job answered, 2"Listen carefully to my speech, And let this be your way of consolation. 3"Bear with me that I may speak; Then after I have spoken, you may (A)mock. 4"As for me, is (B)my complaint to man? And (C)why should I not be impatient? 5"Look at me, and be astonished, And (D)put your hand over your mouth. 6"Even when I remember, I am disturbed, And (E)horror takes hold of my flesh. 7"Why (F)do the wicked still live, Continue on, also become very (G)powerful? 8"Their (H)descendants are established with them in their sight, And their offspring before their eyes, 9Their houses (I)are safe from fear, And the rod of God is not on them. 10"His ox mates without fail; His cow calves and does not abort. 11"They send forth their little ones like the flock, And their children skip about. 12"They sing to the timbrel and harp And rejoice at the sound of the flute. 13"They (J)spend their days in prosperity, And suddenly they go down to Sheol. 14"They say to God, '(K)Depart from us! We do not even desire the knowledge of Your ways. 15'Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him, And (L)what would we gain if we entreat Him?' 16"Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand; The (M)counsel of the wicked is far from me. 17"How often is (N)the lamp of the wicked put out, Or does their (O)calamity fall on them? Does God apportion destruction in His anger? The wicked do not desire the Rod of God who is His correcting Spirit, they say to God that He is not welcome and the lamp of the wicked is put out like the foolish virgins because the Oil that is the Holy Spirit is not purchased without money. The healing sealing Spirit is rejected and death ensues.
