Not much, in my opinion. I agree. I'm sorry to see a thread that started with support and positive advice degenerate into just the kind of snippy-sinping eye-rolling the OP was lamenting! All I can say is that Crosswalk has a board culture, just like any board out there. It's not for everybody. We can put ideas out there, and hope for change, but it's very hard to change the whole culture of a board. If a certain folder isn't meeting your needs or upset you, don't read it. If a certain person has a history of getting under your skin, don't interact with them. If someone steps over the line, report them and let the mods take care of it. If you try all those things and crosswalk still isn't working for you, maybe it's time to try another venue.

I've met lovely women here too, but there are unique frustrations to this folder. But, there are unique frustrations in Current Events and Moral Issues and other folders as well. Each folder has a culture, just like crosswalk as a whole does. When I post in different folders, I have to act in different ways. When I go to CE, I have to take eye drops, or I get muscle cramps from my eyes rolling so hard from all the simplistic political comments. In this folder, I have to dial up my whining tolerance sometimes! Sorry if that offends some, but it's true!

I'm sure it may seem as if I'm talking out of both sides of my mouth; but I'm really not when I say that I very much agree with what Jalanda just said.

Oh, I've often wondered how many non-Christians have been driven further from the faith by what they've read on this forum, and not just in this folder. On the other hand, anyone who would base their faith, or lack of it, on an impression from a very limited, self-selected subgroup of a faith almost deserves what they get. Personal responsibility has to kick in somewhere. I always double check opinions I read here with my own reading of Scripture and opinions from sources on the other side of whatever issue, then make up my mind myself, with the Spirit's leading. OK, I'm going to sign off for the night. My puppy wants attention!

being made to feel as though you are not very politically minded in current events is one thing, being told or having it insinuated you are not a real woman or a woman in God's will because you work outside the home or have a caesarian, or get an epidural is quite another. When I first joined here, someone sent me a pm about being careful in the Stepford Wife folder. I thought they were joking. They were not.

People keep bringing this up, but really. There are entire support/encouragement threads devoted to un-natural childbirth, working outside the home, and when breast isn't best. In this very folder. (I am one who has had a cesearian, I found the threads very supportive). I'm sorry if others have experienced otherwise. I just haven't seen this though.

However, some may bring up examples (as I did) to help make their point I honestly would prefer that they don't. I was very uneasy about it in your op but thought the response you got was very gracious and caring. I'm concerned that if we start dragging in examples it could be viewed as attack.

I don't see it either and I was induced AND had an epidural(oh the horror). Actually, I would say that 85% if women here have had an epidural, except for the recent rash of home births.

Kath what would be a better way then? Some don't think there is a problem and some of us are just "overly sensitive"? I'm not sure how to demonstrate a point without being able to use an example. I'm trying to be "general" and maybe I shouldn't have used that illustration in my op, but since it wasn't "one person" but rather the tone of an entire thread, I thought it would be ok. I'm not trying to be contrary - it's an honest question.

Do we have any work out side the home, bottle feeding, birth control taking, public school supporting mods? Just for clarifications sake? Well, to be fair, I believe Kath's kids are in public school, and I believe she works outside the home, although I am not sure. I don't think she bottle or breast feeds, either one, at this point, though, her kids are WAY past that. As far as if she is birth control taking, that's really something I don't wanna know. That's TMI about someone who has, in a sense, a position of authority. Just like there are certain things I don't wanna know about my parents, there are certain things it would kind of squig me out to know about Kath or Fritz, or some of the other mods.

I didn't take bc pills because I didn't want to pollute my body with artificial hormones, the abortion side of it didn't even occur to me at the time. I supplemented with bottles quite often, used up the freebie stuff I got from the hospital and bought more but did bf. I don't work outside the home but I am working when I'm here at the computer, doing admin stuff. My husband considers it a job. I had an epidural with the boys and screamed at the nurses when I got off the elevator I needed one with Linz but they checked me and said it was too late. Words that struck terror in my heart.
