Mostly I stay at home, but I do go to school part-time and we also volunteer for political campaigns. I'm probably busy anywhere from 15-30 hours a week depending on what is happening.

I work full time outside the home as a jr. high teacher, but I'm hoping with every fiber of my being that I'm actually "in the middle of changing directions." I will quit the day my husband finds a job I never wanted to teach, but did it to put my husband through school and now I'm starting my seventh year and none too thrilled about it. The first day of school did not go well today I really, really, really want to be a stay-at-home-mom. The mom part will happen very soon whether I'm staying home or not, so I guess that's the most important part

I work inside the home, but I don't own my own business, nor am I a wife or a mom, so I didn't vote, lol. I'm a SAHS(stay at home sister lol). I've explained it all here. I guess I got kinda ahead of you christstar, I didn't realize you had more questions up your sleeve.

Whispers gentle hint: Things like this are why I always try to include an "other" in my polls.

I'm a full-time outside the home (40-50 hours a week) mom. Fortunately, the company I work for has a very liberal flex-time policy so as long as I get 40 hours between Monday at 12:01am and the following Sunday night at 11:59 pm, I'm fine. Sometimes it's a struggle, other times, it's no problem to put in 50 hours...
BUT...I love what I do, it's fun, it's interesting, it's challenging...I don't think I could handle being home full time again...

OneOfHisJewels, you should vote. The OP didn't say that you had to be married or a mom. She wanted to know about all of the women here. Even though the chose selection said SAHW or SAHM... I think you should still vote. 'Cause you definitely work hard, girl.

So another thread has got me thinking.

There are times I feel ancient in this folder, and other times I feel like a baby.

So I'm wondering, how old is everyone and where are you in your life station??? (married, single, kids, no kids, old, young, retired, in school, etc)

I think I'll do a series of polls and post the results between polls.

I work somewhere between part and full time outside the home. I usually work 30-35 hours a week. I plan (hope-pray) to semi retire in a couple of years.

I work inside the home. I'm a SAHM. For now, any work that I do will be inside the home (I currently do some magazine writing, and I look after another baby.) I used to teach skating outside of the home (obviously, though it would be cool to have my own ice rink) but we can't swing that anymore with Dh's job and one car.

We have talked about me working outside of the home when we're done having kids and they are all in school, but that would be part time. Plus, I kind of want to get my Master's degree once they are in school. Also, I would love to get more involved with a charity I work with now, something more permanent once I have the time. But that is all in the future because we've just begun having kids.

Outside the home, full-time and happy to be there.

I have taught forever (or so it feels) and I am well suited to it. I am also an illustrator. Since we move, though, I have lost my art network and have to build a new one. Also, having taught in private schools for the most part, I don't have a certificate. So now I am serving breakfast at a motel one mile from my home. It is nice that it gives me time in the afternoon to work on art or on our house. It stinks cause I have to work every other weekend and miss church.

so I am definately in the middle of change.

I'm single and I work full-time as a teacher. I love my job, but I'd love to try out the wife and mother thing before too long .

I am back in school, working on starting my own business, and am working part-time as a performer. I used to work full-time in a nice but excruciatingly boring corporate job.

Each day, I'm discovering something new that God is doing in my life. I am somehow moving steadily towards what a previously thought was impossible - a vocation in the arts (writing, music, and maybe some video/film).

I didn't vote the first time...but I am 30 right now (will be 31 next month)

I am a SAHW/M. I've always been home ever since getting married, but a few times I had a business I did (Avon, making quilts and other crafts, etc, babysitting/nanny, things like that)

Wow, Memaw, that's a lot of work. In light of doing all that for him, I hope in return he helps you around the house, or that you have a cleaning person.

The "cleaning person" is our 16 yr old DD.
J/K but seriously he does help out tremendously as does she.

Glad to hear that, I was afraid you were overworked.

I agree with your statement in the second line.

I am:
22
married
no kids
taking my last class for my AA
hoping to have a real estate appraiser intern license in a few weeks
working two jobs that total full-time.

I didn't vote because I'm currently pregnant with our first child We would like to have more children after him and after the trouble we had getting pregnant the first time, we'll probably not use any prevention after our son is born until we're "finished" having kids.

Yes, five and we're done. At least for the forseeable future and biologically.

none, only because I'm not married..
I sure want some, though!

If I am still single at 40, and if I can afford, I may even look into adopting a girl.
