I have to wear them on my job, and do wear them to church when necessary. I really dislike both hose and heels. I have really short feet, so heels are always a strain and hose bag at my ankles, unless I get ones made for shorter women. Expensive.

how do you feel about hose and heels

I like heels, hate hose.
My legs are so chubby (fat) that they rub together which could cause a fire if I were to wear hose.

hate hose....heels it depends on the type of heel. I like heels that are chunky enough to be stable with carrying kids around.

How young is too young for a girl to start wearing higher heels?

I think girls start wearing them too soon, and it causes a lifetime of back problems.

my girls play in kids play heels, but only if they are solid enough to not cause difficulties...and they can't wear them all the time. Real shoes we allow thick soles and pump heels (like ½-1in), not high heels. We are mostly at home though (homeschool) and we don't wear shoes in the house, so they only wear their "heel" shoes every once in a while.
eta...my girls are 3 and 7

I don't mind heels, but I rarely wear them anymore.

I dislike pantyhose, but don't mind tights in winter--go figure.

I like those thigh-high stockings that stay up on their own if I absolutely *have* to wear stockings. They are not nearly as uncomfortable as pantyhose--and if you get a run in one leg, you can toss just that leg and still have the other one.

I really don't like wearing hose, so I only wear them when I want to cover up an ugly bruise or something. And I've always been too clumsy to wear heels - I've been known to fall out of my flat sandals, so I wouldn't want to risk adding the extra height!

I hate hose and don't wear them anymore. If my job required it, I would wear slacks and not wear hose, and no one can see my legs. :)

I like heels. I don't wear them all the time right now, but my job has a very casual dress code right now.

I have worn tights, and can wear them, but I hate hose. It is something about the material.

hate 'em both. I wear dresses/skirts all the time and have never understood why people think heels and stockings are necessary for that mode of dress.

I like heels, low to medium. I detest pantihose, don't mind tights or stockings.

I like those too, but can't wear them in the Summer over here. They give me blisters.

I checked both love heels, hate hose and dislike both. I wont wear panty hose. Can't stand it. But I love high heels. But I broke my toe last March and have just been having achy problems with my feet which, I think is from my workouts and my new gym having a wood floor. I miss my heels but can rarely stand to wear them now. It's just not worth it.

I like to wear them at times. I think they look nice and heels make me look taller. I'll wear them to church or special occassions, but I take them off when I get home. I don't wear them all the time.

I was dresses only for several years, and my in-laws still are, and even some of my siblings wear dresses almost exclusively. I was used to it at the time and didn't think it looked strange, but now that I don't wear dresses only anymore I find that dresses with other kinds of footwear (tennis shoes, canvas sneakers, flip-flops, etc) really do stand out in a crowd and look "religous". Since I don't share that conviction anymore, I'd rather not have that look.

Hate, hate, hate pantyhose. I wear tights in the winter, but hose itch me and they always get a run the first time I wear them.

Love, love, love heels. The higher the better. I wore heels all through my pregnancy (my MIL was so mad at me telling me I was going to trip. So one day to appease her I wore flat shoes...and I tripped.)

Same here. Our church isn't strict on the pantyhose issue, but another one of our churches are...but when I go there I still don't wear pantyhose. I don't see how that makes me any more modest (if that's the reason for it.)

Hate hose, the last several times they gave me hives when wearing them, so I am glad I haven't had to wear them.

Heels are ok but I haven't found any comfortable shoes but I wear a small size. But I think my feet grew or something so maybe I'll find a pair that fit.

thigh highs don't always fit right if you have short legs.

wearing casual shoes with dress clothes makes you stand out. Esp if you are wearing socks and white tennis shoes with a skirt (and nylons). Yes I see it every winter.

I can't stand either of them. Hose just feel icky to me and for some reason I always feel cold in them, and heels... I can keep my balance just fine walking on a 2x4 but stick me in heels and I can't stay upright. Though I grew up going almost constantly barefoot so maybe that makes a difference. *shrug*

Hate hose, don't mind tights during the winter. I wear heals alot, probably 4-5 times a week. They aren't super high, I prefer low-mid heals. Right now I'm on the hunt for a pair of super comfortable, everyday black heals.

Why people think they must be worn:
In the professional office world, it is standard wear. Hose and heels are a must when greeting clients if you are wearing a dress or skirt set. The hose lessen the appearance of bruises, varicose veins, and give a bit of a tanned look. No glow in the dark legs with a stray hair here and there, lol.

Can you imagine a woman lawyer in court in flats and no hose? big no-no.

I would wear hose for business, indeed. But my work is casual so that is an exception. Hose do add a more polished look to the leg. Summer casual I go bare legged and love it. Barefooted too if I could.

My husband likes high heels so I bought a couple pair to wear occassionally.

there are products out that cover up blemishes on the legs and make them look flawless just like hose do....so if I had a job that required that look I would much prefer to use that then hose.

Here, dresses with flip flops just look like the Texas coast. LOL

I wear flip flops with everything, though I very rarely wear dresses or skirts.

I can understand that. Most business skirts and sets are *way* too short for me. I would certainly wear hose if I wore them that short (and shave my legs, too!).

My skirts are long enough that nobody can see my oogly hairy legs.

I wear flipflops or nice flat sandals in the summer, and I have several pairs of nice flat shoes for winter. No athletic shoes, although I've been considering them lately.

I voted for the last two. I abhor hose and they will never go on my body again. I like heels if they are well made with a insole that allows traction because I have a foot sweating condition. Most heels (and other types of shoes as well) have a really slick insole that makes wearing them awful. So, it's not heel per se that are the problem.
