I was a senior in college, was in a bit of a deep depression. It was my best friend's 21st birthday, so i went reluctantly. I went to a get beer at the bar, while waiting there i talked to this girl. Turned out she was my best friend's sister. We hit it off right away. After about 10 months dating i proposed to her . He wanted to wait 2 years before we got married. After a 1 year we have sex. Today we have been together for 7 years, 5 years being married, have a 2 year old son and now expecting our second child next year. He is a year older than I also. There were a few tough times in our relationship and i never got along. He handsom much tried to ruin our relationship during our engagement . My father was against our relationship also, he pretty much disowned me, until our son was born . My mother, brother and sister-in law were more accepting of her from the start. now if you are waiting when love will find you? my advice is just look for signs and you will know the right girl when she arrives.

My wife and I met at a Christian Singles Ministry bible study. I knew she was the one. She wasn't quite so sure at first. We eventually married, and then a few others of the leaders in the group married. The singles ministry is gone, but my wife and I are still in love 20 years later.

I met soccerguy (my hubby) in June 2004, in the old Christianity.com boards that merged here with crosswalk back in 2005. There was a thread called "No hope for older singles." He posted his situation, that he was a widower with eleven children. A bunch of us gals comforted him in his grief. He and I struck up a friendship and I introduced him to the Lounge. We had so much fun posting for hours and that lead to phone calls. I was looking for a job, fresh out of a divorce after a three year long separation (which brought me to the boards in the first place). He invited me to come look in PA, so with the little time I had left before school began in KY, I headed to PA to give it a look-see. I ended up just visiting him and his ten kids at home. We also visited the baby, born premature at 28 weeks a month before his mother died, at this time, now 7 lbs and 3 months old. Watching soccerguy hold that baby, grieving the loss of his mother, tenderly stroking his head, well, I just melted. That baby and his dad won me over as well as all the kids at home. He asked me a week after I returned to KY to come and watch his kids for some pay. I agreed under one condition (worried I'd end up without a job) that it had potential to be a permanent position. He said it did, so I moved to PA. I cared for the kids for the entire school year while we got to know each other better. He proposed on April fools day. (how fitting that two old fools would blend their big families into one gigantic one!) We were planning a combined family vacation in the Outer Banks, so it was decided to make that our wedding vacation too. It's been three years and counting!

My first recollection of my spouse was in 7th grade. There were four of us who had to share a frog to dissect in biology class. There were two boys and two girls, so my other girlfriend and I sat back and watched the two guys have at it. Nothing much ever became of this interaction. We seldom ever talked with each other except in classes we were in together. Then in 10th grade we stood next to each other in the marching band lineup for the season and got a chance to talk and learn about each other. Five years later we married and have been happily married for 34 years! I never would have guessed that my "frog" would lead me to my Prince Charming!

We started emailing each other after he responded to an online personal ad I posted on Yahoo (he was in Illinois, I was in TX but had been raised in IL, this is important in a minute). We emailed for 5 months or so. I was working offshore and our satellite tv had gone out so we were all BORED. He would send a bunch of joke emails every day, and it got to be where everyone on my boat was looking forward to his emails. The next time I went "home" for a break, I decided to meet him on the advice of my shipmates. We figured out that we had actually met several times while I was in high school and he was in college; our towns were an hour apart. I didn't really have any impressions of him...he was older than me and I figured that would make him off-limits at my house. Our first date was a picnic, and he proposed 2 months later. We were engaged for 15 months and celebrated our 9 year anniversary last week. He's still making me laugh

I had just transferred to MD to be the warehouse manager for a department store, 2 months later we had outside help for inventory. I've always been early getting to work and when I pulled into the parking lot I noticed another car there I thought it was empty till I saw a head pop up. I found out who had asked her to come help and got her to give this girl my phone number. We chatted on the phone for awhile met and talked then to our first date 7 moths later we were married and it'll be 18yrs in 17 days! She did kind of mislead me though, she was told the wrong time to be there so she wasn't actually early, the song Waiting on a Woman is my theme song lol

My 3rd cousin, whom I know better than some of my 1st cousins, called my mom and told her about this young lady at her church. Mom said I ought to go and check her out. I went to her church to meet the one who is now my wife of 17 years.

Man... I don't know if I should answer this! It was my 17th birthday. My sister (6 years older) threw a party for all the springtime birthday people and did so on my birthday. She invited all her crazy friends which through mutual acquaintences included my wife. Our household was brought up around alot of drugs, parties, and on and on so this was normal stuff. We were never ones to exchange gifts but she did give me a few things that evening: 3 volumes, several shots of tequila, and the worm from the tequila bottle. I recall talking with my wife while sitting on a cooler and trying desperately to sound intelligent. Unfortunately, I kept falling off the cooler. It was empty so tipped easily but made me look like a bigger idiot than I already was. It's funny but our main topic of discussion was about God and religion throughout the entire night. She never met anyone that talked openly about God. We didn't communicate for about a year. Then one day I thought about her. I looked up her parents phone number, called, and she answered. She really freaked out because right at that exact moment she was looking at her year book and saw a picture of me just as I called. We soon became best friends.. and I do mean BEST friends. We hung out everyday unless she had a boy friend or I had a GF. Soon we found ourselves wanting more than just friends. Now we're going on our 23rd year with four puppies: 20, 18, 7, 4.

Monica and I met in Sunday School. She was the only one in the room who caught my eye AT ALL. We had an interesting conversation over the opening question of the day. I decided that I didn't know anything about her, so I was not going to pursue anything. She scored points with me about 90 seconds later. The teacher asked if anyone wanted to host a midweek Bibgle study. Monica immediately volunteered. That impressed me. Still, I wasn't going to ask her out. So she asked me out, although she denies it. I called her at home to ask her about the Bible study about 2 weeks later (completely, 100% motive free), and she said the week before no one came, but if I came and no one else did we could "go out for coffee or something." I about fell over. "Did she jsut ask me out?" Okay, I'm not stupid. No one else came, we went to Denny's on December 3rd, 1992. We got married October 9, 1993. There's more to the story, but I'll stop there. For now.

We met when he came through my line when I 18 and was a cashier at an auto parts store. I didn't pay much attention, always hurrying. Later he applied for a night job there and was hoping also to get to know me. I saw his timecard and kept asking - when do I meet this new employee?, and when I finally did - WOW, knocked my socks off!! I asked him out - 18yrs married now

God really blessed me with meeting my wife. Our fourth anniversary is the 27th of November. I had driven 45 miles from my present home to visit my older kids in Corinth Ms. and upon returning home. I stopped at an intersection in a small town. I noticed a pickup that looked familiar to me sitting in the Hospital parking lot. Dr. ABC worked several different Emergency rooms around our area. Hence I pulled in to see if this was his truck and how his day was going. I entered through the ambulance entrance and sure enough the ER Doc was there. The visit was also nostalgia for me because this was the first ER I had worked in. We set there with a nurse and told “war stories” and he talked about how his day was going. He then mentioned that the other night they were talking about a crazy incident that happened 24years ago ( a tornado) and my name had come up. The ER Clerk was in on the conversation and chimed in, “I remember Dave from years ago”. I really racked my small brain to even remember anything from 24 years ago. I couldn’t remember her name though and Doc said, “She is out front taking patient information. She has also gotten divorced from a 21 year old marriage and she is still taking it hard” I walked out to patient information and I was shocked. I just stared until she looked up at me and I guess she was in shock also. We stammered back and forth for a while and I just blurted out, “Angie you look just a sexy as you did back then”. Angie and I had dated for several months when I was employed there and honestly so much had happened in my life I had totally forgotten her. I think the patients tired quickly of their unexpected wait so Angie got an assistant to handle the front desk and we took off to a romantic dinner at McDonalds. We spent almost three hours there and talked about almost everything. I remember asking her why we didn’t hit it off back then and seek a higher level of commitment, Angie smiled, “I wanted to settle down and you were working in the ER some, working at the fire department and even working some for the Sheriffs department. I guess I was wanting more at the time”. As we continued sharing information she asked me what I was doing now besides being a single dad. I replied, I am working at an ER north of here, still working for a fire department and I do still rarely get into a patrol car”. We left the romantic atmosphere of McDonalds and I reached out to hold her hand. She returned the gesture and well that’s history. Most of our early relationship was online because of my work schedule and being a single father but 9 months later we united in matrimony at her church This has been a difficult year for our marriage but it is surviving and growing stronger in Christ and our commitment to a marriage centered on strong Christian values. ahve a blesssed day dave

I find it interesting how almost no one met their spouse at church. I wonder; what does that say?
