The eternal damnation message really did not take root until 5th Century, before that the Church was very much Universalist. Do some church history research before AD 500.

If you're going to say something like that, you really need to back it up with some support.
On an off-topic note, Arch, did you abandon all the other threads you were taking part in?

to Archangel;

Although it fits in some ways, what you suggested, that he went there after being resurrected, it says in other places he spent 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the earth, like jonah did, in the belly of the whale,

i think he went there first, esp. if he was suffering for us in hell...
this would seem logical that he went there first, before the resurrection..,

although, if he went to abrahams bosom to pick up his captives,

what is the meaning of the leading captivity captive, they were prisoners? right? and abraham's bosom wasnt a prison i dont think--??

It seems a better fit for him to go to Abraham's after the resurrection, if he did,

although I think it all reads so far that he went to the belly of the earth as part of the punishment he took for us, and

in other places it further says that the princes of this earth, if they had known that the Father and Jesus had a mystery plan, one hidden from the foundatino of the earth, they would never have crucified Jesus!

I believe the Father and Jesus pulled one over on them and I think they did not realize it until Jesus descended in the belly of th earth, and
then they probably were glad thinking they had killed him and now he was prisoner with them down in there, and JEsus after he suffered hell, then probably God resurrected him in POWER and he most likely beat the bahooties out of all of those beings down there that thought they had him!

Hell and suffering for awhile, and then POWER RESURRECTION! Jesus grabbed the keys and all the authority from the devil as he beat them up on his way out!
(paraphrased by me, of course!)

by grabbing all the authority that the devil had, I mean everything that the first Adam handed over to Lucifer when the fall occurred, and Adam lost what God gave him, the rule and reign of the earth,

'be fruitful, multiply, subdue the earth, have dominion over all..."

...this last part ties in with the restoration of all things,...
---Jesus the second Adam took back what Adam 1 lost, and Adam 1 lost it to Lucifer, in a tyrannical way, he is an outlaw, but he actually stole what Adam had I guess through trickery with Eve.

That is "church" creed....not the Word of God.

Well, holy men of God consecrated entire lifetimes to digesting and summarizing God's Word, over the course of centuries. Fools, all of them, they could have just waited -- for you.

But that's all right, now we can summarily consign 2,000 years of earnest and diligent Christian thinking to the memory hole, because YOU have come along to set us right, about what the Word of God REALLY says.

Am I worthy to live at the same time as you?

So should church history override the Word of God?
