What fictional character would be your perfect mate.
He/She does not have to be from classical fiction. Any book will do.

For me It would be Mr. Knightly from Emma.

My second choice would be Donal Grant From George MacDonalds, Donal Grant.

I've always been partial to Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice, but I don't know I'd say he's perfect for me... Maybe once we both get over our stubborness I want to give this a little more thought.

Oh, can this come from a movie? I don't read many fictional books these days.

Mine is Tom from Desperate Housewives.........except he's not outdoorsy. But if he was outdoorsy, he would be everything I'd want in a husband. And he's not a Christian...uh oh...one more strike for him, and I'll have to find a new fictional perfect husband.

Wow that's tough. Maybe Kahlen Arnel from the Sword of truth series. She's sweet, lovable, cute, and absolutely deadly if you get her too riled up.

Nah. I've found that truth is both stranger and much much better than fiction.

I'll have to pass on this one for the moment.

True enough, But it is all just in fun. Besides our truth isn't all that appealing right now is it?

Right off the top of my head, I say it would have to be either John Boy from the Waltons or one of Nicholas Sparks' male characters, because most of those are pretty good.

OK, I have another one, but he's not fictional. I've always thought Doug Flutie would be a perfect husband/father. I'd marry him if he ever become a widow and come knocking down my door, lol.

I can't think of someone from literature right off the top of my head right now - I think I'm in a movie mode right now. I'd have to say -

Sidney Poitier as Mack Thackeray in "To Sir with Love" would be one. Handsome, smart, dignified, and committed. Sidney was definitely "the man" back in the day.
Keanu Reaves as Alex Wyler in "The Lakehouse." Smart, tender, committed, handsome, thoughtful, handy, principled.
Laman Rucker as Sherriff Troy in "Why did I get Married." Principled, patient, gentle, definite heart-of-gold, and fine.

There are more ... but those are the three that come to mind.

I have another one, too: Aragorn

Or, oh, how about Batman (as played by Christian Bale). Well, never mind. He'd always be out saving the city instead of being at home.

Yes! YEs! Yes! I love that man. I'll marry him anytime. Now, if we can only get rid of that nymph Arwen!

Ok, I've been corrected by my daughter..Arwen's not a nymph, she's an Elf.

HE was considered a prince here before we lost him to Buffalo. He'll always be our hero....next to Wayne Gretzky.

Then can I pick Steven Curtis Chapman--of course if he wasn't married? The man is close to a saint and full of love for his family and God.

Or maybe a cartoon.... Underdog "I'll save you Poly"

Wow....this is a toughie.

I'm leaning these days towards Jim Halpert on "The Office." Hilariously funny and secretly romantic.

I could be his Pam. Absolutely.

Digging back into a series I liked as a kid...

Clark Davis from the Love Comes Softly series.

more recently...

Mel Gibson's character in the movie Patriot. NOT Mel Gibson, just the character in that movie.

Gilbert from Anne of Green Gables. Yes, he becomes a very good husband and father in the books..I'm not referring to the butcher the book movies by Kevin Sullivan...ok the first movie was pretty true to the book, after that it went downhill..but I digress. I also always thought Matthew would have been a good husband and father, although he was never married in the book.

Either of the 2 guys in Enchanted.

Trying to think of an answer here but I'm drawing a blank. I rarely read fiction except for Jane Austen stuff. And I can't really think of any of her characters I'd be all that interested in. Maybe Miss Price from Mansfield Park would be my favorite.....

I was thinking about this overnight too - I don't read fiction except if it's assigned - reading like that is very painful for me (sorry to your avid readers).

But, I think I'll agree with Gilbert......good one!!!!!!!

Cyrus.

Cyrus is Mrs. Pollifax's husband, whom she married after becoming a spy for the CIA and meeting him in Africa on one of her assignments.

He's large, smart, very good looking (for an older man), down-to-earth, practical, yet allows her to follow her career, and comes flying to the rescue whenever she's in a jam...even joins her in her assignments, sometimes.

Yep. Definitely Cyrus.

Aragorn the character was just a tad too good for my taste. Aragorn the actor needed a hair wash, and his politics and morals are majorly skewed.

Darcy runs a distant second, though Colonel Fitzwilliam runs neck and neck...both are too young for me.

I don't watch a lot of t.v., so can't comment on many of those.

The truth that we can see may not be all that appealing. But I am certain that the truth God has in store for us is going to be phenomenal. (And I don't think we'll have to wait until we get to heaven to see it either)
