I will fear no evil and Broyce are guys too.

So are driven by God, and mazarito, or whatever that name was.

He always reminded me of a premature, annoying brat.

I will say one thing for fictional romance novels. They accurately depict the type a man a woman would fall in love with in reality.

Even in Prince Caspian?

I was totally awed and hilariously amused by his scene in PC where he is meeting with the evil King.

hmmmm...not sure how to take this comment. In some ways you are right...some of the fellows we've talked about show great personal character as well as shallower qualities that add to their attractiveness. However, give me a real life, down-to-earth man of integrity any day.

I know. I once had one.

I'm wondering if Randy is referring to the same type of novels we've been talking about?

Could you clarify why you mean by "fictional romance novels", Randy? It would be hard to know whether to agree or disagree with your assessment if I'm thinking Jane Austen and you're thinking Danielle Steele.

Haha! I cracked up in Prince Caspian at that scene too, Shallbe! *giggle* It was that scene and the scene with the white witch that did it for me.

Danielle Steele's women are too perfect let alone her men.

And you want to talk about NICE male characters? Try some Lori Wick. Oy! I can't read her books without my teeth hurting.

I've never read Danielle Steele but that was the first name that came to mind. I never heard of Lori Wick...

Who was the big name in Harlequin romances at one time (or still is for all I know)? Barbara ????? I keep cringing when I think that's the type of thing Randy's referring to.

Years ago I stayed with my grandparents for a week. (I was about 12 or 13) During the day when they were at work, and I had read all the Field and Stream and Sports Afield magazines in the house I picked up one of my grandma's Harlequin romance books. Being a very fast reader I ended up reading a couple dozen of them over the next few days (Boredom makes us do horrendously terrible things)

As a result of that experience I've come to the understanding that I have read every single HR book ever written. Here's the plot: 1) Girl suffers some life changing tragedy or move. 2) Girl meets boy A. 3) Girl dislikes Boy A but finds him slightly attractive (in a scary sort of way). 4) Girl meets Boy B and they hit it off well. 5) Girl continues runnning into Boy A and he grows on her a little but stays scary. 6) Girl realizes that she doesn't really love boy B (even though they are engaged or something close) 7) some other tragedy or event happens and Boy A saves Girl. 8) Girl and Boy A get married and live happily (and lustfully) ever after.

The characters and story are all the same, they just change the cover art and the names and places.

I just started reading "Sophie's Heart" by Lori Wick. I've never read her before but am enjoying this book so far. It's too soon though for me to say if I think Alec would be the perfect mate.

Sophie's Heart is actually one of her better one's IMO. The setting is a bit realistic but I think Sophie is actually made too perfectly. Alec is too...mellow for me...LOL I need someone with a bit more passion.

I believe they can actually be generated by a computer program at this point.

Which reminds me of a hilarious program I saw almost 20 years ago on the Unix systems at college. It was called "spew" and generated random National Enquirer headlines. Always good for a laugh in the middle of a Comp Sci assignment.

That's hilarious. I once knew a woman (maybe there are many, but I have never met another) who loved those types of publications and believed every word in them. She read them religiously.

I personally partial to Willie from the "Love Comes Softly Series" by: Janette Oke (Seeing the movies only reassured me that I am positive he's perfect!! ) He is just so down to earth and sweet. I have always been one to like sweet guys over jocks in the personality department.
As I often quote my mom, "Looks aren't everything, but character is. Fall in love with the guy with the right character and God will make sure he's a guy you can fall in love with his looks too."
But, for fictional guys in my book, Willie takes the cake!(And the icing,sprinkles... )

Thank you, I thought the authors name was O'Mallery. LOL
I have seen these, they are not my usual genre, but I may give them a try.

Hey Guys, do you remember the lady characters in the books you read?

as likely as i am to remember the male characters ... i don't know that i think about dating them though ...

So how much do you remember the male characters?

as much as i remember the female characters ... i don't really think about dating them either ... but i have a good memory and read (and listen to) a lot of books ... i really don't know if i remember more or less than the average person ...

Even in Prince Caspian?

I was too distracted by the someone sitting next to me in the movie theater to notice his performance in Prince Caspian.

Non-specific, I just see a lot of qualities in these fictional characters that women (and men) would want in their "perfect" mate.

For example, the gallantry, romanticism, allurement in the ever-so perfect lad that every dame swoons over.
