Many felt Hickel bought himself a party since he lost the Republican primary. After all, the AIP nominees quietly stepped aside so Hickel & his Lt. Gov. candicate could step right in. Anyway, more on political parties in Alaska: Recognized parties. THese are the ones that do not have to file petitions to be on the ballot.
