It's not too bad...yet. But I haven't had to tell anyone my age.

Although I about jumped a counter at the store to hug the cashier when I was carded this weekend.

LOLOLOL - oh, you'll LOVE being older and people thinking you're a lot younger.....trust me on that one! You'll get to the point where you want to tell your age to folks - because they won't believe you.

Haha! Thanks, Mike! I know I look older than 18, but I don't think I quite look my age yet.

Hi Everyone!

I am coming on here to announce that I am happy. All summer I have wanted to get my storage room cleaned out. But between studying French, going to the GT and Kentucky, working, etc., I just never got to it.

But today it got done! GP3 helped me because she wants a new bedroom suite. Due to the fact that someone gave me a rather nice financial gift, I can afford one for her, but I didn't want to get rid of the bed she is using right now...visitors to my house are likely to increase over the next several years. So I told her I'd get her the new bedroom suite if she would 1) clean her room and 2) help me clean out a place in the storage room where we could set up the old bed in such a way that in a pinch it could be slept in.

So today we were able to accomplish that! w00t!!

Now I order the bedroom suite.

shallbe

Hey LOOK! It's a tropical conga-line!! (The good news is most of those may not develop and if they do, some won't affect land).

And look - even MORE have joined in.....from left to right: Hurricane Gustav, Hurricane Hanna, area of interest 2, area of interest 3, Tropical Storm Ike, area of interest 1.

Speaking of which, how's the weather holding out down there Tink? Since we can still see you, I'm guessing you haven't had to go scurrying for cover! (Still praying!)

It's gonna be a loooooong rest of the hurricane season! Fortunately, I'm prepared if we get hit. I hope and pray we don't, though.

Good thing I'm heading up north again! Seriously though, I'll be praying for everyone involved. Hard to imagine all the devastation though, having never even been close to experiencing anything like it.

I've not experienced much devastation at all! But I feel for those who have. The worst I've ever experienced was two separate weeks with no electricity and having to help clean up trees that fell and repair roof damage to homes. Sometimes I feel helpless when I see others at the disaster sites and I can't be there... so I signed up to be on call.

I don't think I've ever been without electricity for even a week. We've also had trees down, etc. as a result from winds and flooding from hurricanes but nothing close to whole towns being flooded. Helping with clean-up like that would definitely be an eye-opening experience.

Hi pellarider....welcome. Everything you're seeing dated today are really from today. This is just a casual chat thread....we chat about a whole lot of different things.

We're fine up here. The tornadoes have gone away (from what I can tell) and the sun came out earlier.

Destin and FWB had a lot of problems so keep them in your prayers. They had to close Okaloosa Island because Hwy 98 flooded. *sigh*

Nah but I'm sure he's fine if he stayed here in our town. We live in the same town and nothing much has happened up here.

Thing 2 is so cute. I was putting laundry away when I noticed a small pile of stuffed animals in the hallway. I asked him what they were for and he said they were there in case we had to hide in the hallway from the tornadoes. He didn't want to have to worry about running around and grabbing them so they were there, ready.

Then when I tucked him in, he had the afore mentioned animals in bed with him and showed me Hope, his praying beanie baby and said, "I picked her to sleep with me because she'll pray for me when I fall asleep."

I have had many people that weren't even selling alcohol think I was about 25, so that wasn't the deal when I got carded.
