quote:
I screamed when I had meningitis, and I cried rather uncontrollably when I had a kidney infection last spring. I will never fault a child for crying from pain. This is something we are still trying to teach our seven year old. He is a super emotional kid and would/does cry at everything and anything. We are really working hard on teaching him when it is appropriate to cry, and where to cry. My daughter was one who was the tantrum thrower. Wozers! Could she throw them. She is a solidly built girl who knew how to throw her weight around. I've literally drug her out of Target (I'm one who will remove a tantrum child to save everyone from hearing it) while trying to get her older brother to follow us to the van. There were many times where she would hit the point of no return. She'd get hot and clammy, pupils dilated, and non-verbal screaming. Thankfully that never happened in public, but when it did, the only thing I could do was restrain her (wrap my arms around her and hold her close) and ride out the storm. Many times now when Ryan and I are walking through Wal-mart (and yes we are one of those Friday night family times at the store people ) and we hear a kid throwing a tantrum or is crying we look at each other and respond simultaneously, "Oh boy" because we have so btdt that for us someone else's child does not bother us.
