Thanks - I did finally get confirmation from the collection company that they would request the debt be deleted from my report.

Hope this situation "enlightens" others that may find themselves in a similar fix.

I haven't had his bills hit my credit ever, but I have gotten calls from collectors on medical bills for my son that he never paid. I just gave them his cell phone, his home phone, work phone, wife's cell phone and any other phone number related to him that I had. That seemed to do the trick. He was not happy with me and even told me I had no right to do that, but I told him to quit having collectors call me.

It is good that they did settle with you and are DELETING the bill from your credit. Keep that letter and make sure they delete it from the three major companies. You don't want it to show paid in full because that still affects your credit.

Absolutely...and I intend to provide copies of the letter myself to the 3 agencies as an extra step.
