If a friend of yours is in a relationship and she be a female, is it okay to compliment her - like in her blog, tell her she is someone you look up to and admire greatly (using other words that aren't so cliche).

-Saying I think you're hot is a no no regardless of how attractive you think she is, lol.
-Treat her like you would treat your grandma is a good way to go, but then, there's a lot of men who flirts with little old ladies, so, chose your words carefully.
-Make sure you know her well enough and know how she'll perceive your compliments before dishing them out.
You gotta choose your words carefully....because even the most well meaning compliments can be taken the wrong way...

If they are conjoined it's never a good idea to compliment one without complimenting the other.
If they are married or engaged then a single guy really shouldn't compliment them in any way that could be taken as a flirt. (and almost anything can apparently be taken as a flirt). Of course this is a somewhat unrealistic ideal so just keep it clean and not too personal.

i would tend to agree.
I guess I'm sort of curious to know what your purpose or reasoning is in complimenting her. I would stay away from compliments on her physical appearance all together personally.
Edit: you should also consider how the compliment may affect her. It may make her completely uncomfortable.

I have to agree with that, if she is attached or not! I don't let my guy friends call me that, even though I am not attached at the moment. (I just don't like being called that.) One of my guy friends puts it like this- "Any girl can be called HOT if she's dressed immodestly, it takes a real woman of God to be truly BEAUTIFUL!" So, no, complimenting an attached woman in my book is not cool, unless you're going to compliment the guy she's attached to also!LOL!!!!

It's hard to talk to JC247 on overly warm days. "Hey JC247, can I get you a drink? You look hot." 
And doctors don't get to talk to her often either. "I think you're hot, we need to take your temperature"

I have yet to see that overwhelming humility... and no that was not a challenge! Although, I do love to give someone a good challenge... We better quit though or we're going to get in trouble for getting "off subject"! LOL! I've already been in trouble for that once today...LOL!

I don't flirt. And I have leisure suits older that JC247 (Although I'm sure she's a wonderful young lady)
Oh, yes! I am a perfectly wonderful young lady...just don't ask my guy friends about it, they'll beg to differ! (Okay, so I like to do guy stuff, goodness! They're just jealous because I can throw the football better than them...in my head!) And seriously, I don't flirt, because...I CAN'T!!!(Trust me, if I could, I would flirt with Singing Boy all the time...JK!!!!)

I took the complimenting thing to mean something else. As in saying "you are a very strong woman in God and I appreciate that" not "you are lovely".
