can you do this for the "second" chat thread too? it seems people love chatting in the tonite thread with asking follow up questions and it's designed for / used by non-singles mostly. or maybe something besides tonite.

Lisa I have a question..........why is it the chat thread used by most the singles in singles and the game thread changed yet the computers101/ABC Reunion thread remains the same? It seems to me, since we are limited to only two chat threads, and recently you have had to remind people in other threads that those threads are not chat threads, it would make sense to begin utilizing both of our chat threads in a way which best serves the single community.
Scrolling back through the past two months it is clear the computers101/ABC thread is not representative of the singles who post in singles on a regular bases. Most the names I do not recognize and those I do such as diane and mike would still post if the thread was changed and used more by the singles who post in singles.
I guess we could just start chatting in the thread as well but since it seems more like a pfy thread then an open chat for singles I think some of us would feel like we are intruding.....plus even though a chat thread why does one change each month and the other does not?

Hmmmm Lisa.......sorry my post was so late.........
So which would you recommend........we ask Fritz to consider making a change or should we just begin posting in the thread since it is a chat thread in singles?

It was a decision made before I came on board - I do not know about the ABC thread. Di is the one who can answer questions about it.

Joy, I can't answer for Diane, but for someone who's been in the Singles forum here for years, I can shed a little light on the subject.
The ABC/Computer thread was not intended to be a chat thread. Summing up, it was a place for people to come in and "share what's going on in their lives" thread, instead of the minute by minute banter that goes on in a chat thread. That way it was easier to keep up with everyone instead of having to sift through posts.
But, like you said, the "regular singles posters" don't post in there, partly because they came in after that thread was created so they probably do not know the idea of what's going on in there.
It would be nice to have liberty to be "chatty" in a non-chat thread. Sometimes conversations get carried away as a spin off of the subject, and being corrected around every bend kinda kills the fun. Yeah the "issues threads" are great, but our singleness (and the issues that come with it) do not define us. We're fun people!!

Tina thank you for the explanation.........so was the thread created before there were pfy's or did they want a place in singles for people to just share what is going on in their lives?
Most the people posting are no longer single correct ?(see there is hope for the rest of us LOL)
Maybe we could change the name to better reflect it's purpose as well as encourage more singles to post in the thread............it would be nice to have a thread where we could just share what is happening on the day to day bases in our lives......
I love what Shallbe wrote when the "what are YOU doing tonight" thread first started........

I think quite a few of us agreed with her.........it is nice, as singles, to have someplace to share the little and big things happening in our lives.........to share glimpses of our lives with each other.
We could continue to use the "What are YOU doing tonight" thread but such a thread, one which is there for us to share our daily lives, should really be a chat thread. It defeats the purpose of sharing if you can not talk back and forth about what was shared...........make sense?

maybe it's not a chat thread and we really only have one chat thread currently and there's no controversy as we still have a slot open lol ...
