Actually, it DOES get closed/started most months. Di does it. There have been a few times she's not, but it normally does get closed/started anew each month.
ETA - before anyone goes jumping down my throat - I just checked and it's not been done since April. And Tricia did that one.
As I said before - take it up with Fritz.

Interesting discussion about chat threads. I had no idea that there were so many rules surrounding this. I wonder why? If we have a lot of chat threads will it take us off topic too much - or would it discourage us from using the chat room?
Here's a suggestion for a game thread - since it involves knowing each other. Perhaps we could do something that is similar to 5 questions thread that is in the games folder. But, maybe we can just make it three questions instead to save time. You post three questions - it could be anything from "Have you ever owned a dog?" to "What did you want to grow up to be when you were little?" Then the next person answers and posts three questions of their own.
Or perhaps a Way, No Way thread - where you post something like "Would try eating camel meat" and the next person could answer with Way (yes) or No Way (no).
Another suggestion would be that we write a story - one line at a time.

Okay, folks, this is the "reason" that the ABC thread exists. It IS one of the official CHAT threads - and will remain so for the forseeable future. So, this is the OFFICIAL notice that further discussion of this topic will be subject to post removal and reporting.
The ABC thread exists because some of the "old timers" come back and need a place to chat. And no, the posters are not all married - some of the posters in there have been on the forums - and single - since the late 90's. They don't go into other threads in the singles area because they're not on often enough to get to know a bunch of new people. And the ABC thread is slower than a lot of the other chat threads, so people's posts don't get lost in a lot of one-liners and so forth that happens all too often - all over the place!
Think of it a lot like, well, a reunion thread. Somee may complain that there are marrieds posted in it. But, it's a reunion chat thread - like how high school reunions bring together people from the past but aren't currently students, so this thread brings together former (and current) singles' forums participants. It's in the Singles forum as opposed to, say, community lounge because that is where the former singles forums members will look for it.
And while some have said that it should be in PFY - since it's more of that type of thread - this is not possible, as it's not directed towards any one individual.
Therefore - NO further discussion is to take place in the community on this topic. As Cynthia said - all comments should go to Fritz.
BTW - I got a GREAT suggestion for the game for next month, and thus, this thread is closed.
