The first book I ever cried during was "Where the Red Fern Grows". I think I cried at least every Harry Potter book for some reason or another, especially when Cedric, Dobby and Dumbledore died.

I cry during almost every Nicholas Sparks book too.

I just listened to Robert Munsch read "Love You Forever", you just can't help but cry!

I used to cry all the time when reading my differential equations book. (But maybe that's not the type of crying you meant)

I have cried at almost every book by Karen Kingsbury, especially One Tuesday Morning.

The Atonement Child by Francine Rivers is a tear jerker too!

I cried in Order of the Phoenix when Sirius died, and when Harry trashed Dumbledore's office.

I didn't cry in Deathly Hallows until he realised he was going to die...from then on I bawled.

Where the Red Fern Grows...total squawler...still to this day. I tried to get Thing 1 to read it but after hearing how me and his teacher bawl when reading it he very quickly vetoed it.

Recently when I read Eclipse (part of the Twilight series) and Jacob got his heart broken.

Animal Farm...LOL Still chokes me up even though it's not really a book but more of a story.

Oh fooey...what's that book called where the boys get stranded on the island and they end up forming their own government and killed one of the other boys? It's right on the tip of my fingers....Lord of the Flies!!! That's it!!! I cry during that one too.

Old Yeller...very sad.

Oh! Rats of Nimh! I loooved that series and BAWLED when Justin died.

There were a bunch of teen-y stories that made me cry when I was growing up but I can't remember the names.

I've cried once reading a book. It was either "It Happened to Nancy" or "Go Ask Alice." I can't remember which one it was, now.

I cry reading books and watching TV all the time...

Most recently I cried while reading the last Karen Kingsbury book about the Baxter family; Sunset. All of her books make me cry!

The only time I ever came close was during the last book of Stephen King's Dark Tower epic. But not at a place I'd imagine most people would cry...

so many books have titles that are so dark sounding i stay away from those titles because those titles pretty much tell what the book is about and besides i want to read a book that is going to "bless" me not make me have nightmares for the rest of my life.

I'm not much of a crier. I am pretty surprised when a book brings me to tears. The one I remember most was Jane Austin's "Northanger Abbey".

Two books come to mind. 1) A Severe Mercy by Sheldon Vanauken. 2) Holiness of God by RC Sproul The former because it was a tear jerker and the latter was due to conviction. Vanauken was interesting in that he was friends (?) with CS Lewis and letters from the same to the author is included in the book.

I always cry in that part of The Godfather where Virgil Sollozzo sends Luca Brasi to 'sleep with the fishes'; poor Luca.

jk

Actually, I don't remember crying all that much while reading a book myself; I have choked up a number of times while reading to my kids - in various parts of the Chronicles of Narnia, A Pilgrims Progress, Watership Down, Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows, and A Wrinkle in Time.

Better question is what book hasn't moved me in some way. I agree with stellaluna and artemis, anyone seeing me reading Deathly Hallows would have thought me on the verge of a total complete emotional breakdown. I seemed unstable the three days I was reading that book, laughing, crying, yelling, acting a complete fool, sometimes it almost seemed all at the same time. LOL

yes reading certain books will make you how the book is, trash in trash out, that is why i love to watch the love's books and my love's movies and my new movie saving sarah cain. as believers we must be so careful what we watch and listen to, in fact we just recently got cable and in fact last nite hubby and i went thru and blocked so many channels we had to get rid of sky angel because of the service was not good at all, they would not take care of the customer service and we would call them and they would not take care of anything. so we got rid of the what was making our walk with God not good, so........we are in control of our tv and we only watch what is pleasing to God.

I used to cry all the time when reading! Now, I'm on meds to "control" my emotions and rarely cry. BUT, when reading The Assassins last night with my dd, we both cried! And this is my third time reading through the series!
