Gerald, and anyone else who is near or ever ends up visiting even in the Albuquerque area:

There are two places I recommend for good "grunge" burgers, you know where you need to eat fiber and veggies for every meal the next day to maintain some semblance of healthy fat to protein levels.

One is Tommy's Burgers, the original stand in downtown LA; I recommend getting it with the whole pepper on it.

Second is Griff's Drive In in Albuquerque. They called it the Monster Green Chile Cheeseburger. My wife and I could have split one but we rarely did. I think we should have but it's hard to beat.

Once every 6 months is about a good range for dietary sanity.

Scarpa's makes a really good wood fired pizza and they have of course green chile options.

I may need to set up some shipping terms with all y'alls there in NM, between you and didymus101; frozen fire roasted Hatch green chile on dry ice? hoo hoo

Dinner tonight was Pasta Bowties, stewed Tomatoes, chili beans, buttered young sweet peas with a drizzle of sweet Walla Walla onion dressing.

I had about 3 Tbsp of dry red pepper seeds in mine and some habanero hot sauce. But that's me, a normal eater. My wife does not like putting all that hot stuff on anymore. Oh well, I married her for better or worse.

I tried Bob's over on Coors near the Petroglyphs (kind of sort of maybe but not quite near them). I never tried the Owl Cafe outside of the Socorro area but I've heard they do a great job. That might make a nice trip, go to Owl Cafe (not in Albuquerque but outside of Socorro) then do the dish array and stop to see if you hear any alien communication, then go through Pie Town (do not eat at what they say is the original though because they changed the recipes). My wife and I then liked to run up towards Gallup and cut back to Albuquerque from there. It is a nice weekend trip.

Yes if I ever moved I would miss the chili for sure. Did you ever try Bobs burgers on central when you lived out here?
Have not been to cc pizza in a long time but alfredo pizza sounds good.
Fried fish for dinner.......Long Johns............

I made Margarita Scallops. Got the recipe from the recipezaar and the lime was a bit much. And I love lime! Has anyone ever made them? Do you have any recommendations for improvement? I don't want to add more sugar. But a cup of fresh lime juice was just over the top limey.

Anyway we had Margarita Scallops over spaghetti and sugarsnap peas. We did not suffer.

Just add less lime. If you need the full amount of liquid, but not so strong, then add water in place of lime juice. Say you want half the lime flavor, add half water and half lime.

We are having bowtie pasta with burger, corn and pasta sauce; birthday cake from yesterday and some jalapeno pepper poppers picked up at 1/2 price at the local deli.

I'd think a neat twist would be adding key lime juice.

It's just a little distinct enough.

I may try that with pork or chicken, my wife is allergic to fish.

Thanks. I thought I'd cut the lime in half but wondered if water was the appropriate substitute. It also has a half cup of lemon juice so perhaps a bit more of the lemon and the rest water? Or perhaps drink more tequila before and we won't notice the lime. JK

Okay, I'd start with the tequila. After that, you could try 1/3 lemon juice, 1/3 lime juice and 1/3 water. That should do it.

We had relatives over for a mid-day meal and served chicken over rice with broccoli.

I roasted some chicken breasts for lunch (slathered in pesto). Sliced the chicken for salads with spinach & assorted greens, capers, kalamata olives, grape tomatoes, smoked provolone, and tuscany italian dressing. I have a friend for lunch each Monday. (And another friend for lunch each Wednesday.) No, I don't devour my friends. I make and serve them lunch and then we share around Jesus and pray together.

Tonight I run off to sing so will steam some asparagus, bake sweet potatoes and have the remaining chicken breasts for my hubby & me.
