Romans 5:3-4 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. Isaiah 31:1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, but who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the LORD! I slept really well last night with only funny dreams. I woke just before 7:00 but my only daycare child was very late. She got here at 8:20. Since I was expecting her any minute, I waited to shower. I’d had my breakfast and two cups of coffee by then. I need new jeans! My size 12 jeans are quite baggy and I only have one (raggedy, shabby) pair of size 10’s. They fit very well. I’m thrilled! I still have one good pair of size 8’s that I’m hoping to be in one day soon. ~~~ We’re back from walking. Jim went with me. We ran by Wal-Mart and bought me two pair of jeans. They’re on sale for $9.82 and they had 10 petites. The library had gotten in Jim’s copy of his literature text book and “Dr. Faustus”. All we’re lacking is ‘Emma’ by Jane Austen. I ran in and got those before we picked up the couple from church who don’t have any car. We walked two miles in 30 minutes tonight. I’ve walked three nights in a row and 2 miles was enough for me. We’re going to try and do either Saturday or Sunday. Heavy rains are moving in. It’s also a big colder, too. There’s a chance of icing tomorrow morning. Well, there’s a couple of good shows on tonight and I’m thinking about snacks. Better find something else to occupy my mind! Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Ephesians 2:21 "In whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord." Ephesians 1:22-23 "And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all." Ephesians 4:14-16 "As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love." 2 Timothy 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God -- having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. Galatians 6:9 "Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not grow weary." Did you miss me? We did our taxes yesterday. It was painless and took very little time. We should have our federal refund by Feb. 15th. We have to be up extra early tomorrow so we can have the Youth Breakfast ready by 8:40ish. Sunday School starts at 9:00. I REALLY dislike the earlier time, but only because it’s hard for me to start lunch, shower, dress and fru fru up my hair by 8:25. Getting out of church by 11:15 or so doesn’t matter to me because we eat at home and not at a restaurant. Tomorrow we’ll be going to our son and dil’s house for a Super Bowl Party. We went out and got 15 lbs of wings for Buffalo Wings. We also got some boneless chicken breasts. I’ll make up one boneless breast for me because chicken wings, with skin, have 100 calories each. A whole boneless breast can have as little as 140 calories. We also got veggies and a no fat/ low calorie dressing for the dip. I want to have fun, enjoy eating yet not blow my diet. I’m going to take some tea bags and maybe 2 Pepsis, if I’ve been able to not drink any earlier in the day. I’m trying to plan ahead so I’ll have no reason to feel cheated and eat what I shouldn’t. Dieting is hard work and no fun. It’s quite lovely here today. The sun is out and we have only a few white clouds in the sky. It’s in the low 50°’s and supposed to be even warmer tomorrow. Rain is going to move in late tomorrow night. Jim got his term paper back today. He got a 4.0. I’m impressed. He’s a very bright man! His next courses are Literature I and II, Foundations of Teaching: Schools and Society and Human Development and Learning. We have a number of books to list on the internet to sell. Thankfully, we buy and sell and check out a number of his required reading books at the library to keep cost down. We didn’t walk today. We did go out, tho. We got the chicken for tomorrow, stopped by Burger King where I ate a grilled chicken sandwich without mayo and after removing the bread. I ate the lettuce and tomato as a salad and the chicken breast with no sauce. We ran by Home Depot and returned a light we’d bought yesterday. We thought our motion sensor light off the side of the garage had broken, but it had been turned off on the light itself. I fooled with it before Jim began to replace it and it came on. He set it for me today. I also got a haircut today. I’m letting my hair grow out and the sides were much shorter than the rest. I’ve had my hair trimmed three times now, and the sides blend with the back even though they aren’t quite as long. The beautician did a really nice job of cutting the back at an angle so it gradually matches the sides. The shortest hair touches my shoulders. It flips up nicely with just a bit of the curling iron. I wish I’d let it grow out years ago. I’m going to head to bed early tonight. I’m tired and we have to be up early tomorrow. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Proverbs 4:25-26 "Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established." Psalm 28:8 The Lord is the strength of His people, a fortress of salvation for His anointed one. quote:
Focus on the Family founder James Dobson remains adamant that he will not support McCain’s bid for the White House. Dobson, one of the nation’s most influential evangelical Christians, declared more than a year ago that he would not support McCain under any circumstances, saying McCain didn't support traditional marriage values. A Dobson spokesman told the New York Times’ David Kirkpatrick Wednesday that he stood by that position, and as a matter of conscience could never vote for the Arizona Senator. Tomorrow is Super Tuesday in many states. Don’t forget to vote! We went to Jon and Mary’s house for a Super Bowl Party last night and had lots of fun. The game was a good one, even managing to keep my attention in the last quarter, so that was nice. We had Buffalo Wings, veggies and dip, apples and caramel dip, cheeses, Chex mix and more. I did take a boneless chicken breast for me. I’d cooked it and sliced it so it was easy to eat. Church is now out by 11:15, so Jim and I went for a two-mile walk at the mall in the next town yesterday afternoon. It wasn't crowded at all, so we were able to walk at quite a fast pace. We didn’t do any stairs, but still got quite a workout. My day was off to a very slow start. I was awake at 7:00 and the phone rang just a minute or so after that. Mom number 1 said they’d be here by 8:00. They’re usually here by 7:15. I walked the dog and got things set up for the second child, who is much younger. At 8:00, Mom number 2 called to say Daddy was not working today. Monday is his day off, but he takes overtime when it’s offered. Mom and child number 1 arrived at 8:30. I got her settled down and was just about to take a shower when our daughter called from Connecticut. We talked until 10:00. She had off last night and was well rested. She works 11:00 p.m. til around 7:00 a.m. for a company that cleans large buildings. By time I showered, started laundry and emptied the dishwasher, it was time for Hailee’s nap. I haven’t talked to my mother since Saturday. She left Sunday morning while we were at church for Birmingham. She’s have a second elective surgery on her sinuses and mouth. They have to remove a mesh they put in place under a bone graft. She’s 75. I would never have this done. I can’t imagine being miserable for almost a year, by choice. OUCH. I doubt she’ll be able to talk today. My aunt or uncle may call to say how she did. ** The call just came and my mother is doing okay. She’ll stay overnight in the hotel by the hospital just in case. She can’t speak. She had a black eye from the surgery, had an icepack on her face, gauze in her mouth, and was on painkillers. Baseball try-outs begin tomorrow. Today is the last day for a while that Jim will be home right after 3:30. Jim painted his batting helmet black. He wanted it to match his team shirt and hat. The school colors are black and gold. His helmet was blue. The paint took really well. He had gray baseball pants already. The team is going to play double headers every Saturday. That’ll be fun. I’ll go and enjoy the sun. My weight loss seems a bit stalled. I’m not happy about that. I’m determined, tho, and have added some weights and a bit of time on my personal trampoline today. I sure hope that helps. I can’t cut my calories any more. I have not been praying about weight loss, thinking I got this way by eating snacks late at night and I need to ‘do this myself’. Maybe I’m wrong. “My heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor. Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve, everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 2:10a-11 More spam email from McCain. What part of remove me do they not understand? Ach! Spoke too soon. Now I’m getting loads of phone calls from McCain and Romney. They were not very nice when I told them I’m voting Huckabee! Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia

Psalms 51:10-12 "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit." Matthew 11:28-29 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." We’re safe and sound here in Georgia. We were under a tornado watch from 5:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. and did have some very severe storms, but no tornado was spotted. I only had one daycare child today, so I kept the car. I had some cards to mail and survey checks to deposit. I also needed a pair of new jeans hemmed. I’d gotten a pair of black jeans when I got the others and they only came in boot cut. They’re two inches too long, even with boots on. My machine chokes on doubled over jean material, so I took them to the cleaners. They’ll be ready by 4:00 tomorrow. By keeping the car, I can get Nick to youth group on time and then pick up Jim from baseball practice. I do hope the father of the one daycare child is here before I leave. I never know when he’ll arrive. I’ll leave a note on the door if he’s not. I went walking last night. I was a bit late picking up the woman without a car because we went to vote (for Mike Huckabee) after Jim got home from baseball practice. There wasn’t a line, but Jim was later than expected and I had to bring him back home before heading off several miles past church to get her. We walked two miles, tho. I was really sweating by time we finished. Church was too hot. I’m happy to say my weight loss is not stalled anymore. I’m increasing my exercise instead of lowering my caloric intake. Doing daycare cuts into my ability to walk or attend the exercise classes offered through the hospital or at our church. I have to be creative! I’ll get a Hula Hoop as soon as they’re in the stores. That’s great for reducing your waistline and I’m really good at it. I spoke with my mother today. She sounds horrible. Just hearing what was done and what she’s going through makes me feel ill. She said if she could do it over, she’d not have this surgery. ICK! She felt well enough to try to argue politics. Have you heard the term ‘Suicide Voter’? Republicans who will not support McCain are vowing to vote for the Democrat presented if McCain is on the ballot in November. Well, I’m going to write in Mike Huckabee. I want the Republican party to KNOW why they lost MY vote! It’s not because I think the Democrat is a better candidate, but that the Republican party fails to present and choose candidates I can support. If that’s suicide, so be it! I’m ultra conservative and proud of it. We did our taxes using Turbo Tax online and should have our state money in the next day or so. Our federal money should be in our bank account by Friday the 15th. It’s so easy to use Turbo Tax! After the storms rolled away, the sun came out and it got quite warm. I’ve had my back door opened all day. It’s lovely. It’ll drop off cooler again tomorrow but I’ve enjoyed today’s mid 60°’s. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia Conservative Christians Let your voice be heard! Send a message to the Republican Party! Write in Mike Huckabee for President!

Ecclesiastes 3:11 - He hath made everything beautiful in his time: also he has set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. Proverbs 2:11 "Discretion will guard you, understanding will watch over you." Hello again, I just got in from walking. Jim and Nick went along and played pool in the youth room while I walked with my friends. One of the women had to drop out after 1 ½ miles. She had a pain in her back. One had to leave a little early for a meeting. I finished one last lap for 2 ½ miles. My pedometer has stopped working but we’d clocked it earlier and know a lap around the top and bottom levels is ¼ th mile. I’ll get a new pedometer tomorrow. It’s 12 days until we are weighed again. I’d like to have lost at least 10 pounds by then. That will be five weeks. Two pounds a week is a healthy weight loss. With all the new exercise and healthy diet with no snacking, I hope I can do it. Oh, I do eat a couple of gum drops once in a while or a few pretzels. Those aren’t bad. I still haven’t given up Pepsi. I just can’t do it. Before going to walk, we stopped by the cleaners to pick up some shirts and my new and newly hemmed black jeans, size 10, thank you very much! We take Jim’s shirts to be washed, starched and ironed. He likes his shirts quite stiff and they do them for 99 cents each. Occasionally they have a 49-cent special! After walking, we went to buy groceries. We were out of fruit except for two apples. There wasn’t many people in the store, so we got finished pretty quickly. I have to scan everything we buy for AC Nielsen so that takes a little while once we’re back home. Nick will put away everything but any canned goods. I’m a stickler for ‘everything in it’s place’ and putting like things together so we don’t buy something we don’t need. I used my mini-trampoline today. I had looked up how many calories you can burn and saw how to use it to get the most benefit. Whew! It’s hard work! Bouncing on the mini trampoline for 25- 35 minutes burns the same amount of calories you’d burn jogging for an hour! I could only do 10 minutes at a time. It’s hard work! I got a ‘Lil Crock Pot’ by UPS today for doing a survey. It’s small and cute. It’s for dips and small servings. It holds 16 ounces. I’ve got a good bit of money coming in the mail. I’d not gotten much since before Christmas, but could have taken an interactive survey that pays $30.00 tonight. It lasted 1 ½ hours and they wanted to load something onto my computer that Microsoft Security wouldn’t allow. I wouldn’t disable my security. No sense taking a chance. I’m sleepy tonight. I got a lot done today. I seem to have a lot more energy since I started exercising. I really miss it the nights we don’t walk. Think I’ll watch CSI and some other shows. Have a lovely evening and God Bless, Diane Tavegia Conservative Christians, Let your voice be heard! Send a message to the Republican Party! Write in Mike Huckabee for President!

Phil. 4:8 "Finally brethren, whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things." Isaiah 55:6-9 - Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. And let him return to the lord. And he will have compassion on Him. And our God will abundantly pardon. For many thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth. And my thoughts your thoughts. Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Matthew 11:28-29 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" Are you happy the weekend is here? I am! We’re going to try and sleep in a bit tomorrow. We were up earlier than usual today because Jim had to take a dessert to school. Each month a group of teachers bring foods for the day. This was the day chosen for Jim’s group. He wanted to make his offering and so made a Cherry Cobbler. I got up at 6:20 to pre-heat the oven. We had everything set out. He left here at 7:30 with a hot cobbler to share. He called during early lunch to say his cobbler was all gone before 10:00! He didn’t get any. I’ll make a Blueberry Cobbler for supper. I had scheduled an early appointment with the dermatopatholigist for Jim this next Wednesday afternoon. He was supposed to see her end of March. I keep an eye on his skin and while hugging him, I had felt a new and large mole on his upper back. It’s right next to where she’d removed his more serious melanomas. It’s raised, rough and about the size of a baby Lima Bean. While checking that out, I noticed a new tar black spot in the middle of his back. It’s like the Black Nevi removed from his waistline months ago. It’s about the same size, too, like a dot from a Sharpie marker. There’s four or five spots that have me concerned. Mention his name in your prayers, if you would. It’s just gorgeous out today! It’s a bit cool, but I walked the dog without wearing a sweater and was quite comfortable. Scooter enjoys his walks. He would like them to last longer. The pads of his feet are badly cracked. I think our rocky back yard is to blame. He won’t ‘poo’ while on the leash. He goes to the back door when he needs to do that and the front steps when he needs to ‘pee’. He’s such a good dog. I’ve been trying to find a local exercise class I can afford. Jazzercise is held in the next town, but too early in the evening for me to get there. The cost is quite high, too. I took Jazzercise for a few years in the early 1990’s. I had to quit when I was mauled by a dog and couldn’t use my leg for a very long time. I was walking six miles a day at the time. I’d walk 2 miles when I first woke, 2 at lunch and then 2 after supper but with Jim. I loved it! I’d love to be able to take Jazzercise again. Jim’s having batting practice this afternoon for the boys they’ve chosen for the team. They had 15 slots and chose 14 boys. They couldn’t decide between two really small boys with talent and great attitudes so Jim suggested they order another uniform and keep them both. This has been a very long day. I sure would have enjoyed a nap! Today I had oatmeal with sliced apples and coffee for breakfast. Mid morning, I had a banana. For lunch, I had a huge green salad with broken pretzels on top instead of croutons. In the late afternoon, I had a pear. For dinner, we’re having a roast with new potatoes and carrots. I cooked it in the slow cooker. If I want, I have angel food cake, other fruits and low fat Cool Whip for dessert. I am out of vitamins, but did take two Cinnamon capsules. I also need another pedometer. Everyone should walk at least 10,000 steps a day. I was shocked when I first got mine at how little I walked! I also want a Hula Hoop. I’m sure they’ll be ‘in’ soon. ** Supper’s over and our cobbler is cooling. We went to pick up lottery tickets for the Mega Millions and went to Wal-Mart for dog biscuits, kitty cat treats, my pedometer and a Hula Hoop. We found everything including a $2.38 Hula Hoop. Time for some cobbler. Enjoy your evening and have a lovely Saturday! Diane Tavegia Conservative Christians, Let your voice be heard! Send a message to the Republican Party! Romans 8:16-18 "The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us." 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind". Did you have a nice Saturday? We did. We went to bed early last night and slept in until 8:00. Scooter was up and needing to go out so I got up then and stayed up. Nick needed a haircut so we took him down to the barber we’ve used since the first week we moved here over 9 ½ years ago. There was a bit of a line so we went and paid the electric bill and then went back. After the haircut, we brought Nick back home and Jim and I went to the dump and then to Douglasville. We’d lost track of time and were quite hungry so we stopped at Burger King for lunch. I had a Tendergrill chicken sandwich. I removed the bread and ate only the grilled chicken breast with no mayo. No French Fries thank you very much. We walked a mile at the mall today, but there was such a crowd that it was a lot of aggravation and a bit slow. We’ll walk again tomorrow, but maybe at City Park or a walking trail at the hospital, if the weather stays this nice. We got our State Income Tax Refund overnight. Our ‘acceptance’ date was Feb. 4th so getting it by late night Feb. 8th was great! I expect to get our Federal money this coming Friday. They release money only on Fridays, according to TurboTax. I tried using my Hula Hoop today. I’ve always been really good at the Hula Hoop. Uh. Well. Not anymore! I did get it to rotate for about 10 seconds. I’m not sure if it’s my plump belly or lack of practice. I’m going to keep working at it tho. Oh! I measured this afternoon and I’ve lost 2 inches in my waist and 1 inch in my hips. Jim says I look great. I really want to be down 10 lbs by our weigh in, but that’s a week from this coming Tuesday and I’m still a few pounds above that. I’ll post when I hit the 10 lb mark. It’s going to take a bit of getting used to having to be at Sunday School by 8:20. I have laid out my Bible and lesson, hair dryer and curling irons and have chosen what I’m wearing tomorrow. I have the coffee ready to start, too. We’re going to bed early again tonight. I talked to my mother for a while today. She’s doing well. No pain. I cannot imagine having surgery by choice. I’ve never had surgery other than cataracts and cutting away of necrotic tissue (five times) after being mauled by a dog. I was awake for those 5 procedures, tho. Well, it’s 7:30 and Jim’s taking a pre assessment test for a course he is scheduled to take next term. Nick is playing ‘Heroes of the Pacific’ on his PS2 online. Scooter is growling in his sleep. Patches is on the ottoman and slaps the dog in the head every few minutes. All is well in our home. Hope all is well for you, too. Diane Tavegia Conservative Christians, Let your voice be heard! Luke 22:26-27 "But this is not to be so with you; on the contrary, let him who is the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who is the chief and leader like one who serves. For who is the greater, the one who reclines at table (the master), or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am in your midst as One Who serves." 1 Timothy 2:1-6 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone -- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and human beings, Christ Jesus, himself human, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. Did you have a great day in the Lord’s House today? Our youth Sunday School lesson was on repentance. Our video began with a testimony from a man who worked for MTV and Nickelodeon before coming to Christ. The room was silent while he spoke. We had a great sermon and wonderful music. We sang a lot of old hymns and a couple of newer songs. After the sermon, our altar was full! My preplanning for Sunday morning worked well. I’d set out my oatmeal, prepped for our coffee, had out my hair dryer and new curling iron. I was ready to leave for church early. My new curling iron heats instantly and has 30 heat settings. I was able to curl my hair well in a very short amount of time. I like not having to rush. Our turnout was low for the youth Sunday School. We also had some teachers out because of illness or having to rush out of town to be with an elderly parent in the hospital. We moved some teachers around and all was well. Jim and I were both hungry for something different. Nick wanted to come home so we dropped him off and went to the Mexican restaurant not far from home. It’s cheap and tasty. I had a small Nacho Supreme and ate every bite. I’ve felt HUGE all day now. I did eat a banana mid afternoon and had an apple and peanut butter for supper. I took a nap today for about 1 ½ hours. I woke because I heard Scooter whine. He needed to go out. Jim was downstairs taking a test for school, which he passed, and Nick had on his headset, playing a PS2 game online. I only have one daycare child on Monday. She’ll be tired from a busy weekend. I hope I can get a lot done. I have a few things to do this week, including a family portrait for our church directory. That’s Saturday afternoon. Think I can get a face-lift and lose 20 pounds by Saturday afternoon? That’s what I thought. Jim and I went to bed at 9:30 last night and both fell asleep quickly. That’s two nights in a row. Before, we’d sit up and watch reruns til 11:00 or later. We don’t like those ‘Grammy’ type shows so we’ll find something else and be in bed early again tonight. Have a great evening and a good Monday. Please remember to whisper a prayer for my husband and his new ‘moles’. Thanks and God Bless! Hab 2:14 "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. Job 12:22 "He reveals mysteries from the darkness and brings the deep darkness into light." I don’t like Monday! I never have. It seems the weekend just goes too quickly. I’m going to be creative tonight, making a low fat Shepherd’s Pie. I’d considered a vegetarian option, but Jim wasn’t excited about that. I’ve seen it made with Sweet Potatoes on top but I don’t have any in the house. I hope it’s good. Speaking of food, I have 8 days until our weigh in. I’d hoped to lose a total of 10 or more pounds by then. I really don’t think it’s going to happen. I’ve lost 2 pounds a week for three weeks and then leveled off. I don’t think I can manage to lose four more pounds in 8 days. We’ll see. Exercise: Hmmm, My walking is not going to be enough. Because I weigh less than the women I walk with, I burn fewer calories than they do, meaning I need to walk LONGER. A 140 lb woman, walking 4 mph burns about 190 calories in 30 minutes. I think I’ll try to follow up our speed walking with 30 minutes of a slightly slower pace, if necessary. Did you see the study that says Sugar Substitutes cause weight gain and mess up your metabolism? I’ve always avoided any ‘fake’ sugars and never allowed my children to have any either. Beware! Psalm 31: 19 "How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you." I’m a little anxious about Jim’s appointment with his dermatopatholigist on Wednesday. I’m praying he doesn’t have any cancer. Since almost every spot she’s biopsied HAS been bad, I’m really concerned about what he’ll face in the coming years. Please remember him in prayer. He’s so precious to me. We’re seeing signs of spring all around. I love the spring, fall and winter. I really dislike summer, tho. Of course, it’s hard to enjoy any season when you don’t leave the house except for church. We are supposed to receive our Federal Tax Refund this Friday. We got our state refund in just days. Hope we do! I got a $20.00 check and a $5.00 American Express gift card in the mail today from my surveys. I’ve got supper ready to go in the oven. The head baseball coach was quite ill today, but at school. He wasn’t sure if he’d stay for practice of just have Jim run it by himself. Jim has to be home in time for a phone call from his college mentor at 6:30. Political Stuff: I was shocked, today, to see Obama being called ‘a Messiah of sorts’, a ‘cult’ and references to ‘his first coming’. All this was in an Australian newspaper. Then there is this news flash: Hillary Clinton continues her more than 15-year run as conservatives' most despised person in America. (I really dislike her, but think ‘despised’ is not a very nice word!) God Bless! Diane Tavegia Conservative Christians, Send a message to the Republican Party! Write in Mike Huckabee for President! Matthew 7:7-8 "Keep on asking, and you will be given what you ask for. Keep on looking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And the door is opened to everyone who knocks." John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is. Yesterday was an overwhelming day. I had much to do and was rushed all day. I got everything done and done on time, tho. I’d not slept well for three nights. I’m sure it was concern for Jim. I’d sleep in bits and pieces and have strange dreams when I did sleep. I sure slept well last night, tho. Jim saw a different doctor yesterday and we really liked him. He saw Nick, first. Nick has a seborrhea rash around his hairline and an occasional acne spot. The doctor was really nice to Nick and explained how things happen and how to prevent them. He gave Nick some creams for the acne and advice on how to clear up the rash with medicated shampoo. Thankfully, doctor gave us an instant rebate on one of the meds. Our insurance wouldn’t cover much of the cost but the coupon cleared the balance on one. Instead of our co pay being $60.00, I paid $25.00. For Jim, the doctor removed a mole, a black spot and a raw spot that won’t heal and will call us with the biopsy results in about a week. He wants to remove many, many more ‘freckles and moles’ on Jim. He’ll see him every six weeks and said to check daily for any changes. He said Jim would eventually battle full blown melanoma if we are not proactive and remove things as they are questionable. He said he does cancer surgery several days a week and would love to be put out of business by eliminating the need for surgery. I really liked him. The gal I walk with was sick on Tuesday. She called during supper to say she wasn’t able to come and walk and also that her mother was having surgery Thursday, so would not be able to walk then, either. I’ve not walked Tuesday or Wednesday, but I was out and about all day Wednesday. Jim and I were going to walk at the mall last night, but the final daycare child left so late that we didn’t have time to do that and then pick up Nick from church. I’m a bit uncomfortable walking inside the church on Wednesday night because there’s one morbidly obese young woman who will sit on the sofa in our welcome area and make disgusted noises or eye rolling faces when we walk past. Last week it actually angered me. I didn’t say anything, but had some not so nice thoughts. Speaking of weight, do you ever watch ‘You Are What You Eat’? It’s a British show and is quite a shocker. Nick and I enjoy it, tho. We also like ‘How Clean is Your House’. Some hints I have learned: * Eating a small apple before a meal helps you eat less, speeds up digestion and lessens fat absorption. * Cinnamon taken twice daily (1 gram a day) lowers blood sugar and cholesterol levels. * Crumbled pretzels are fat free and make a great substitute for croutons on salads. Bagged stuffing mix also will work well. Just check for fat content. * Mashed steamed cauliflower looks like mashed potatoes but is much better for you! * To be considered ‘active’, you should take 10,000 steps a day. Even with daycare and housework, I’m lucky to do 2,000 steps a day! OUCH. * An inexpensive pedometer can be purchased at Wal-Mart for under $5.00. Being aware of how sedentary one is helps with motivation. * You burn more calories bouncing on a mini trampoline for 25-35 minutes than jogging for an hour! Boy it sure got cold yesterday! We had snow flurries while going to the doctor. When I walked Scooter before bed, it was 11° with the wind chill. It’s much warmer today and the sun is out. We’re having a special meal for supper. All of us love shrimp. We’re going to have a shrimp and pasta dish I invented many years ago. It’s delicious and low fat, too. No dessert or candy, please! We’re having our portrait done this Saturday afternoon for the church directory. We’ve decided to dress casual. We’ll be given one free 8 X 10. I’m trying to decide on colors for me. I have blonde and white hair. I wore a black sweater two portraits ago and with my light hair, something went wrong in the photo and we all were over exposed. My hair looks really nice with yellows, peach, purple, etc. I’m leaning toward a lovely turtleneck that’s a peachy yellow color. Mango? It sets off my hair and skin tones. Nick wants to wear a casual Old Navy shirt and Jim will decide two minutes before we leave and will look the best. He takes lovely pictures! Jim has to work overtime to make up for a snow day. Since he coaches, he’ll have to go to work early. He’ll begin on Tuesday, since there’s no school on Monday. I didn’t tell you about his injuries. He was hitting some fly balls for the outfielders and he pulled a groin muscle. The next day, he was running sprints (short runs) BACKWARDS with the team and he tripped and fell on his back. He’s one tough cookie! Sixty (60) years old and running sprints backwards with 6th, 7th and 8th graders. LOL He’s a hunk. I paid our water and gas bills online today. I’m hoping for an early spring so I don’t have another big gas bill. It was $120.00 for January 7 – February 7th. December was just under $90.00. We should be getting our tax refund tomorrow. The IRS says it might be Tuesday before it shows in our account because of the bank being closed on Monday. Neat! I’m guessing Jim won’t be home until around 6:00 because of baseball but I might be wrong. We’d like to go walk at the mall when dinner is over. We walk a bit slower at the mall and talk while we walk. I do enjoy my hubby’s company! God Bless! Diane Tavegia Conservative Christians, Send a message to the Republican Party! Joshua 1:5 "No man will be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I have been with Moses, I will be with you; I will not fail you or forsake you." Luke 12:6-7 "Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. "Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows." Psalms 62:8 Trust in God at all times; pour out your heart before Him: God is a refuge for us. The doctor's office called this afternoon to say the 'raw' spot on my husband's arm IS cancer. He'll have surgery on that Feb. 27th. The new black spot doctor removed from his back is a blue nevus and currently benign. A previous blue nevus was NOT benign but this one had appeared virtually overnight and we saw the doctor within days. We are to watch this area on a daily basis. We really appreciate your prayers, notes and phone calls! Many more moles will be removed and biopsied and Jim has another raw spot, too. It’s under his ear. God’s Word tells me ............ James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Shrimp was on sale at Publix, so Jim got 2 lbs. I’m making another seafood dish for supper tonight. It sure was good! We had sautéed pears topped with low fat Cool Whip as a dessert. That was very good and low cal! We really don’t ‘do’ anything extra for Valentine’s Day. I make a nice meal and we remember to wish each other ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’, but we don’t do big gifts. Jim did get me a box of Valentine’s chocolates. He got a small box and said, ‘You could eat one a day and not mess up your diet’. So, I ate one. We got our income tax refund late last night. They always take out any medical bills we owe the VA, so it was $725.00 less than we were supposed to get back. They have done this a number of years in a row, so we expected it. The VA has not billed Blue Cross since we got insurance, so we may end up with a refund check from the VA later. I talked to our daughter for almost two hours late yesterday. It was quite depressing. She has a difficult life because of many bad choices. 1 Timothy 5:8 But if any does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. Ach! The oldest daycare child, turning 3 in March, came with a new toy today. It doesn’t have a volume control. Even a slight movement can cause this thing to sing and talk. If I hear ‘Little Einstein’ one more time, my head may burst! I let her take it to bed during naptime, but I turned it off first. She hasn’t found the on off switch yet. Scooter has complained the last few nights about sleeping in the master bathroom. He has a huge dog bed made with extra nice foam and some fluff, but he whines quietly and wants to be set free. I gave in and put up a gate in the hallway, letting him sleep on the sofa in the television room and he was very happy. I left the t.v. on DIY and never heard a sound from him. He’s such a huge dog and I’m guessing the bathroom feels too small and confining. He doesn’t bother anything when left in the other half of the house and he’s totally house broken, so the sofa it is. Jim has a three day weekend. I’ll have the oldest daycare child on Monday, tho. It sure would have been nice to sleep late. I’m very glad today is Friday. I’m looking forward to a nice weekend. Tuesday night is our weigh in. I’ve lost six pounds. I hope to lose a bit more before Tuesday. I’d wanted to be down 10 lbs. I’ve been lifting weights, walking 2 – 2 ½ miles three or more times each week and restricted my calories while eating only healthy foods like fresh vegetables and fruits each day. I seriously need more exercise in my life but being trapped in a small area with the toddlers restricts that. I got a nasty letter today from our dental group saying ‘either pay your past due balance or report you’, etc. Seems they owe ME $5.00 and the computer can’t figure it out. I also got a notice that my mortgage jumped $10.27 a month due to rising insurance and taxes. Meanwhile, our income dropped $20.00 because health and dental insurance went up. I got another letter saying our lovely GP has left the practice and we have to choose another doctor from the group. I haven’t been to the doctor in years but don’t like changes! God will take care of it all. The kids are gone. The crib, high chair, potty chair, toys, crayons and kid’s t.v./ VHS are put away so my house looks like MY house again. The smallest child won’t return until Tuesday so many things won’t need to come out until then. I really like it when the house looks ‘proper’. I hope you have a lovely evening. Please take a minute to appreciate those you love, who were given to you by God, and let them know they ARE loved. God Bless! Romans 8:37-39 "But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Isaiah 55:8-9 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts." Oh My Goodness, we had a fun and busy day! Let’s see. We were awake before 7:00 and up not long after. We had breakfast and got busy. Jim showered and then went to get our three propane tanks filled so we could grill out. I walked the dog and cleaned out litter boxes before I showered. Jim took our garbage to the dump and then he and I went to Douglasville. At Michael’s Crafts, I got three garlands of spring flowers and two other bunches of flowers. They were all 40% off today. We went to the mall and walked our laps before going into Yankee Candle and getting some of the candles on sale this weekend. On the way home, we ran to Piggly Wiggly and got some steaks for supper. They were quite good. Jim cooked them on the grill tonight. I made some yellow squash and butter beans. We also had some Italian garlic bread. I ate plenty of the veggies, 3 ounces of the steak and one slice of the bread. We had beautiful weather today. It’s was very pretty and almost 70°. I sure enjoyed being out. I walked Scooter down our cul de sac numerous times. We’d get up a good pace and he’d find something to sniff. I really enjoyed the exercise, being out and about and just moving around! Oh how I wish daycare was not a necessity in our lives. Maybe someday. One thing I didn’t enjoy…. We had our picture taken for the new church directory. The man who did it was in quite a hurry. He took four very bad pictures of us. Nick was looking down in one and to the side in the other. The man twisted my head/ neck, calling it a pose, and I looked like I have a broken neck in all four pictures. In three of the pictures, Jim either has his mouth open or is laughing. I chose the least offensive picture and told the woman trying to force me to invest in ‘memories’ that I wanted to get out of there and forget what I’d just seen. Thankfully, they’re FREE. Maybe next directory we’ll take a photo at home and submit it. We watched ‘The Brave One’. It was okay. I had a problem with the language and many of the situations. We watched ‘The Bucket List’ tonight. Now that was good. Tomorrow is another early Sunday morning and I want to curl up next to Jim and Scooter on the sofa. Hope you’re having a mice weekend! Jeremiah 24:7 "I will give them a heart to know Me, for I am the LORD; and they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to Me with their whole heart." Isaiah 55:8-9 "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts." Romans 8:37-39 "But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." We had severe weather come through today after church. Strong winds with tornado warnings, driving rains and local flooding were the norm all afternoon. We are still low on rainfall, so we desperately need the spring rains. I do hope no one was hurt, tho. Another tornado watch has been issued tonight. I crawled in bed with a movie and slept for two hours. I love a good rain storm. Hosea 6:3 "So let us know, let us press on to know the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; and He will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain watering the earth." Church attendance was way down. Between this being a long weekend and lots of people sick with the flu, sinus infections and strep throat, our youth and youth leaders attendance was way off. Today was all ‘modern’ music except for a choir special. Too fast, too many unnecessary words, too repetitive for me. I didn’t sing. I understand the younger people prefer choruses and like the electric guitars, drums and those little pianos, but I feel under conviction to not sing or voice words that are not from my heart. Worse than vain repetitions are idle words, if I sing just to satisfy ‘man’. I’d rather remain silent and pray or reflect during that time. A Barna survey in the early 1990’s asked people where they had learned most of what they know about God. That resulted in 85% saying they learned most of what they know about God from the old HYMNS. Matthew 12:36 “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the Day of Judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Our two granddaughters have the flu. They’re just beginning to feel better, but had high temperatures, bad coughs, aches and pains and sore throats. They have this week off from school so will have plenty of time to recuperate. I called to check on them and they were making baby diapers for Baby Alive. Seems they’d given her WAY too much to drink and she’d had to spend some time over the sink. I had hoped to be able to go over to the mall and walk today but with the severe weather, that wasn’t smart. I only have one daycare child on Monday and Tuesday this week. I’d love to be able to get out those days. I’m really tired of this sedentary, hermit lifestyle! Oh to have a second car (with no payment tho!) We watched Ice Age and Explorers today. Jim and Nick watched ‘I am Legend’ and didn’t like it. We'd watched our music DVD of the Celtic Women last night. We just got High Def. and I'm amazed at the difference. "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21 I want to paint my bedroom and master bathroom purple or lavender with purple carpet. I don’t NEED new carpet, tho. Not in the bedroom. I love purple and lavender. My room is pink with burgundy carpet. That’s the color we painted it when we moved in 9 years ago. I wasn’t given many carpet colors to choose from nine years ago. I need to repaint the woodwork in our bath, so may paint that purple at the same time. There’s no carpeting to ‘clash’ in there. I’ve walked the dog five times today and still have about four hours until bedtime. I walk him down to the end of our cul de sac. That’s an uphill incline. It’s a work out! I go back past our house, then walk him to the end of our street, and then back home. I’ve not ‘clocked’ it so don’t know how far that is. Our driveway is very steep so that final bit up and then up the outside stairs, up our stairs in the house to the mail level are hard. Slowly I’m building up my resistance. I’m a bit discouraged on my weight loss. Without more exercise, I don’t think I’ll lose more weight. My caloric intake is quite low, with me eating lots of fresh veggies and fruits. I can’t safely cut it any more. Daycare is going to make me stay too plump. I really need to lose 20 lbs. 144 is way too heavy for my height. I remember 124 as being a good weight all around. 114 was a nice looking weight on my frame but too thin in my face. Our satellite has gone out again, due to the storms, so I’m going to watch Finding Nemo and say goodnight. Have a nice Monday. Jim has off and I hope you do, too. God Bless! Psalm 27:14 “Wait for the LORD; be courageous and let your heart be strong. Wait for the LORD.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 "For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal." Jim took Nick to the dentist today. He has no cavities, but this dentist in the group said he needs braces for a slight overbite. Six months ago the lady dentist didn’t mention anything about braces. His teeth are very straight. Our two insurances should cover braces 100%, but I have to choose a dentist that accepts both plans. I’m thankful for the insurance! I’m very thankful Nick hasn’t had more cavities. He had 9 by age four from us giving him Apple Juice all the time. He has had no cavities in his permanent teeth. While they were gone, Jon came over to visit and move a television his dad and I couldn’t lift. He picked it right up and took it down two flights of stairs into our rec room. We’re so very thankful he’s around to help us! It was nice to visit with him, too. He’s been working 12- 16 hour nights and 6 to 7 nights a week. Whew! He was still here when Jim and Nick got home. That was nice. We’d not seen Jon in two weeks. I listed some things on Freecycle today and gave them away within minutes. I had a VCR and a 3’ X 5’ dog bed that I’d made last year. A lady that rescues dogs that would have been put down took the dog bed. She has 13 dogs right now. I don’t like to hang onto things that we ‘might need’ later. No clutter, please! After the dentist, Nick went to his best friend’s house for the day. They’d called last night to invite him. Will is a year older and the sister is Nick’s age. There’s a younger brother, too. They also home school. He really enjoys playing with the kids. They are so very well behaved. I got my sheets changed, laundry done, house vacuumed, with Jim doing my stairs. I also tried to get some sorting done. I like to go through our kitchen and desk drawers a few times a year to clean them out. Hailee tries to help, so I don’t get more than one done at a time. I only have one daycare child again tomorrow so should accomplish more, I hope. Jim passed by a BBQ place while taking Nick to his friend’s house. He wants BBQ for supper. I told him that was fine. I’ll just not eat any bread or fries with mine. Tomorrow night is our weigh in. I really am quite disappointed that I haven’t lost 10 lbs. I really worked hard at not eating junk and keeping my diet healthy and filled with good foods. I’m quite sure the lack of exercise is my problem. There’s no solution for that until our life changes. The lottery is $220 million tomorrow night. I bought a ticket. | | |
