Hi Karlie, Ray, Vidi, Sharon and Denny

Thank you all . I haven't heard anymore about the service or anything.

Under 3 days 'til Breeders' Cup !!!!!!!

Unfortunately I am going to be at the Art Walk most of the day Saturday, so I will have to catch the replays online.

And it was in another thread today that I "heard" about one of your pics being chosen!! That's terrific. Did you post that you had one chosen last year too?

Yes this is the second year in a row that I have been selected for the Botanica show. My avatar is the image in the show.

But of course.

Here is a link to a bigger image. I am still working out how I want to display my photos.

It's kinda' tough when that fact hits ya' one day that you're now the older generation....
why is it we don't feel old inside but "whippersnappers" think we are "ancient" once we're over 30 and wondering how we are even still alive if we're over 50??!!!
I recall (seems like only yesterday, well, week before last...LOL) when I thought that same way
[/size]

Perhaps they think you are ancient because you use terms like "whippersnappers".

Yes, it seems not so long ago that the usual mode was not to trust anyone over 30 or wearing a tie.

I had wondered who'd come up with that "jab" first...Your prize is in the mail...but you know mail sometimes gets lost in transit.....

I'm still a tad leery of men in ties, but even more leery of women in ties....

Good evening all,

Vidi, What did you think of the Breeder's Cup? I don't think I have ever seen it run in that much rain. I was not home to watch it on TV, but I did look up the replays on their web site.

The reason that I have not been home all weekend is due to the Art Walk. I did sell one print, although it was not at our display. I sold it to another photographer when I was at her house looking at her photographs.

Gary,
Both my DH & I agree we've never seen such a muddy track in all the years we've watched the horses.

I chose well for the most part in all the races & I my hose placed in the Breeders' Cup Classic.
I truly didn't want to go against Street Sense because I like Calvin Borel, but I just had no feeling that he would win Saturday. Even tho' I didn't choose him I would not have minded if he had won.

Almost cried when they had to euthanize Geo Washington ... so sad

Now to Vent my frustration with Churchill Downs!!!!
Unless they reconsider, they're not even going to attempt to host another Breeders' Cup. The "powers that be" say they don't make enough money for all the work involved.
They are ignoring the bad PPR this will cause and the loss of appx $30Million to Louisville economy.
If they don't reconsider, my little group & I (about 18 of us) have decided we're going to boycott everything except Oaks & Derby.

Fall Meet began there yesterday and even tho' we had planned to go a few times, we're not going at all and hope many others will also not go and they will get the message.

It's the principle, dontchaknow !!

Diane

Diane,

Doesn't the company that owns Churchill Downs also own other major tracks? Are they doing the same thing at their other tracks? Are they losing money when they host? They host it once every 8 to 10 years don't they? I figure the PR is good for the track.

I just checked. The same company also owns Arlington, Calder and the Fair Grounds in New Orleans.

It's been such a long time since I was around these parts, I thought I'd best stop by and see if Gary had hung any new pictures in here now that baseball season is over...and you all are talking about racing. How quickly one forgets even his favorite sport!

Carry on, friends...carry on!

ROFLOL.

The hot stove league is just starting. The Royals new manager is trying to win in Japan before he comes to KC.

And I am a multi-sports fan. I was a horse racing fan before I was a baseball fan. I was the neighborhood bookie (no money involved) at age 10, with the kids that I ran with.

Packers play Kansas this coming weekend.

My big input to the sports discussions that take place here.

ROFLOL. Somehow the Royals hiring a manager who tries to win seems hilarious. What will they think of next? ha ha ha!

Just what exactly does a bookie do if there is no money involved?

I went around to the neighborhood kids and asked them which horse they liked. Of course I had to tell them who was running too.
