I am sitting in a motel room in east Tennessee. I am on the third floor looking out into the trees and overlooking a creek. It has been raining off and on.

I came to Tennessee to meet some people from the SG folder. They were having a GT and I decided to make the trip and met them in person and to see a state that I have never seen.

In the morning before the meeting I drove around and did some exploring. I found this town that has was founded in the early 1800's. There was a cemetery there with graves of men who had fought in the Revolutionary War. There were Victorian style buildings. And I took pictures of course.

I met a couple from Kansas who were living there now. They had retired from Kansas City and moved to Florida. But after four hurricanes in three months they moved Tennessee.

Then I found an old one lane covered bridge that was a replica of one built in the 1870's

I met up with the people in the afternoon. I enjoyed meeting everyone and the spouses and children. There were about 22 in total. We had dinner at a BBQ restaurant and I got a chance to compare Tennessee BBQ with KC style. The restaurant had put tables together to make one long table for us.

The food was excellent, especially when I was surprised with a gift of a humongous piece of German Chocolate cake.

Then most of the group went to a Southern Gospel concert, which was a first time experience for me. Now I am a long time rocker and folk music fan, and this was a high energy show. All four groups really put themselves into their music.

I am going to church this morning and then I will fly back from Knoxville to KC via Detroit.

And while Tonny Bennett sang I Left my Heart in San Francisco.

My version will be I Left my Wallet in Detroit. After the initial panic of not being able to find it, as I drove home from the airport making mental notes of all that I would have to do to replace my drivers license, medical cards, credit cards and trying to remember what else was in there. But when I got home I had a call for the airline that they had found it. Now I will wait for their call to arrange to have it FedEx'ed back to me.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes. And Sam, my musically interests are expanding.

Gary I am glad for this. THere are several SG groups out there you may like. Ernie Haase & Signature Sound and The Imperials come to mind.

Glad they found your wallet also. Trying to get those things replaced and/or cancelled is a hassle.

I noticed that there was a Fiesta dinnerware store across the road from Tony's. I collect Fiesta and I not dare go to the store because I had no room in my bag.

Welcome Faroukfarouk! I saw your posts in Karlie's thread and went investigating (you profile) and saw "To Awed" and here I am.
To answer your question about keeping it up... It was a year on June 19th that I have been free of smoking and I continue to be. It truly was God's hand on me that I was able to do it.

Can you share a bit about yourself? Or is there a thread already where there is more about yourself?

Edit to add: Congrats on your quitting also and hope you are feeling totally free of it still!!
