Here's one of my fondest memories of childhood. Playing with the the Water Wiggle. Does anyone remember those? It was this thing you put on the end of the hose and it, well, made the hose wiggle and spray unpredicatably. I loved that thing. What does that have to do with church work or theology? Well loosely I was much more relaxed and not mentally tapping my toe as much then. I've had to take myself back to that time so that I could continue to enjoy people and not get my knickers in a twist when they do things that make me want to wring their necks. The Lord has reminded me of playing in that water on many occasions. Not fully sure why, but that's part of the reason.

Randy, I think it's more of a roll call thread or maybe not. Not sure. Martin will have to elaborate.

I remember wearing hats to church was a must with white gloves and little pearly buttons at the cuff. Also shining my paton leathers with Johnson's floor wax every saturday night. I'm old enough to remember, especially the black and white TV and Sundays' Davie and Goliath, but too young in faith wisdom to keep pace with the sages on this board. Where were you when they walked on the moon and President Kennedy was shot? I remember distinctly my grandmother sitting to watch these events, I'm not sure if it was the somberness, wonder or just the awe of seeing her sitting for a change. Martin, are you being attacked too much or feeling lonely. In need of brownies, whoops that's Fritz, or a cup of Starbucks? Don't have them here but I'll take a Chai.

ORIGINAL: wawhoo73112 Anyone remember when a MacDonalds cheeseburger and a gallon of gas were both $.19 each ? Well, Bob, you are a little bit older than I am. LOL!! I only remember when gas was .27 cents a gallon and a cheeseburger was about .29 cents.

Doveflight, I remember shinning my shoes on Sat. night too. I also remember having my hair rolled on pink foam rollers on Sat. night. I remember being in school (2nd grade) when our teacher told us that the president had been shot. When man first walked on the moon, I remember looking out my bedroom window at the moon for a long time just thinking about how there was life up there on that night.

I remember no color tv. I remember NO TV period. I was in the first grade before we got our first one. Those were the days when smacking the side of the chasis actually helped because they still used tubes instead of solid state electronics. The pins where the tubes were plugged in would oxidize and cause the connections to become poor. A good slap often corrected it well enough to work a while longer. Banging a TV now will only make you feel better but very unlikely to have any effect on a problem.

The biggest thing that's happened to me in my 36 years as a Chrsitian is that the Lord has made His grace a reality. It is not something I solely take on faith as I did as a child. I KNOW it's real. I've been to the pit (or it felt like it), and the Lord was with me and pulled me out. He restored me, and I have no doubt that He would do it again and again and again. Praise the Lord!!

ORIGINAL: Doveflight Hmm, my experience from the beginning was to see Christians living double lives. Those I knew more intimately caused me to be suspicious of others who seemed to be right on but I knew less intimately to know the facts. As I met more of the first and fewer of the latter, I suspected most everyone. I kept striving and striving to be purer and better while others told me not to be too hard on myself and it can't be done until Christ comes and takes us to be glorified. So just do the best you can and wait for His return. I now know we all have feet of clay but we also need each other to encourage and help us walk upright before our God and that by the power of God, not our striving, we are able to do so. "...we must wrestle with our refusal to keep traveling between desire and satisfaction where God neither answers our prayer..nor clearly illumines a path... God lets us wait--not to punish us, not because he has forgotten us, but because our waiting is the crucible he uses to purify our hope for him." (Dan Allender) As we mature in perspective through life and experiences, we also mature our faith through pain and loss. He is always there. Great thoughts. yes, we all have "feet of clay", and we all should remember we have limited intellectual eyesight. so does anyone think they are really more "mature" to any great degree that's worth a lot. or have we just painfully learned to keep our hands away from most of the flames of life and understand that as maturity. hehe Frankly our lives are so short these days , less than 100 expectancey, I don't think we have TIME to really mature. I mean when did Adam reach "maturity"? Maybe at about 550? If it weren't for being able to laugh, I think I'd just fall asleep under a tree like (who was that?) and never wake up.
